it definitely got a little hairy in a Big Easy in the Emirates NBA Cup game number three the group c standings but the Warriors remain undefeated in group play they beat the Pelicans by four 112 to 108 they’ve won all three matchups this season against New Orleans but a game effort by Trey Murphy the third and Brandon Ingram but not enough to beat the Warriors as adre Wick scored a season high 30 points pods Off the Bench with 11 Steph Curry with 197 and7 and the Warriors improved to 12 and3 as we welcome everybody to Toyota Warriors post live the Hall of Famer Chris Mullen and a couple NBA champions over here fesus ail dur all right I am Bon Hill we’re going to go back to the Smoothie King Center where Brandon Pinsky is standing by as the Warriors get this win here pods good evening man solid game from you tonight 11 points off that bench and can you discuss maybe stacking wins here early in the season in clutch games you guys are now 5-2 in clutch games which seem to evade you last season you guys are doing a much better job in crunch time uh so far this season yeah like you said last year it kind of bit us in butt a lot of times but on a lot of leads and we’re finding ways to win and I think that’s a sign of a good team a championship level team and um Everybody played their part tonight uh whether it was a couple minutes a lot of minutes whatever it was everybody played their part and um you know obviously this is a cup game but it also matters towards the playoffs too so um we’re glad to be thr in the cup but we’re also uh glad to keep the the winning streak rolling what’s up pods it’s D congrats on the win you guys are the number one team in the NBA as far as bench points and the bench in the NBA what’s going on every single night what’s the mindset when you got guys approach the game yeah just impact it uh if we’re down try to take the lead if we’re if we’re winning extend the lead whatever the case is uh just trying to bring our best and you know we got a a bunch of guys that come off the bench that that that could be starting for a lot of other teams and I I think it gives credit to our team um everybody’s willing to take a sacrifice to win and um you know that’s what we do and I think it shows when we come off the bench um I like to think that there’s no let down when the bench guys come in for the starters and so I think it’s a a well-rounded effort by everybody P fist here after a game like this you I I I really love the way you affect the game whether it’s defensively or there offensively creating plays for your teammates you want of the hardest working guys on the team what is your mentality when it comes to to going through some shooting lws you just feel like at some point it’s going to bust wide open for you yeah I just got to trust the work uh right now it seems like I can’t you know throw a rock in the ocean if I wanted to but um you know I think like you said I try to impact the game in as many ways as I can and control what I can control and so um lights like nice like tonight um didn’t make a three uh but I found ways to impact the game and I think that’s why I was out there late P you guys are now 3 and0 in Cup games is there a different energy a different intensity in the NBA Cup games for you guys hell yeah we want that money uh we M here we go uh we so uh I think I think we clinch the pool tonight if uh Dallas beats Denver so we’re hoping that happens um but if not we’ll just go to Denver and have to take care of business um to try to get a quarterfinal game at home there it is get us in Vegas it’s good to catch up with you man good luck tomorrow night in San Antonio thanks fellas any time BR pinski 11 points Off the Bench five of 11 didn’t hit a three but that three ball looked a lot better tonight when he was shooting it and he didn’t finish the game tonight so a nice step in the right direction for pods and of course it go to State Warriors who outlasted the Pelicans they were in another clutch game this was their seventh clutch game of the season last year they were 22 and 22 in clutch games not good enough right well this year so far they’re 5-2 they outlasted to Pelicans there as it did get a little hairy down the stretch let’s pick up the crunch time tape here fellas because the Warriors did going on a 12-3 run in the fourth quarter so I thought you know the fact that they were a little depleted wore on them a little bit uh the bench did a good job they outscored the Warriors bench 4443 which is pretty impressive um but overall I thought they got their numbers down the Warriors got enough from everybody to to squeak out a win but look when when guys are down this is an opportunity for players not only to get minutes they’re showcasing for the rest of the league as well so I thought they played really hard the pel did Warriors did enough I think probably what you said these are games last year the Warriors had a hard time winning so the fact that they’re not playing their aame and getting Road wins really really impressive Robinson Earl and Boston Jr combined for 35 points off the Pelicans bench they play very well well they I’ll go back to you here what do you tell your team because now this is two straight sloppy it’s not as sloppy as the Atlantic gang Wednesday night but a lot of things that clean up here in a win well first thing they cleaned up tonight free throw shooting I think the free throw shooting won won this game uh they shot over 80% so that that’s a positive and look human nature there’s always a little bit of a let down uh when when the star players are not available but again they got the W I think you take you take that away from this it’s a backtack tomorrow keep stacking wins but again I thought the second half their individual defense was much better um the turnover is always going to be a talking point for the Warriors but I think overall is doing a good job there and tonight they made their free throw so look now they’re 12 and three right so so you know you can nitpick and you want to get better after wins but they’re still playing at a high level 12 and three it’s 12 and three right absolutely especially when you have brand uh Andrew Wiggins playing at such a high level as he is right now that’s the one thing you could take away from the game tonight nine for 14 for wigs and on the other hand defensively holding Brandon Ingram to 7 for6 that right there is two-way wigs and when you have the X Factor like I called him before the in the pregame when you have the xfactor playing like that you give your team a chance to win like they had tonight all right go ahead do right I was going to say when you’re a 12 and3 team you’re doing so well you need these type of games cuz that coach needs to show you film of the mistakes you made so that was a great game where they can learn from Draymond Green was doing a great job being a facilitator with the ball you know at the end of the day the thing we keep talking about is free throws this is something that’s really important the Warriors being a small team a shooting team there’s no way that there should be last in the NBA in shooting free throws but tonight responding to that to that adversity responding to that call the challenge of making your free throws and tonight shooting 75% from the free throw that was huge real quick tjd in his hands he has very good hands he CCH everything down to the paint 9 points8 rebounds good hands good IQ tjd is a big man he continues to grow this his second year in the league and you just see that you see he got getting a little bit of muscle in the offseason coming in making an impact in the game I love his adjustment you know the first half he was struggling finishing around the rim second half just dunk the ball hash dunk him tjd I love that and Bully we got to talk about Andrew Wiggins Here Andrew Wiggins has been on a heater this week and he’s had a very solid season tonight season high 30 points might be in the conversation for Western Conference player of the week look at these numbers right he’s hooping man we the two-way wigs made us look real good today after speaking highly about him in a pregame and he came out and he was nothing but spectacular tonight so great game from two-way wigs we want to see him continue to grow keep getting better because he’s back to like you just mentioned at 2022 he look at this first time since 2022 when he scored at least 20 in three consecutive games again the season High tonight 30 points all week long he scored at least 20 he has a perfect opportunity tomorrow in San Antonio against Harrison Barnes a company to really put up another good stat line I mean we has been he’s been phenomenal those numbers are trending upwards you know for him he he’s really responded to this challenge of you know coming into the game finding ways to be that second secondary score that the Warriors need tonight it wasn’t really a lot of shot making around you know the Warriors only make 12 12 threes from the three-point line know this is a three-point shooting team but Andrew Wiggins everything you wanted efficiency numbers from the three-point line three for five from the free throw line 9 for n so the aggressiveness getting to the paint making sure he drives and gets to the paint when the shots not falling from the outside was valuable tonight and I thought tonight the fact that they didn’t let the previous games dictate their aggressiveness sometimes that does have an effect on you when you’re not making your free throws you’re not as aggressive getting to the line I thought all the players were really aggressive they knocked him down tonight there was a big difference yeah nine for nine for Andrew Wiggins a G from the free throw line he’ll love that when he takes his post gave shower he goes beat the media after another 30-point night here but we’re going to hear from Steve cerr the Warriors with the cupcake fellas they’re three and0 in the cup look at this floor dude look at this floor I’m getting a little dizzy here I’m definitely dizzy Warriors role players tonight we touched on man the pregame show who’s going to step up for DeAnthony Melton here’s the role players JK off the 20 minutes seven points four rebounds two assists buddy Hill had a big three in the fourth quarter 12 points to six rebounds Off the Bench pods who we just interviewed one of his best nights in weeks Lindy waters are third 15 minutes got the start didn’t score tonight he’s still trying to find it in Moses booty as well so one of these guys are going to have to step here for danthony Belton who was a career 37% three-point shooter the New Orleans Pelicans they just had guys come in the game they were just hungry and they came out there in this show so the bench for the Pelicans one of the few times they’ve outscored the Warriors bench but I thought they came in and they did exactly what they were supposed to do shots were not falling they were still playing defense I mean a lot of different lineups Steve cerr went to tonight with the different guys you got gp2 Moses Moody Draymond Green uh Andrew Wiggins and Steph and it was like this is a new lineup and we’re back to that start of the Season Feeling Again where we had different lineups on the floor and we’re trying to figure out which which guys go with which guys so with DeAnthony Melton out right now it’s going to be about reshuffling the deck and figuring out what guys play well together right now yeah I just look at that as a really good road win you know we heard Steve kpri again this is these are games you’re really worry about you know you got three or four main players out for the opposing team human nature and natur you put your guard down a little bit first half they come out play really hard you know their efforts there as far as the Pelicans go so they had a good out this win it wasn’t perfect but again they’re 12 and three now I’m trying to figure out what F you’re a different guy now man put the glasses on all hey you’re supposed to let them figure it out I was going to go to you and talk to some defense here because they held the Pelicans at 35% shooting in the second half Fe he I mean at the end of the day this is I mean the shots were not falling we talked about that they won the game on the free throw line but before that the defense the physicality you can see even Steph all the way to the three to the to the half court line being physical imposing as well because to to start this game the lless Pelicans they really set the pace if you look at how much you know they got about five more shots than the Warriors and the Warriors usually get they like to get into the 100 field goal attempt area right now tonight’s 87 and so that that that fast pace was not there tonight 17 turnovers all those but the Warriors did a good job in the second half really readjusting bringing that physicality that was the reason they got the win today you know D right KB and Zena discussed the upcoming schedule right Wednesday against Atlanta tonight against New Orleans tomorrow’s against San Antonio who’s playing better basketball this past week they got the big win against the Pelicans Tuesday night stacking these wins up before the schedule heats up is very important so you have a chance to play Brooklyn on Monday going three and one in this four game stretch is what the Warriors want yeah that’s what you want and you know going back to Pat Riley days win the games you’re supposed to win so these are the games they’re supposed to win on paper but you still got to go out there and execute the game plan play hard you know and make the right decisions in play so it’s a great opportunity opportunity to you know get a little space on the rest of the league that’s right yeah and you’re not going for style points y Bon you mentioned the second half defense at halftime I mentioned Pelicans were shooting 54% for the field they wind up shooting 44% so it’s a great job defensively and from the three and as fesa mentioned they really won the game from the free throw line Pelicans had two more field goals I think they had the same amount of made threes plus seven from the free throw line over 80% that’s a huge improvement from the last from especially from the game against the Clippers all right let’s check out the team stack comparison from tonight the Emirates NBA Cup game Warriors undefeated in group play they can advance to the quarterfinals with a Denver l tonight against the Dallas Maverick so they shoot 44.2% just 32 from the three-point line as you fellas mentioned just 12 made threes but the free throws 22 of 29 including Andrew Wiggins going nine for nine for the charity strike they have rebound to Pelicans they almost get to 30 assists there just three short they’ll take their show on a row tomorrow to San Antonio but first let’s hear from Steve Kerr presented by BMW uh what flipped defensively in the second half I think we got our legs underneath us um you know long travel day yesterday and uh no shoot around this morning um sometimes in these situations it takes you a little while to to get get the the juices flowing so you know to hold them to 45 in the second half was was the key to the game what kind of group is Andrew in right now offensively yeah Andrew is is feeling great um you know you saw him knock down all the threes early his free throws U he looked fantastic out there as defense um on Ingram so a lot of good stuff what how would you assess just the last minute and a half kind of not great not great but um you know a game like this um you take the win and you and you run you know you just get out of the arena and get to the airport and enjoy the the win and watch the tape later and figure out what you can do better but um so this was going to be a tough game um you know obviously get them getting Ingram and Murphy back and you know A desperate team I thought um they played really hard tonight right from the beginning set a tone and um fortunately we responded but um I thought they outplayed us for much of the game um they only had 10 turnovers um we had 17 um so we’ve got to be better but um again thrilled with the with the victory would you make a frame kind of allaround activity with what he with BP he was great I mean he’s uh he’s such a good rebounder he had so many big ones there in the second half um he uh you know he makes the right play over and over again moves the ball the game just connects when he’s on the floor so um he was great a lot of guys I thought loon in the second half made a huge difference for us so um you know we’re just trying to find different guys each game and um it’s um we have a deep team and we we’re confident we can find a group um each night that’s going to be able to to take us home go with everybody tomorrow yeah I I that’s the plan we’ll see how everybody holds up um and and and comes out of the the the aftermath of this game but that’s the plan coach before you mentioned that you see a lot of similarity between this team and then 2022 when you guys win the championship is the reason why um Andrew gave you guys such a confidence and he back to like a 2022 himself yeah I think Andrew is a huge part of that he was um such an important player in that um that playoff run he was so good for us and um you know between that and the the depth you know adding veteran players who are really strong leaders um guys like Kyle and and um buddy and melt um reminds me a lot of when we added Gary pyton and beita and Otto Porter in 22 so the team has a similar makeup and a good chemistry and um it’s been u a pleasure coaching these guys guys and um it’s you know we have we have really good chemistry in our in our locker room and those are always fun Seasons when you when you can feel that what has changed from this season compared last season from Andrew wi I think defensively oh from from Wiggins I just think he’s uh he’s in a great frame of mind the last couple years have been very tough on him um on a personal level and I think he’s got some peace of mind he came in Camp in great shape um you know he’s he’s got a great family um behind him um he’s got a lot of good things going for him in his life and he’s in a really good place thank you wig playing some really good basketball but so is the chef Stephen Curry he’s taking a background at Andrew wiggin this past week but 19 points seven assists and you just see the chemistry evolving with the big man I watched the game from the big man perspective so when he gets those chem that chemistry with him his game continues to evolve I’m talking about tjd if you get chemistry with Steph you get to stay on the floor a little bit more and so I love to watch the team find ways to get Steph open and in turn get themselves open because that’s what his gravity does I thought Steph Curry did a great job with just getting that ball out of his hand pretty quick uh Willie Green we know spent some time here so he knows what Steph Curry needs to do to get slowed down so showing multiple bodies and they did that he got the ball out of his hand a few of those shots he did take were were great looks for him but I just like the fact that now with this team he doesn’t have to score 30 40 points for this team to win he could have a night like tonight feel the stat sheet up and they still come out with a win so great team win yeah I think that’s a great Point d right and and what Steph does what a lot of star plays don’t do when he gives that ball up he continues to move so he still spaces the floor and then grab even gets um magnified because they’re still chasing him off screens after the double team so that puts the defense in a big time Scrabble situation no doubt the one knock on Steph and Draymond who will’ll touch on right now just eight turn they had eight of the 16 turnovers tonight so Steve K touched on that hey we don’t have the margin for error you got to take care of the basketball better care of the baskball Steph and Draymond will probably clean that up tomorrow but speaking of Draymond Green three threes again three made threes tonight for DayDay second half he just became a playmaker that’s part of where where Draymond Green really loves to thrive when he’s getting the ball to his teammates and tonight he he just did a great job you know a couple turnovers there at the end but Draymond G will always find a way to make it up so big rebounds at the end and making his free throws to ice the game at the end yeah he talked about last game how Andrew Wiggins had to score points he understands he has to score more points this year as well and I love the fact that he just is catching and shooting and you could tell he know it feels good and it’s going in because when he released that ball he’s already running half court that tells me he has a lot of confidence in his shot and he believes every shot he’s shooting is going to go in and that’s the difference in this offense right when you get face to Florida he’s hitting those threes right there three and four tonight for Draymond Green in the win as warri approved to 12 and three and can’t sleep on tjd he he’s he’s really maturing into an all-around player Steve Kirk can use him as the trail big because he can do the dribble hand off as I said he’s a nice passer he just got a really good feel how to get himself open around the baskets where we can just catch and finish I love the fact he’s always in the right spot every single time he understands spacing he understands being in that dunker area getting behind the defense and that’s where you going to live at you going to get those you know putbacks the different lobs and things like that so tjd getting better and better every single game and this one of the first games in the wild where you see tjd playing down the stretch just earning that trust from Steve cerr and his game evolves where they’re trusting him with the ball at the top of the key making plays you see him with some back door Cuts with some other players he had this crazy left-handed pass to the corner uh to Lindy Waters his playmaking his IQ it just continues to develop and they’re going to need tjd down the stretch there’s a lot of big guys a lot of teams that play Big in the west and you need the big guy tjd to be at his best and I look I look at that combination Willie real quick Looney and tjd combined 29 minutes tonight 16 rebounds for the Big Fellas I was going to say I always mentioned how no matter what lineup Steve Kerr puts out there they’re basically playing smaller than their opponent they’re second in the NBA rebound wow so that’s great spacing uh great anticipation and and you got to give credit to Draymond Lon and tjd man they’re they’re outmatching the opponent’s big players and they get a big win down there in New Orleans a cup win that’s right three know in group play D right who might be going to Vegas soon by the Warriors outlasted the Pelicans absolutely every Tuesday and Friday in November my heart rate starts pumping my palmm starts sweating I see the floor and it’s on where down three and0 they can click to spot in the quarterfinals if Denver loses to Dallas so I want that cup right there that Banner cuz we will wear the t-shirts we’ll wear the hats when they win it and I want that banner I kind of want it right next to number 17 hey I like that do you get cigars when you win this you see the Lakers are pop the champagne last year okay yeah they went crazy M’s going to go crazy Fe is going to be the Grand Marshal of that parade okay first of all the goal is to cele Cate the NBA Cup Championship yes but to keep going because the people who won the nor Cup last year the Los Angeles Lakers it seemed like after they got done they forgot that there was a season left the rest of the season so for the Warriors it’s about winning but having the big goal in mind which is a a national champ NBA championship World Championship right well well I don’t want to get that’s above my pay so the Warriors you heard pjy in the post interview said yeah we W that cup we want that better so it’s on the players Minds right now so money want that money give me my money everybody wants some money right twoway wigs is back season high 30 points man you can’t speak enough about him and his week here Draymond Green making the threes they’re just playing very well as a team and who who who would have thought it a 12-3 start for the goto State Warriors with an opportunity to go to 13 and3 to start the season 10 games over 500 and then you ramp up for the schedule here but a great start for the Warriors this season be right yeah these guys came in to training camp locked in everybody came in shape and they got off to a great start you know they took a few losses but they always bounc back that next game so um you know the championship pedigree that’s still on this team they understand we want to try to get another one I’ve he Draymond Green talking you know I hear these guys you can see it in their body language that they’re trying to shock the world once again you know Kendrick Lamar dropped the album today what did they say every time he drops the album raise up the trophy when the when they album and the Warriors go undefeated in preseason they raise a so that’s what they say that’s what the people say let’s listen to the stat so we’re working till June bully no doubt well top t top five offense top five defense and look Steph Curry’s missed three games DeAnthony Melton was missing games now he’s out for the season they haven’t always played their aame and they’re 12 and three they found different ways to win um tonight Pelicans actually made more field goals 4139 threes were the same they both made 12 but tonight the thing we’ve been talking about as a minus for them the free throws was a difference so they found different ways to win when they don’t have their aame that’s the sign of a team that plays deep into the playoffs and that’s what they’ve done Steve Ker’s teams when they get off to this type of start and they’re top five offense top five defense they go to the finals three and0 without Stephen Curry this season yeah I mean the the best number that I love is the bench points I was a bench player bench mob is really rolling it just shows the the cohesiveness they come into the game and they they try to make an impact it’s faster they play defense they running around a lot of bench players close games buddy Hill has been phenomenal and you could just mix and match whoever it is that comes into the game they find a way defensively offensively I thought Gary pyton was doing a great job on Brandon Ingram you had put a a smaller Gary Peyton on a bigger Brandon Ingram is still being out there being effective being forceful on the defensive end so number one scoring bench in the NBA and it’s not a mistake by far 55 points a game from the bench that would be an NBA record right Clippers had the record with 53 points a game coming off their bench and speaking of the bench BR Pinsky solid night hopefully he could build off of this I know he didn’t hit three-point shot but he looked just so much more at ease after looking like he’s been pressing over the last couple weeks yeah you just got to let the game come to you as cliche as that sounds that’s basically what you got to do let the game come to you I felt like those five threes he did take were all quality shots I think one shot was uh you know to beat the shot clock but every shot that he took was a quality shot he just got to keep staying in that gym getting those reps in and start falling for him your threes don’t fall you go to you go to the line you go to the you go to the paint you go to the rack he was five for six from the from just going straight and then Brandon pinski has different ways that can affect the game and what you see from him defensively offensively he’ll be fine you know you go through shooting slumps as you guys will know y’all are Shooters y’all go through shooting slumps and eventually they find that but along the way you find other ways to impact the game and that’s the mark of a good player yeah uh pods is one of the hardest workers we know that he’s always in the gym he’s a gym rap he’s still playing um good winning basketball the shots will come I always look as D wri said is he getting good looks if you’re going to get good looks we heard Steph talk about he and Buddy Hill right they put their time in but they work to get open so one as soon as long as you’re getting open shots it’s only 15 games into the season he’ll he come around they’re going to need him to too like all the stuff that he does besides scoring is really important but it’s some point with melting out he’s going to have to get that you know his percentages up um I feel solid I feel solid I feel like I’m in a pretty good Rhythm right now what you like about the your shot guy tonight look like a everything mix of everything then of course free throw line what did you like um I mean like you said just you know a little bit of everything you know just trying to you know keep myself you know involved stay assertive um stay aggressive and just try attack the rim yeah obviously came out with a lot of force in that first half what was key about weathering that storm second half um just being able to take their punch you know um you know they’re a good team they got some Talent you know and they play hard you know they play hard so just you know being able to you know take that punch and be a to counter and you know do what we do flip defensively the last two quarter guys um I mean we we just in the locker room like we need this game you know we got to we got to step it up you know especially defensively and get into them and be the aggressors and that’s so we did this undefeated NBA cup play could to the quarterfinals tonight depending on what happens with Dallas and Denver how how significant is that for you guys at this stage of the season to be undefeated to have you know the chance to to reach Vegas yeah I mean that’s that’s our goal you know that’s what we want to do we want to you know win the whole thing you know we think we got a good chance we got the squad for it um so we’re hopeful
