we didn’t break out the champagne Cory we didn’t break out the hard stuff we didn’t even not even wine coolers uh but Florida state does get a win to improve to 2-9 on the season 41 to7 over Charleston Southern a uh a game that probably went about as you’d expect on paper but it was 3 nothing to the second quarter and well 0 the start of the second quarter but they pulled away and got the win I don’t know if there’s any big takeaways about how far this team has come there a lot of takeways that was a lot of takeaways get I looked like a different team out there just good to get a win it was uh against a very very bad one of the worst teams that’s probably ever played inside this Stadium I I have to imagine they had high school state championship games here I think well that’s I said one of the worst not the worst but yeah I mean that was a one in N FBS team versus a one in10 FCS team and they have the literally I think two the two worst offenses in their division or two of the worst four it lived up to the building it did live up to the building of what we thought it was 3 nothing until the kid fumbled the punt like and I literally this in the column that hopefully you’ll read as soon as you’re done watching this that until that third and 11 that he could he got to Douglas on the first touchdown Drive the first of many he is Luke croman haww yeah starting I was about to tweet free Trevor Jackson because I couldn’t watch it anymore the rush was getting to him uh he didn’t seem poised didn’t seem confident and then all of the sudden um he hits that throw in the middle of the field which was nice and then after that he kind of took off and the offense took off which might have happened either way but it was good for croman Hawk just to have some nice moments and actually feels what it’s like to lead multiple touchdown drives yeah I mean the biggest news of the day really is the fact that Luke khaw did get the start it’s his first start as Florida State’s quarterback Brock Lenn uh was the backup he came in late in the game and actually looked pretty good when he got in the game yeah three to three um but you know over the last month or so they’ve been doing this kind of back and forth two series for you two series for you and it really has not been good for anybody I don’t think I do think it was good opposing defenses was good for them it was good to give one of them whichever one whichever Corner if you’re team Luke or team Brock it was good to give one of them a chance to play more than just two Series in a row because you do see I thought you did see him get comfortable yeah don’t worry guys he’s not going to back into us he’s rolling back down the field here they don’t even hear him I bet they do there’s no way they didn’t hear that but um yeah I think with when it comes to Luke it was nice to see him I think he led four straight touchdown drives you know one was a 25 y the other one was after the bar interception that was like a 20- y but he he didn’t punt the rest of the way that he had the two punts out of the first three drives and then a field goal and after that he was uh you know the the team scored touchdowns it’s Charleston Southern Man I get it and we know what’s coming next week and we know this has been a horrible season but it’s good for these young guys there something else I wrote in the column whether it’s Luke Amari Williams Landon Thomas BJ Gibson guys making plays maai Dany making a really nice catch that guy’s just that guy’s speed tracks like that guy’s speed against everyone is that um it’s a weapon and uh it’s good to see them just making plays and theoretically you expect hem even make it that’s a great one-handed catch and then he also had the the touchdown in the he had the catch in the end zone for the touchdown but like these guys are theoretically Ira supposed to be the future they’re the future it’s college football we don’t fure uh we don’t know if there’re we we assume and hope I guess that they’ll be here but these are the guys that the skill guys including Luke maybe Brock but including Luke maybe that are that are here for the uh the future so giving them any experience that’s positive on this field is a big deal moving forward to 2025 which can’t get here soon enough yeah and they’ve been getting experience probably for the last five or six weeks but it’s been good experience but a lot of them have not been positive experiences you know it’s just getting hit with a belt over and over it’s it’s an experience it’s not the one you want but uh you know they had some opportunities like you said maai Dany that same play basically where he’s got a rail route down the sideline it’s under thrown he’s got to fight through the you know defense a little bit to make a catch didn’t do it tonight he did um you know a couple of those catches by the young was really good over the middle it’s a really nice c h keem’s catch was probably the best catch of Florida State guys made all year because it was deflected and he just kind of snatched it one handed that’s a really big time play and then also I thought there were a couple times the young tight ends stuck their nose in there and help in blocking and some of the plays for their teammates so all that’s positive now you could easily say yeah you could do that against Charlton Southern are you going to be able to do that next week against Florida we’ll see but at least you have that positive experience to build on and the answer to that question is probably um maybe not even both Peter he’s up there he’s the top two him and Peter War a lot of pass but he caught a ton of passes but his freshman year he caught a touchdown I think it was uh Clint Trick’s first pass it was a touchdown against I think maybe even Charleston Southern or sford it was some lower level team that they were dominating and then the ne two weeks later he’s catching one against Oklahoma like um that those and now I’m not saying there’s a Rashad green on this team but that catch it that touchdown catch he had against Charleston Southern it does mean something it doesn’t it’s not that it doesn’t mean anything it does mean something it’s not as big as making a play against Florida next week but they’re building blocks they do matter these little experiences in games like this yeah real quick just cu the comment about there may not be any Rashad Greens on te I’m with you but I would say man there is Young Talent on that offense the guys we were talking about about they’re all freshman and they have real talent and if you have better quarterback play and some decent offensive line play I think those guys could be a building block for what this team could be going forward so again I’m not trying to be Pie in the Sky after it’s been a minute since we heard the eyes you know they’re back to their wien ways when you hear the ice fly out the window um defensively again there’s not much to take Charleston Southern’s one of the worst defenses in in the FCS one of the worst offenses in the FCS they averaged about 15 points a game they didn’t get there a hel under their average they got close there in the by the way for you gamblers that was some high drama in the final 50 seconds you’d like Amari Williams to go catch the kickoff and then you don’t have to sweat it out um but yeah that was a nice stand by the scout team defense to keep them out of the end zone at the 10 yard line but I do think what what’s nice is that yes they overwhelmed them with talent but it wasn’t like the defense was just out there running through the motions you would I think you would have been able to tell that they really did play physical of course they completely dominated their opposition cuz that’s a really really bad offense but they didn’t they they let them hit two big plays the starters you know the starting unit kind of let him hit two big plays and big being like a 20 yard gain that was it so that was good yeah and if you I’m sure you could tell on TV I’m guessing you can tell on TV if you’re watching at the end of the game or if you didn’t watch end of the game but you see the scor not on TV obviously on the on your computer on your computer mobile device the um you know those those last couple drives were against Florida state’s third stringers I mean combination freshman who never played um but there were a couple of nice plays in terms of creating plays ashin Barker finally got an interception he’s probably had three other chances this year that he didn’t come up with it he almost ran it back for a touchdown and then also you had the fumble on a on a punt as you mentioned earlier which was big man this team has not gotten turnovers all year it’s and we said it during the game like this team hasn’t not only has it been bad they don’t ever get a break yeah so was good to get a couple breaks and and again I think that’s you also make your own breaks HRA and that’s obviously been the problem this year but going to this game in particular it’s uh Suarez the walk-on freshman wide receiver he go he had two tackles on punts and he he punched the ball out he tried to punch the ball out and lo and behold the ball came out now it’s luck whether you recover or not but they finally recovered one and then Barker yeah make a play make a play hem made a play and again it’s Charleson Southern we understand that I’ll keep qualifying that but when you haven’t done it against anybody to fact the fact that you did it in front of people with the lights on and and the internet cameras shining bright like that that’s stuff does matter it’s something I think you can take into the next week if you get you see it all the time it’s why Mike Martin used to schedule Sienna to start the season let some hitters get comfortable get some confidence and maybe they can they they’ll be really good the whole season but you want to build confidence any way you can this team honestly it needed Charleston Southern in week two maybe the season feels differently we’re talking about a I don’t know three and eight team well me the reality is five and six te they’ve been playing football now for 3 months and they’ve only had one win and that win the offense didn’t really do anything so this is the first time some of those guys on offense have gone home and felt good about themselves you know we’ll see what it translates to I did like the fact that Mike norell apparently soon as in the postgame locker room before they dispersed he was already talking about Florida yeah and you know we can debate we will debate next get some Gator Gator won two straight beat LSU and Old Miss two big wins that nobody expected them to get they were both at home uh but they’re obviously they’ve got some stuff going with DJ lagway and that that defense is playing well their floor state is going to be a big Underdog for this game but I think it’s good man I think it’s I think they they it’s good that he brought it up right away yeah because he’s going to have to breathe some try to breathe some confidence into this team uh in a game that they’re probably you know going to be a substantial Underdog uh they will be and it’s like you half your coaching staff knows it won’t be here next year probably a lot of your support staff knows that as well it is nice to have the motivation of this game and quite frankly the motivation of knowing if you don’t play well you could get humiliated so you’ve got to prepare and don’t go you know obviously this season is a failure no matter what happens on Saturday but what a nice pickme up it would be just to be be in the game and be competitive and make some plays against a real team that would be nice and I think what happened today maybe can funnel some of that in the next week we’ll see Charleston Southern Florida’s a pretty substantial step up from Charleson Southern I think it’s very similar to the game in 2021 where Florida state was trying to get Bowl eligible and they went to Gainesville gains an interim head coach and they rallied together and they won that game Florida State didn’t play well Florida is Bowl eligible now so you don’t have that to take away but it would be a huge dampener on on what they’ve you know they’ve turned around their season under Billy AP here yeah I’m not expecting it but you know what of course you’re not Co I mean we’ established that but it’s I I’m just happy we get to do a win we got a win we we got a win to talk about we got a win to talk about it enjoy it’s a Saturday that Florida State look man all big three in the State of Florida won woo it’s like feel it’s the 90s again yeah different kind of Dubs you’d say but wins are wins and all three teams are riding high on Saturday heading into the final week of the regular season there was a little bit of news today Elijah Moore freshman wide receiver didn’t play today Mike norell confirmed that they’re going to red shirt him he’s not going to play either of these next two games they may get Roy next game this game they didn’t play today and he won’t play the next game royell Williams Also may be back next week Cam Davis came back from his injury this week so you may have some guys aail be honest I’d like to see kah Holmes get a few more carries I’ll be honest with you that guy’s just a touchdown machine has not played a lot has not gotten a lot of it bats but he had two touchdowns today and they were really team in touchdowns yeah and they were nice runs a jump cut we saw a jump cut from a Florida State running back it’s in a hurdle sort of but I I don’t understand what happened there as far as his playing time but o overall good to see guys just stand in the end zone with the football I’m sure some people are going to watch this and say hey guys why don’t you talk about the fact that they were tied z0 after a quarter we’re not have three nothing in Midway through the second about four or five minutes left we’re not doing that negative NES we’re Focus we F focus on the positive focusing on the win we appreciate everybody that’s been watching us all season including the haters we know you’ve still been hanging around they’re probably not watching this one so we’ll see y’all next week for Cory prove me wrong kids prove me wrong go get a dub next week against FL they’re not unbeatable are they they not D not unbeatable blow five % they can be beat also Luke and uh the storyline of the week luk K and DJ lag lagway were roommates together I you could feel the excitement about that match up uh and you know we’ll see Mike norval didn’t say that Brock Glen won’t play next week but you would have to assume Luke is the guy until he’s not the guy it would be nice to see him have a respectable showing against Florida because as you go into the off season and we’re wrapping up I promise that is obviously one of the enormous questions surrounding this program is who was your quarterback I don’t think you win that job by beating Charleston Southern but if you play well against Florida that certainly gives everybody some momentum and some confidence heading into the offseason no matter who he brings in as the OC last thing on Luke okay so I do think I wonder if he was a little bit nervous in this game his first start but then he got more comfortable as the game went on now the key is Luke you can’t go back to needing to get confident in the game again like you got to carry over what you did in the second half of
