[Music] the Warriors fall short in a wild shootout here Chase Center and a are struggling as a Maverick score 143 on the dubs Luca donic with a triple double we’ll explain that in just a second Klay Thompson a point shot of a season high 30 points and the Warriors even though they made a bunch of Threes it was not enough against the high power Dallas Mavericks and they’ve won eight of their last nine the Warriors going on the other side losing eight of their last 10 we’ll try to figure out the problem here on Toyota Warriors post game live live at gate house here at Thrive city with the Hall of Famer Chris Mullen NBA champion fesa zil I am Bon Hill and every time the Warriors cut it to three cut it to four the Mavericks just had too much Firepower tonight I mean the Mavericks have Luca donic who’s arguably one of the best scorers in the NBA right now he gave us a 45o triple double tonight and that was easy work it looked like he’s in shape now he looks like he’s back ready to work getting this team really organized on the offensive end one-on-one Dallas Mavericks are incredible one-on-one they got Luca they got Kyrie and with those guys breaking down the defense the the Dallas Mavericks were able to shoot 60% from the field tonight it didn’t matter what the Warriors did they shot 27 threes they made all the points going into the paint it didn’t matter they just they just slowly and decisively they just contined to carve out the Warriors offensively yeah Luca Don set the tone in the first quarter uh Mavericks put up 46 points uh as you said Bonte they they built a 19-point lead and never really relinquished it the Warriors played well um never really got over to hump to take the lead uh and and every time they did did make a run it was either Luca Kyrie or Klay Thompson with an answer well let’s bring up LCA donic here because he controlled the tempo from the start of this game scored 15 points in that first quarter and the Dallas Mavericks made their first nine field goals of the basketball game before you blinked they were up 22 to 11 tonight he did everything well for that team he was shooting threes from Deep got comfortable really early and from there all hell broke loose because whenever the the Dallas Mavericks wanted to make a run they just went to LCA he went one-onone and always scored Luca’s numbers are always going to be there he’s always going to have somewhere around a 30o triple double those type numbers but you could see even in warm-ups he’s in much better condition now from when he was the first time the Warriors played him November 12th he’s in better shape he’s moving better he’s pushing the pace uh he’s a little more active off the basketball when he has the basketball in his hands you can see he’s getting by his man getting into the paint as you said Bonte you know three-pointer is the assist the rebounds great balanced attack by luk donic and look he had 299 and8 at the half when he sees that go to State Warriors uniform his eyes light up he’s career-wise in 21 games 31 points a game shooting nearly 50% from the floor and 40 from three the rebounds the assists the steals he just loves playing against Steph Curry a company now they’ve had to upper hand in the Western Conference Finals of course on the way to a championship in the season of 2122 but Luca he just showed whether it’s Wiggins whether it’s Draymond whether it’s kaminga he’s really just tough to stop because he could do it all mid post three-point shots going to the line Fe he has a total package well I think the thing I see this year that’s most improved is his three-point shot he shooting it off the wiggle now like off the dribble he’s coming up he’s pulling up when he has that in his Arsenal cuz normally you want him to settle for shots this is what this what the scarting report was in the past but now he’s shooting at such a high percentage this season that you kind of have to you don’t know what to do you push up on him and he drives by you he’s always playing at his own pace getting down to the middle he’s so big and so strong So Physical has great footwork that he just gets to the line and he’s able to finish as well in the paint so tonight you saw the whole package from LCA yeah when Kyrie Luca and and Clay are getting there numbers all of a sudden Gafford and Lively they’re they’re getting their dunks and their points in the paint the kid Grimes is knocking down Corner three so they really spread the defense out and they’re great passers and they’re unselfish look this coming into the game tonight the Warriors the fourth ranked defense in the league now both teams were scoring at a high clip of course but just shows you what a great offensive team Dallas is it almost doesn’t matter who’s guarding them it’s it’s really on how they play the game offensively if they’re unselfish enough and look the the the um Mavericks are the fourth rated offense and 10th rated defense that’s Championship numbers they play enough defense they got enough physicality to protect uh Luca and Kyrie on the defensive end they scored 81 points in the first half that was second most points the Warriors had given up in the half this season remember that Cleveland game back in Ohio they gave up 86 points in the first half now Klay Thompson he started heating up in the fourth quarter I mean when you have Luca and Kyrie and they’re breaking down the defense Klay Thompson as a shooter this is Heaven for you because then you’re able to just go to the Corner go to your spots and just wait to get the ball they’re great passers at luuka and Kyrie so you just go to the spots and be able to make and be able to get your get your shots whenever you want to but I saw Klay Thompson make plays there towards the end of the third quarter he was one of the guys that really helped him extend the lead again when the warriors were closing in brought it back down the three Klay was driving in making plays and uh man 29 Points for Klay that’s a good second homecoming for him made some nice some nice assists too yeah four assists and five rebounds what you think about the celebration what celebration Klay toson night night celebration well it’s good to see the fans still remembering everything he means for them because every time he would even even on timeouts you would see in there the fans would be looking the clay to say something to him you know celebrating him so for me as a brother who played with him and won a championship with him that’s special to see that what he’s done here is always going to be remembered yeah his on court play is unmatched uh four-time Champion uh those shooting records the incredible games he put together but to me it’s the way he did it his humility his grace uh all sharing you know his time with people and just his uh everyday kind of California clay attitude I think that people really love him for that he was very genuine uh one of my favorite players of all time in NBA history I got nothing but respect and admiration for Klay Thompson now the Warriors made 27 threes which tied a franchise record for most made threes in a basketball game they were 27 of 54 50% you can’t keep them in front of you Kyrie even on a double team he has so many hesitations and so many so many different moves that two guys together still can’t stay in front of him so they’re always going to put you in rotation they make your backside of your defense work and what they did so well is they were able to move the ball and put the make the the second and third guy on the team those guys the Quinton Grimes the you know the Gaffers and the um what’s the big F uh PJ Washington PJ Washington these guys they put the pressure on them to make shots and those guys made shots that that’s what made the offense so so P toight well the Warriors had four players score at least 20 in tonight’s game offensively they were just fine scoring 13 three the last time he did that was in that wild double overtime loss to the LA Lakers last season but the Mavericks got 95 points between clay Luca and Kyrie yeah three of their dominant players and and bont you mentioned Maverick started the game attacking the paint whether it be pick and rolls to The Bigs to kick out for threes dribble penetration and once you’re getting high quality shots and you see a few open ones go in then the contested shots T not is is not as hard but I thought both teams did a really incredible job creating high quality shots uh they said it NBA record for three-o is made in a single game so that’s an amazing offensive stat but to me the difference was the Mavericks they got that 19-point lead once they built that lead they had a little bit of a cushion no matter how much the Warriors and they made some good runs they could never really get past over that uh that that threshold to take the lead and take control of the game so really that 19point uh bulge that that the Mavericks uh developed was really the difference in the game so the Warriors now dropped to 14 and 11 on the season and these are two clubs heading in the wrong direction wi which is why Mike dun Le and company made the Urgent trade for Dennis shuder yesterday and it is now official but you look at this since November 16th the Mavericks now 12-2 best record in the league since then offensive rating off the charts field goal percentage and 3o per is second in the league since that date The Warriors 28th in offensive rating they’re 4 and9 43% from the floor which is 28th in the league and a three-point percentage has dipped so Dennis shuder can’t wait to see a Thursday against a Memphis Grizzlies you’re excited to get a guard like that he’s super talented uh can definitely help the Warriors right now just at least you know New Blood new energy but he’s in competitive one thing I know about Dennis Shuda I’ve seen him compete in different forms you’ve also seen him play with LeBron James so you know he can play with the ball as a point guard he can play off the ball as well but a guy who’s competitive Spirit you’re hoping he can come in and mesh in with the Warriors quickly as they really need that that edit energy right now I think it’s a perfect acquisition Perfect Fit Dennis shudo bring offensively I think he’s going to get into the paint shots he can push the pace playing the pick and roll really great point guard defensively he’s a really good on ball Defender got great length with his arms uh so I think it’s a perfect fit um but to me what it may do is really solidify the starting lineup and really get that bench back to where they were dominating you know first 10 12 games the bench was averaging 60 points per game that’s down to about 46 so kind of reestablishing their identity because I thought to start the season they were way ahead of schedule in my mind because you know they made a bunch of offseason acquisitions but their roles seem so well defined everyone seemed to be locked in so to me it’s kind of redefining that because we saw a good warrior team for a good 14 you know first 14 games they were really good now they got to redefine that part of that is finding a starting lineup you really feel comfortable with and then getting your bench reorganized and they need to stop the bleeding here as a hit a skid here losing eight of 10 Maverick surging to the top of the Western Conference battle alongside Oklahoma City so we’ll dissect the Dennis shoter trade a little bit later later in the program we’re going to hear from Steve C the other side talked about it pregame you know defense is the backbone of this team and tonight you know might have been your worst defensive game of the year what what was the issue the issue was Luca donic that was the issue um you know I think they made their first nine shots I think he made uh three three of them and had three more assists and uh so he was incredible and um you know give give him credit give Dallas Credit um you know they’ve got a a hell of a team made the finals last year uh they spread you out they’re as difficult to guard as as anybody and we tried a lot of different things um but um really proud of our guys they continue to fight night in and night out you know we’ve lost eight out of 10 and there’s zero quit you know there’s some disappointment but there’s zero quit and we’re going to we’re going to climb out of this because of the character and the competitiveness of our guys you spent like about a minute post game talking to Brandon near the bench I mean he obviously had a disappointing game uh anything you can share message u i mean what I guess what do you what did you think about his play tonight about uh Brandon Brandon I thought Brandon did a nice job you know he came in when Steph was out and uh you know had a couple good good stretches uh defensively um you know it’s um it’s a it it’s about you know just coming every night and and competing and and playing and that’s what our guys are doing and I’m very proud of them as I said Steve you guys have been a pretty good rebounding team all year but tonight through the in the core of the game they really kind of own the glass you they were at plus 14 at one point on rebounds yeah um yeah they those big guys um are tough uh you know toh to deal with both um Lively and and Gafford you know they take up a lot of space so they’re either rebounding or taking up um attention and then other guys are coming in to rebound like like Luca who had 11 I think and you know um they got they got a lot of size and and um put put a lot of pressure on you how how difficult is it to try and play uphill against a team with that kind of offense though yeah I mean that was the key we gave up 46 in the uh in the first quarter and we’re playing up Upstream uh the rest of the way um I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a box score like this you know we we go 27 for 54 from three um 39 assists 10 turnovers um you know and we and it felt like we were never really in the game you know we cut it to five a couple times um guys kept fighting but they controlled the entire game on a night where we made 27 threes and didn’t turn the ball over it’s the modern NBA it’s U it’s a different world it’s a different game and um you know 10 years ago you you have you see that kind of offensive stat sheet for for the offense you know for for our team I said we win that game by 20 you know maybe 30 um but they made 21 threes you know they must have shot 65% on twos I mean they you know we just could not contain them at all and uh as I said they uh they dominated they deserved the credit and uh they played a great game thanks oh just the the way that the game flowed for the offense or is there anything you can take away big picture for you guys offensively yeah we did a good job of taking care of the ball um the ball moved well um and our Tempo was good you know I like our our Pace better tonight both um terms of um trying to push the ball up the floor but also our our cutting you know in the half court so yeah we can definitely build on that and um we got uh we’ll take tomorrow off and we got two practices this week uh before heading to Memphis so um we’ll we’ll keep sharpening things up thanks all right that’s Steve Kerr earlier today and we all believe that it’ll be a seamless transition we just saw Dennis shuder with the Brooklyn Nets he was playing some really good basketball he could play on the ball he could play off the ball we know at the point of attack he can defend fezy oh for sure you love the defense part of it uh Dennis shuder is going to be a pest we’ve seen that on our end when he was playing against the Warriors being able to Hound the ball with Steph Curry and just one of the guys that can fight over screens you love that that part of it if you can play one1 defensively you saw that tonight Luca and Kyrie when they have guys on them nobody can play against them one-on-one but when you have a guard that you can trust to go guard the other guy’s best players going downhill that’s important because then your defense doesn’t get broken down on the other hand offensively he can break down defenses his speed his quickness the transition the thing that the Warriors love so much the ways that they can get to makeing 27 threes in the game and then also be able to play defense this is why he says it’s going to be seamless cuz a guy who’s high IQ can fit into the Warriors offense and he’s played for a lot of different coaches for a lot of different teams I think fesus made a good point he’s played with LeBron James so he’s played with star players he could play on the ball play off the ball uh his skill set fits and it’s exactly what the Warriors need Steve ker mentioned they need a pick and role player um to to set the table to get open shots for him and his teammates and I think maybe most importantly the last five minutes of the game he can get get this team organized and make sure they get a good look the look that they want towards the end of the game we saw another glimpse of that tonight in clutch time situation the Warriors failing to execute in critical moments here so now it’s time for a river rock daily jackpot and the Warriors again offensively they were just fine tonight they scored 133 points they shot nearly 48% from the floor they shot 50 from three but I guess you have to play some defense right really that that’s why Steve cerr is like baffled by this fat sheet I am too bully s made threes 39 assists just 10 turnovers and really never really took had any control of the game and it gets it shows you too Bon and Festus in general the NBA is a first quarter league if you win that first quarter especially if you win decidedly not only obviously it helps you build a lead but your impact on the game and the way the game is being played and that was controlled by the Dallas Mavericks they scored 46 in that first quarter and really dictated tempo and Pace to play the entire night uh the Warriors played a good game I mean they they really did but that 19-point lead was really the the biggest difference in the game well I love Steve Kerr’s answer said what’s the problem we got we had a Luca problem all right there was nothing you could do with Luca tonight a 45o triple double is how do you what do you do against that he’s 69ine he’s a point guard he plays at his own pace doesn’t really turn the ball over he’s always in control I thought I think to be able to beat a team like this you got to be able to find ways to play Luca and Kyrie oneon-one they have to find ways to be able to keep them in front of you play without fouling I felt every time the Warriors try to make a run they have big guys in Gafford and Lively these guys would always get offensive rebounds just timely rebounds where you couldn’t get a stop they made their first nine shots in the first quarter to mully’s credit like those first the the first instinct of the game the the Dallas MERS got really comfortable in the game offensively and then whenever they got stuck they just put the ball in Kyrie and Luca’s hands and they always seem to make a play so for the Warriors defensively just couldn’t do anything with them and then offensively at the end of the game The Warriors couldn’t score you know something happened where the ball sticks at the end of the game and and by the way Luca I mentioned this earlier he’s in much better shape than he was on November 12th so that pace of play has picked up for the Mavericks in turn where they have six players in double figures six players in double figures and another crazy stat the Warriors Got 103 field goal attempts to the Mavericks 887 plus 16 yeah four players scored at least 20 Draymond made five threes and I score 21 for that wait what’s the step of Draymond making five threes in the game how many how many games do we win I don’t want to bring that out right now we’re going to leave that in the chamber we’re bringing out Memphis when he makes another three threes all right fezy destroying my stat here they won 16 in the last 17 when he made at least three threes so now that’s 16 in the last 18 okay still a good number it’s an anomaly right still good number so do we need defense then is what you saying we need a little bit defense we need something he say which team going to get three stops in a row was going to win the game did anybody get three stops in I don’t know if anybody got three stops in score the score was 143 to 133 let me ask let me ask you guys this would you rather watch this game or that debacle in houon 9190 I’ll go home and watch this again tonight if I had to I mean Luka was pretty special this that was birdlike that was Lot great lot of Great Performances no doubt Kyrie was special 21 and eight Steph was doing a s wi we haven’t even brought up Andrew Wiggins you had 29 Points tonight the combo of Andrew Wiggins and John and kaminga starting them both together obviously wanting to them to be the defensive Duo that goes against Luca and Kyrie like we talked about Luca and how tough he is to stop but yes Andrew Wiggins to start the game he was the only offense available for the Warriors in the first quarter and then eventually the the team picked up so I love the speed that his which which he’s playing with the way he’s starting the game he looks healthy he missed a few games with his ankle injury now he’s back on the floor so for the Warriors that’s a good news seven made threes in a loss defense I’m not sure what the best way to process it is but the answer to the problem is defense did you see that from the getg go when they arrived at 46 first quarter points y I think they scored a first nine 11 possession something like that you got to set a tone that’s the tone you set it’s a good team the team went to the Western Conference Finals or finals the finals so you set that tone it’s hard to stop a team you know you can do that against the bum teams but you set that tone against a great team you going to have a hard time catching up to follow up on that the tone you said a defensive tone you’re not starting at the moment what are you watching when you when you see them sort of rattle off those points from the bench uh just no Force um you you know Luca played awful last game that he played and he made it a point to come out and correct a mistake and you can see it from the gate uh he did exactly what he was set he set out to do um imposed his will and everybody else over there fell in line L Luca was obviously great tonight it looked like he was talking quite a bit too what’s it like competing against Luca and and also trying to stop him it’s always fun competing against LCA he gonna mix it up with you um you know look a typical Serbian get you the he’s not a Ser he’s not Serbian uh but he’s Slovenian but they’re all right there um and they kind of have this like nonchalant demeanor you know where it’s like ah oh he hit the tough sh and and talking only at times he get liveing here but most of the time it’s like and it’s really cold from busting your ass um but always fun competing against Luca when you get opportunity to play with the greats um or play against the greats you know you always want to see how you stack up what you can do to stop them so it’s always fun competing against guys like Luca you guys have been pretty good most of the season on defense what what went wrong tonight I mean what were you surprised to see them come out as hard as they did on offense or was it them or you guys you got to give them credit uh like I said they OS their will um and I was not surprised that they came out with that attitude um yeah uh every guy that came in the game they impose they will and how hard is it to play uphill against a team that with that many weapons uh it’s nearly impossible you know we were able to cut the league there a few times it kind of felt like we kept cutting it but when you’re playing against a great team that has so many options they can um somebody going to score you know and all it takes is one basket to stop the bleeding D they go on their run so can’t play uphill against a team like that a little different them obviously the previous losses have been a lot of trouble scoring at the end not this game maybe but obviously the acquisition of shuder was meant to kind of answer that what was your reaction to that and how do you think he’s going to fit you guys with you guys um I don’t think he was necessarily the brought brought here to fit um you we play a certain style of basketball that he does not really play um and I don’t think the goal is to get him to play the style of basketball that we play we need someone that can do the things that he does and so I’m looking forward to us suggesting to him uh not necessar you know he’ll have to adjust to some things and he’s a pro he understands that uh but we have to adjust to him because he’s bringing something that this team needs and to just you know uh to just think or make him fall in line of what we do you we wasting our time and even bring him here uh cuz we need somebody that can do what we necessarily don’t do and and I think that’s what he’ll be for us have you gotten a gome through the years do you and he’s definitely a kind of different kind of character but what do you think of his personality just kind of way he carries himself uh definitely got to know him a bit a little bit Through The Years um but I just love the the demeanor that he carries himself with he carried himself like he belong in every room at all times and I respect people like that um so looking forward to obviously being teammates getting to know him better uh but I know who he is and what he is and that’s what’s most important obviously they made this deal the first day they possibly could does that I guess give a signal of the urgency of the moment that that the front office is feeling and maybe the locker room is feeling too yeah for sure um definitely gives that signal of what the front office is feeling and thinking um you know and I’ve said it all along Mike has been great since stepping into that role and you know have that sense of urgy to get that deal done like that you know just continues to show why he’s who he is why he took over the road that he took over and why he’s going to continue to be great in this league as a general manager uh you went five for nine for three tonight what would you say was working for you behind the line uh just shot him uh miss my first one then got a few to go and just kept shooting Steph how involved were you in the conversations you know kind of leading up to the shuder trade and and and what do you think of it um I gots always with Bob and with Mike it’s always a conversation of if anything is real or anything’s worth uh you know having a serious conversation at that point involve me I don’t want to be distracted by what ifs and all that type of stuff so it happened pretty quick to be honest and excited about the opportunity to uh play with a guy that You’ played against for a long time he’s a true competitor uh can create score run an offense or you know a whole lineup so excited to see him plug in you know a guy I can probably play you know with in the back court can handle a lot of ball hand of responsibilities when I’m off the court and gives us another you know guy that can attack a defense and on on on the other side he’s he loves to compete and he you know he he digs in on the defensive end too so should be a seamless transition for him and we’ll see how it looks how much do you feel like like you needed I mean Steve’s talking basically feeling like you know you kind of need a secondary Creator out there I mean do you feel like this is you can really help you for sure it can help me it can help us what helps me helps us in the sense of like I said if I’m on the court or not I know I can play off the ball and you want a guy that can be comfortable with the ball in his hand see the floor make the right reads take advantage of defenses if you know they want to pay attention elsewhere when I’m off the floor like I said a guy that can run in offense you can play pick and roll with him um he’s pretty sound with the ball and youve seen the way he’s scoring this year too so it gives this definitely another another threat and I’m sure he’ll build chemistry with everybody else as well you know wigs JK Draymond maybe even Trac and pick and roll type situations so uh it it should give us another Dynamic score ball handle that that will help all of us Draymond was talking about how he’s really looking forward to adjusting to Dennis not vice versa not him adjusting to you guys um I think he meant like stylistically what do you think he meant by that uh I don’t know what he meant by I just feel like you know you have an idea that he’s a guy that has played pick and role and you gotta pay attention to him he he’s knows when to take his shots he knows when to drive he sees the floor really well and in the sense of how we play moving the ball like I’m sure you you know that type of basketball he can adjust to but you have to cater to it’s what we’ve been talking about all year trying to cater to the strengths of what this team is you know there’s a lot of experimenting that’s been going on with us and it’ll be even more with with with with Dennis in the sense of how he can kind of shift the geometry on the on the offensive end and whether like certain spurts you can just go run through him you know pick and roll and you know pick your poison with Shooters around type Vib so we got to ask him what he’s comfortable with he’s got to understand our go-tos And Trades are tough in the season because you got to pick it up on the fly so we got to be able to do that Steph two questions um have you interacted much with Dennis aside from playing against him do you have any sense for what he’s like as a person uh no I never hung out with him off the court much but you know in inside the lines talk to him I just love his competitive nature like he has he got that dog in him and you can kind of tell he doesn’t talk that much but he’s very animated and he’s I’ve never not seen him in the moment like trying to you know rip your head off type Vibe so I like that and unrelated uh what was it like tonight obviously a lot more hype last time clay came back in his first visit uh seemed sort of more under the radar this time and yet he had obviously a very good game what was that like guarding him again and what uh how much did he sort of key their win in some ways you know beyond Luca yeah I mean the whole circumstance of this being the kind of NBA cup makeup game and you know he had his his his you know return five which was amazing tonight the first six minutes they basically beat us in the first six minutes we did everything we could to kind to try to get back you know in the end the game or keep keep Pace try to get over the hump cut it to you know two possession game a couple times and he hit a couple daggers whenever we were trying to you know get over the hump I had a turnover like that one turnover in the fourth and it finds him for three and you could tell he was a little bit more free tonight just probably emotionally with all the the buildup Luca dominated the game scoring and distributing so he got everybody involved and you know when you give a team 46 points in the first quarter you could probably come back but it’s going to be tough not just because of the margin but because everybody’s feeling good and Clay was a part of that St speaking of clay um he’s closing in on Reggie passing Reggie Miller for fifth on the alltime three-point list um you’re at the top of that list obviously but just for him and everything he’s been through in his career what do you think a moment like or an achievement like that is going to be for him hold on you said fifth he’s going to be fifth he’s 11 away 11 away from TI 12 away from Reggie hold on is me James Ray who’s who’s in am I missing the list he’ll be fourth then right am I tripping Dame Dame’s forth dam is I didn’t know that wait dan caught Reggie hold on you got me confused now I’m looking at I even watched damn I didn’t know that well it’s crazy cuz I passed Reggie three years or is it three years ago and now he’s a he was second now he’s fifth uh and I’m sure at some point I don’t know where the margin is I’m sure he’ll be top three at some point if he you know can stay healthy so I think it’s only fitting that you know me James and clay at the end of our careers are one two three at some point um if that can happen that would be beautiful but um you pass baton off to the the next generation of guys that’ll probably be catching trying to catch us when it’s all said and done so it’s cool that you know me and clay have been doing it for a long time it just didn’t sound right when you said Reggie is fifth I was like caught me off guard good Luka what does it just say about you guys as a team that you know the opponent can make 27 threes and you guys can still win that game uh that means we got to guard better uh uh I think our defense needs uh to step up you know uh obviously our offense we got a lot of weapons uh but at the end of the day you know we got to uh rebound the ball and we re rebound the ball uh we’re a very dangerous team and that’s that’s that’s what we got to do you talked about defense you had two blocks two steals tonight then you had that that trap three then you had that trap in the corner I got to give you that one you had that trap in the corner that forced the turnover just what does it say about you um just on that end and the level of attention that you’re showing lately yeah I mean just uh you know doing it for my team for myself uh I know I had to do better uh you know I think there’s still a lot of improvement uh but I’m trying I’m trying to be to be better especially on defensive end and you know when I’m locked in in defense you know it helps the whole team so uh just got got to do got to do consistently and just follow what I’ve been doing uh lately so can describe what you guys were able to get out of clay tonight sorry what you guys way to get out of Klay Thompson tonight um amazing I man I mean he could have missed uh and he was just you know coming back here uh it’s special for him always uh it’s hard it’s hard to play you know you’ve been here your whole life and then come back and play against them it’s hard uh but it’s you know special at the same time so uh he play amazing today and we just need him to do this every game and I know he can do it so you guys got some big baskets out of Quinton Grimes tonight too just describe his play yeah you know just everybody doing their job uh he was big time today you know he he’s one of the I would say best catch and shooting in this league so uh just got to use him like that more luuka sorry back here clay was very emotional after the game obvious viously excited to get a win here how much does that fuel you guys too wanting to get that win for him a lot uh you know uh he was very hyped at the end you know coming into the locker room uh and it’s amazing you feel happy for the guy you know uh obviously wanted to win the first time here we couldn’t but uh you know the goal was to win now you know and helping get through this and you know this was for him for sure um unrelated to the game but your former teammate with uh Slovenia and Real Madrid Anthony Randolph had retired just what impact did he have on your career and what did you enjoy most about playing with him oh yeah uh amazing guy you know uh just at the time he joined May and Real Madrid obviously he was an amazing player uh I think he he’s from Dallas actually and uh just playing with him was was easy uh then he joined the National Team uh you know and he helped us win that goal you know without him we couldn’t do it so just an amazing player great great person just happy that I could share uh some of my Seasons with him Jason the shot making in this game was just incredible what is your biggest takeaway from the game yeah um incredible um Cup game um I guess that’s the way you look at it um yeah shot making was at a high uh both teams um shot the ball extremely well uh from three um it was a fun game to watch a fun game to participate if you into making uh shots and and both teams did that at a high level tonight let’s talk about the way Klay played tonight I know he had some big shots also yeah Klay played great um you know down the stretch he also got us off to a good start but I think just our composure um clay set some good screens clay came down made some big shots for us um and then also I thought his playmaking was good too um and just again being a veteran being in a a big game situation uh he handled it um like he always has and so again for him I think he could have made that free thr though he would have had 30 um but again I thought he played great for us you could you could tell clay was just super fired up you know down the stretch um what does he what does he bring to this team you know just as a a competitor yeah I think uh he was fired up uh still there’s aemotion here coming back here um winning championships and being in a lot of battles with those guys on the other side um again just his confidence um to be able to make big shots in the rhythm of the offense and then defensively he was big for us um but just his comfort level of getting to understand playing with Luca and Kai uh it takes time but you can see that he’s getting comfortable and again he played great for us tonight you’ve seen Luka have performances like this before what just what stood out the most in a effort where he had 45 points and 13 assists yeah I think the uh the steals um when you talk about being I think he’s is he number two yeah pretty cool defens I thought he made a big steal when um they had to take the ball out on the side um he comes up with the steal again uh the pace that he played with tonight was uh was something that we needed um on the road being able to again take care of the ball but I thought it’s pace of getting everyone involved accepting the double team and finding the a right guy um again just his shots he was making them early and uh and often and uh he was a big reason why we won talked about his defense he had a stop there where he trapped peni in the corner forced a turnover just he said when he’s playing at that level of Defense it makes the team better just would you would you agree with that we’re going to get t-shirts made with that quote make sure you save that quote send that quote to me please um because it’s true um and we all know that um when when he plays defense um he he helps the team in a big big way and so uh for him that def that was incredible uh defense of contesting not fouling and and trying to keep uh pods from making a play and so again we all know that he can play defense uh when he has the energy to put in that that type of defense and it makes the team better um and so we’re going to use that quote that he gave you that you’re going to give us so we can make t-shirts hey Jason good to see you again hey um you mentioned clay taking time to get used to playing with luuka and Kyrie Y in what ways is he more comfortable and better now than say last time you guys were here a month ago you you’ve had he’s had time now to to get a little more adjusted how does that show how does that manifest itself just um time and battle tested you got to go through the ups and downs and understand um different things uh that Luca likes or doesn’t like or what Kai likes or doesn’t like and just you know he’s played in the system um you know here at Golden State for a while we’re not Golden State’s offense we’re a different system uh we have two quarterbacks uh that kind of you know run the show and so for him just to get used to that and it takes time there’s a rhythm to it and you can see that his feet are settled in and he feels confident and the one thing I think you know people don’t really know about Clay is that he is a great teammate even when he’s not in the game he’s cheering for his guys and and I think that’s just incredible for someone who’s won championships um you know to understand that sometimes when you’re not playing because of the depth of our team um he’s still cheering and he still wants to win thanks
