all right yeah just uh excruciating loss um you know really tough there at the end just uh standing in here as all the guys came through watching a lot of great Trojans like this guy right here um you know come up that tunnel for the last time man emotional time uh there’s been so many guys here that have I think paved the way they have they have uh invested in this program you know they’ve shared in our journey to to to continue to build this thing and U I’m proud to have coached them proud to have had these guys you know throughout this journey it’s kind of a mixture of you know guys like jayen that have been here for a long time and and then some guys that kind of chose to come in their careers here uh with us but the the appreciation for them is is long reaching and you know I I told them in the locker room as as as as this thing goes on and climbs and climbs that that they’ve always got to look back on it and know that they were part of it and they were it’s true and uh so appreciative man been appreciative to coaches team through this regular season it’s been a really really fun team to coach um you know we battled today like we have all year uh we just didn’t quite played good enough obviously in the second half um and and I gave ourselves some chances right there at the end and tried to stay aggressive and obviously some plays just didn’t go our way and uh but give credit to Notre Dame good football team it was a good football game um proud of this team we’ll uh regroup here um obviously get our get our Bowl assignment um get into some of the development with our young guys and get ready here uh for the final game of the season so that will go questions yeah I’m I’m not gonna you know this game finished you know what 20 minutes ago all right so we we got time to go here I know there’s time for that and I know get to answer all those that’s part of being the head coach so I don’t shy away from it but this is about this team and this moment um these guys that played their last game here at the colum um uh there’s I I could I could sit up here for an hour and talk about the things that that I know are happening within this program I could rattle off all the stats I could show you the facilities I could show you recruiting I mean I can I show you the staff I show I could I can go on about that for now I just don’t think it’s the appropriate time right now yeah haven’t se on tape it obviously turned over so quickly because you know we had the ball back right away and needed to go down and score again so um you know we checked into a play we tried to be aggressive all night we made a BN you know Jaden gave our guys a chances to make a lot of one-on-one plays and uh yeah it looked like we weren’t quite on the same page in the corner got his eyes back and made a nice play on the ball um yeah I I thought I thought Quinton and Brian came in and did some really good things so I mean I don’t feel like we you know we were like oh no Woody’s not there all of a sudden we can’t do these things but you know listen Woody’s been our best offensive player this year and so you know to sit here and say that losing him didn’t affect it it affected it some Although our I thought our backs came in and still had some really big plays but you know you never want to lose a guy like that as early as we did yeah you know I I thought we you know hung in there made some big plays in the first half obviously had the two turnovers which at the time were were massive um but we just didn’t do a good enough job against the run I mean period and and I think that was to me kind of the the story of the day was you know we didn’t defend the run as well as we have been um and I thought that made them you know pretty multi-dimensional and then you know we had a couple opportunities to make some competitive plays uh both defensively and offensively there in the second half and they they made a few more of them than we did so certainly uh We’ve made obviously massive massive progress defensively and and every way that you can measure it um but but certainly today wasn’t our best yeah I mean you do and I mean it’s it’s you got a big responsibility here man these are these are transformational years for These Guys these guys go through a lot on a very public stage they put their heart and soul on the line and I think you know my message to them is like you can’t this team has put their heart and soul on the line like that’s anybody that has watched us play you cannot deny that I mean it is and to go through emotionally what we have and still continue to do it like you can’t question you can’t question this football team you know we there’s times we could have played better sure there’s times we could have Coach better yep did we miss some opportunities yes we did we laid it on the line every single week and and my message to the guys was you continue to do that in your life you continue to do that in this football program the things you want will come and uh that they needed to walk out of that locker room with their heads held high if you quit if you give in if you if you crack if you fall apart then you ought to walk out that locker room with your head down uh this team has no reason to put their head down um and uh I said I’m proud to coach this team I’m very very proud to coach them yeah it was surreal man um I just remember being like moving in you know to the Village like yesterday so I mean I feel like the memories is it all a hit me yet um to be honest but you know I just look back at all the memories and you know the tradition that you know the culture everything that SC stands on like I I love everything about USC and just blessed to be a part of this and blessed to stay home to even you know what I’m saying just have the opportunity to showcase and be be here so yes um well I I think I think number one I think there’s some really strong leadership in this program um we got some really high quality individuals um I think this program means a lot to the people in those locker room uh in our locker room um that the challenge of of of building and and bringing this thing back with all that’s changed um and continues to change um I think this this group really cared about one another I think they really didn’t want to let each other down all sides of the ball the coaching staff I mean that I never I you coach long enough you’re going to be part of you know teams at times that don’t win some games or you go through some tough moments and the majority of time that I’ve been through that at some point there’s some finger pointing there’s some dissension like there’s something as a head coach that either I I had to do as a head coach or I watched other head coaches do when I wasn’t a head coach that like they got to go get in between that or stop it like that never happened with this football team not one time and that’s why I knew like every week we were going to show back up and we were going to keep rolling and I knew we’d have a chance to make a run here at the end and and obviously we really wanted to get all three of these so um I think it speaks to you know what we’re building speaks to the quality of the individuals in that room and you got to you know you got to First learn how to fight and learn how to scrap as a program and I think this team you know did that and we’ll continue to grow from it we’re going to get better um and uh but it’s it’s one hell of a place to start um yeah that’s a lot to learn from for sure Within These past three games that I’ve played um obviously can’t turn the ball over in these big moments like that and let the team down especially the seniors um um but I’m grateful for the opportunity that coach had gave me so yeah looking forward to move forward well you were also a big part of the reason why we had a chance to win that game so make sure you remember that too 100% do you he’s done a good job you know it’s not a you know it’s not an easy situation to go into especially when you’re playing you know three good programs three three good defenses I mean there wasn’t a you know wasn’t a gimme you know on that schedule and so especially the way he played today I mean that’s that’s you know the best we’ve played offensively all year that’s a really good defense that that you know we did some pretty good things against so I thought he stepped up and played some really good ball was impressed how he handled the whole way and how he handled you know our team in terms of being a leader and being a steadying presence and that’s that’s what that position has to do and I thought he answered the call one more yeah it’s a good football team I think it’s uh you know the teams that we’ve played against here in the first two years it’s it’s probably you know the most complete team um Notre Dame team that we’ve played it’s certainly you know probably the best offensive team uh that they’ve had in my opinion in the last couple years so um you know they’ve done a good job I know there’s a lot of other good teams out there but um no they you know I give them credit they did a really nice job and and um you know they we’ll see what happens all right thanks everybody guys
