obviously get thrown in there leading the team down there I just kind of what happened there at the end wer able to keep the yeah um obviously had a mistake on my part the intentional grounding um we end up gting that yardage back but um yeah I just couldn’t finish the drive um want to try and get closer for the field goal but yeah I couldn’t finish went out down big you say something to help rally The Troop saying hey we got this we can come back yeah I just told the boys no Flinch you know doesn’t matter who’s in there but we play as one on offense and on defense um I just told the boys no Flinch let’s go keep rolling Luke on that final throw down the middle what’s the read what’s the play yeah it was just a miscommunication on my part you extend the I know you guys want to win but you at least get to keep that feel over your thoughts as you’re trying to get to man it was fun at the time uh just didn’t want to go down but overall just wanted to get a w tonight Junior as a senior now you know it’s your last game at uh at Rice e what are some of the emotions you’re going through just grateful um it’s his life thankful for everything here just love every everyone here our fans everyone who stayed faithful with us even until now grateful for it all obviously a lot of tough losses for you guys but a lot of close losses too it seems like you guys have been sticking in each and every single game there’s not been any you know let down what does that mean for you guys even though you know this season hasn’t gone the way it’s been you guys have been in almost every single loss that there’s been uh it’s it’s it’s life um would you we live by our culture um you know rsnb we have to fight you know we can’t fold we can’t give up you know every opportunity we have every Saturday we have to fight and you know and unfortunately we came up short today but you know uh we’ll just keep continuing and getting better and shoot keep checking along your emotions I mean you you came here starting on offense finishing with defense obviously how are you feeling about kind of how things have G for you this yeah um it’s been an emotional week um you know come out here for five years and you have a family with you and always the whole locker room is my brothers for life um so to be out in rice hickles was one last time and take the field with them um it’s not about football for me um it’s the last time playing with my brothers um so that’s emotional um like junior said it’s life things haven’t fallen our way this year um you know we haven’t got the results that we wanted but that’s life and that happens and you get back up tomorrow and the Sun so Rises and you go to work Luke if you’re forced into action to start uh next week um how important is it to end try to end this season that’s been so disappointing on a positive yeah I mean I think uh I have no doubt we come out fighting um someone said in here like every almost every game’s been close just speaks of the character of our team so I have no I have no doubt we’ll come out fighting and try to finish on a high note are and to play as a true freshman you had to open yourself up to learn and to grow what have seniors like Junior Kar what have these guys meant to you I mean they make it so easy to learn to become a better player I mean they’re they’re great leaders they’re great teachers also I mean coming into a a good linebacker room with Kar as a teacher and even when I got here Mamud um just makes it easy I can watch them see what they do I can sit down and watch film with them and then with Connor he plays defensive end and so I can I can watch pass rushing uh watch how a cackle a tackle kick so it makes it easy in junior he just he makes our life really easy I mean he’s a monster up front and it it keeps lining off us so I’m I’m just grateful to them and grateful to learn from them for e e for e for for uh first thing I’ll say is how much I appreciate this senior class uh great group of guys uh a lot of them have won so many games for us through the years and done so much for the program uh tough to see him go but as I say every year that’s the the uh circle of life in college football is seniors go new guys come that’s just how it works so uh but they’ll be missed um very proud of what they’ve accomplished academically while they were here you got uh guys with master’s degrees and I think every one of them by May will have their Bachelors I think 90 something percent of them have it now so so very proud of what they have accomplished they deserved better this season they deserve better tonight um tough loss team battled from start to finish um just just uh you know kind of the story of the Season you couldn’t get enough offense generated only found the off the end zone one time offensively uh defense had a pick six uh blocked a punt for a touchdown did some good things there that was a very positive thing to see is is uh making a big play on special teams um thought Luke patari came in and really did some good things I’m proud of Luke and uh probably will be our quarterback next week as it’s looking and so um but we won’t know for a day or two but hope Isaac’s going to be okay I don’t I don’t think it’s uh real serious but uh again Reserve judgment until uh until we get uh the final doctor results um yeah back to offense you know nine first downs and only a couple hundred yards 220 or something that just that’s just not enough and defensively again we had a chance to make the stop at the end to to to clinch and we just can’t seem to make that final stop that we need um but uh again guys have a a reason to to uh hold their head high they play they sold out they gave it everything they had and uh just wasn’t enough again tonight so questions seems like holding to try to get that he thinking too much because trying to play conservative or kind of what’s going into that decision uh I think there’s probably a combination of things um not wanting to make a mistake is probably at the top of the list and not yet we’ve turned them all over excessively this year and and uh that’s uh you know in order to have a chance you can’t do that and we didn’t turn it over excessively tonight so that was uh one of the reasons why we’re in the ball game but but uh you know he’s young which matters I mean he’s a freshman although he’s had uh probably 600 reps now 500 plus and so uh we just got to evaluate everything and and still have one more ball game next week although like I said questionable whether he’ll be available but uh he’s a work in progress and uh we’ll just continue to see how things uh play out like you said all the Reps that Isaac has had 500 600 the number is he where you want him to be in terms of his development and and what else I guess would you need to see from him in the offse yeah we need to uh we need to be better we need to be better as coaches I need to be better I’m not you know we’re not pinning this on is Wilson by any way means but U we’ll evaluate the whole body of work at the end of the season you know we evaluate it every week but at the end of the year we’ll look at uh what he was able to do and what the numbers were because statistics matter for a quarterback they matter a lot and so uh it’s one of the positions that uh really are uh statistically driven and so we’ll we’ll just make those decisions uh once we get the game uh complete next week we play heading of Central Florida Friday so what six days left before the season’s over we know we’re not going to a bowl game which is unfortunate for those seniors because again they they uh they really deserve that but just came up short from your Vantage Point what went wrong on that final defensive series just the quarterback was uh executing throwing the ball he’s a really good quarterback his his uh efficiency rating is like third in the league and so he’s he’s a a veteran that uh does a great job for him got a lot of respect for him and he just executed that drive uh almost flawlessly and so but then to our credit we come back and March right back down the field the other way and and a really good field goal range till the the uh intentional grounding penalty but but uh that made it a 54 Yer Cole hit it pretty decently just a little bit wide R I guess is what it was and so uh Cole has has been pretty reliable this year I think he’s close to 80% with his kicks and so uh that was the difference obviously with the season so close to being finished uh you’re in the midst of an offensive coordinator sech with the way this season has gone like you mentioned the plugin play environment that now is college football you know how are you surveying what type of candidate that you want to lead this offense movie yeah taking a look at everybody uh in the country essentially and and uh looking at uh you know who’s done what and who’s done what where and with what personnel I mean there’s a lot that goes into it it’s not just hey who whoever whichever team scores the most that’s the guy you want so we’re doing a thorough search and and it’s important that we get uh somebody in play sooner rather than later ideally before Signing Day um but as I’ve said many times it’s more important you get the right guy the timing is important but not as important as getting the right guy and so we’ll uh we’re doing a national search and and uh see what we come away with on the final incompletion before the field goal attempt Luke threw the balls to the middle of the field and it was wide open there do you know if the tight end of the receiver had an option to go there uh no I don’t I don’t uh you know I haven’t had a chance to go analyze that it was it was uh you know last play of the game just trying to get the everything straight for the field goal but we’ll we’ll hash that out tomorrow but Luke Luke played uh pretty darn good and uh you know the one on the intentional grounding uh that was a route structure issue but you extend the the streak to 21 years with I know you lose but how does it feel to finally get that streak for another year well yeah that streak I guess is nice but I don’t know what you know great play by Lander by the way the whole defense they executed that interception return drill which we work on every week in practice flawlessly but uh that’s one of those tertiary is that the right word tertiary things that that are positive but but not really uh applicable to winning a championship I mean I guess minimally because we’ll be able to score on defense with a pick six for at least once for that many years but but uh I don’t really pay a whole lot of attention to that stat he know was more about winning and losing Kyle can I just ask you what it means to honor Ty Jordan and Aaron low tonight means a ton and to have uh their families here and got to spend some time with their families yesterday uh they would have been seniors obviously that’s the the reason that uh that we had the uh the honoring of those two young men and uh we miss them we miss them and unfortunately there’s not a lot of guys left on our team that knew them because you know they both came you know five years ago the co year which obviously didn’t count but but uh anyway it was uh really special to honor them and and have their families here great families love love those people okay thank you everybody see you next week
