[Music] Nils hoglander you know when he was signed I actually made a video about him and I personally thought that it was actually a really really really great signing by the Canucks I remember I don’t know if you can go and find it in my history of my YouTube channel wasn’t that long ago they sign they resigned him this offseason I remember being like man that’s I mean well what I was saying is essentially is like this cont TR can turn out good right like of course it can because you have you know a player that produced quite a bit now the one question about him though was I felt that he was going to be inconsistent now he has had a difficult start to this season for the Canucks there’s no doubt about it you know he has only about five points in 22 games you need to produce at a much higher level than that if you’re going to be getting paid 3 million like I remember though like here’s the thing last season he did get about like 24 25 goals like he got a lot of goals and he has a history of being up and down right and now we do have a rumor from Kevin weeks which does confirm that teams have been calling and are interested in him the capitals Penguins Blue Jackets are all teams uh that are interested in him now I’m not sure if I if I was the Canucks if I would quite give up on him just yet I have a little bit of difficulty with this one because I still think Neils hoglander is a good hockey player I think that he has talent I’ve always I was always skeptical if he was a consistent top six player um I remember if you go back and look at my video I was just I was like I just don’t think that he’s like a consistent top six player like every single year he’s going to give you 50 points 25 goals you at least have to give your team that if you’re going to be getting paid that high I just never thought that he could do that and it looked like I was right now 3 million is not that bad for that like for 3 million you expect him to be like a third line production type player but you know even five points is not enough for that like you you need him to at least be you know 10 points in 22 games or something like that he just hasn’t produced uh this much now you have to look at this another way too if the Canucks want to trade Neils hoglander you have to trade him when his value is high right so think about it his value has never been low well yeah I don’t think his value has been lower in a long time than it is like at this exact point to me it doesn’t make sense to trade him cuz I’m really against teams teams doing this I don’t like when teams trade players when they’re you know Five Points in 22 games it’s like you know what are you going to get like you know what I mean like what is the actual point to that in general like is it really going to make your franchise much better to trade a player you might as well keep him what I would do is try to mix him in and out of the power play I would try to play him with different players you know don’t mess up lines that are working for the kns like if you have a line that’s working really well for the cans leave it alone but if you can give him different teammates to play with that is also an option I guess you could also say though that he has not been getting a ton of ice time and you know if you look at his average ice time he’s only getting about 11 minutes when I just looked at it I’ll put the information up on the screen so you could also look at that like how do you expect this young player to produce given that little um ice time um it’s no stranger as to why teams are interested in this because again as I always say if you’re a team Buy Low Buy Low Buy Low sell high it’s the same thing as the stock market right it’s the same thing as the stock stock market so if the Vancouver Canucks are willing to move on from him I’d consider it if I was another team that was desperate for young forwards why why wouldn’t you you let’s compare this to the Maple Leafs player and Nick Robertson like I’m not a huge fan of Robertson I’ve been very critical of him I’m just just I’m just going to say that just before but here’s the thing I mean you know if you’re a team do I think he’s going to be that much but not really but I mean it might make sense to literally Buy Low right cuz if you buy low um you know maybe he could turn out for something for you that that’s all I’m saying I just really really really don’t like when teams Buy Low you know or or sell sell when they’re then the players values at the lowest now for example when it comes back to Robertson I was saying at that point trade him at the end of preseason his value is never going to be higher all the buzz around the league Nick Roberts is about to have a breakout season trade him you know I mean trade him trade him anyways that’s just my opinion on that and you also look at who he’s playing with to he’s playing with ratti he’s playing with besser according to the line combinations I mean you know he is playing with some okay players although ratty has not had um a great offensive start he’s he’s only got like three points in 15 games you need him to be better than that um at the end of the day if you want to produce more you got to put them on the ice but I but I suppose to say something against what I’m saying you you need you need your third line producers to produce in that the time that they are on the ice you know and and if they aren’t you know 3 million is just simply too much especially when he doesn’t play center and he’s under size like you absolutely need a player like that to perform when you’re paying him that much money 3 million is not nothing right it’s not like 5 6 7 8 9 10 million but 3 million you need a guy to produce there’s no doubt about it and honestly I don’t even know what these teams could even provide Vancouver back that would it would make it worthwhile you know like my my vote on this is going to like my opinion and my vote on this is going to be like just keep him try to move him out in and out of the line not in and out of the lineup like you want to keep them in the lineup but like try different line combinations to see if it works you might have to pull them away from a player you might have to try you you know coach just you don’t want to obsessively screw around with your roster but you just do need to try more different things with your roster to see if you can get you know a combination that works right anyways I am going to leave this video here uh if you could like comment and subscribe
