and Dennis shuder with a huge three with 123 left in the game and he finished with 11 points a big deep three there one of seven for the three-point line we’ll talk to him in just a second as I welcome in the pride of YZ NADA NBA champion FES I am vonte Hill it’s going to take a while to calm this big fella down back in the will winning col I listen I I wanted to see a fight from the Warriors tonight and that’s what you saw from the start of the game Big buckets down the stretch by Dennis shuder by Jonathan kaminga and it’s so good to see Steph and Draymond Reen on this game tonight oh yes I’m excited with you I didn’t know you were me I’ll wait for your thoughts about that no it’s all good no this is exciting to see the Warriors get back into it playing Warriors basketball moving the ball up and down the court transition defense especially picking things up in the second we din shooter ready he’s ready to roll here the new guy New Man On Campus here dinner shooter welcome to Toyota Warriors postgame live fet Z zenada and of course Bonte Hill and Dennis man that three 123 left a huge three how good did that feel for you cuz we know been a tough adjustment coming into the system coming over from the Brooklyn Nets yeah it’s been tough uh I mean my family is not here you know my kids my wife um everybody still in Brooklyn I’m adjusting to it I mean the guys took me in um really comfortably and um I’m really comfortable already with those guys but uh that three felt good tonight hey Dennis it’s festers here you’ve been through a few trades you’ve been through some transitions with different teams what is your comfort level right now cuz tonight I saw a different level a different side of you tonight yeah at the end of the day I got to compete on a defensive end on the floor that’s what I that’s what I did for 12 years um even before I got to the league so uh I got to be really uh aggressive on the defensive end and um everything else going to going to fall in line I think my shot I’ve been working on it every single day um I’m going keep taking those but uh on the defensive end I think we got to set the tone and that’s what we did tonight Dennis it’s Zena here I’m happy you brought up the defense because your activity getting hands in place being able to disrupt what the suns were doing was huge but then also your ability to penetrate the paint was big with the Suns not having you know use of nkit in the middle what part of your game did you like the most in the ways that you impacted tonight’s win I think the defensive side like you said uh I think we had great activity everybody was really active everybody covered for each other and I think that’s what we got to do and that’s Warriors basketball um and on the offensive end everybody just sharing the ball uh we’re not playing with no egos everybody’s sharing it everybody’s touching it and we playing fast and um the shots going fall love that no doubt about that Dennis we know tjd and Draymond were huge in the front Court they played excellent basketball well how about that young fella coming off the bench right now Jonathan kaminga back toback 34-point nights what’s impressed you so much about Jonathan kaminga so far since you’ve been here with the go to State Warriors I mean just as um how professional he is uh every single day it don’t matter matter what you know it’s thrown to him um he’s always positive always makes the best out of it always try to get better and uh we’ seen it the last two games I think when he’s screening wo and um Draymond catching it in the in the in the pocket and then he uh going to the basket um they got great chemistry and what he been doing um the last couple of games is really impressive well Dennis welcome to the Bay Area hopefully your family will be joining you soon here as you get acclimated to life on the west coast man great game tonight and great win thank you thank you thank you congrats any time Dennis shuder here on Toyota Warriors postgame live and that huge three for him felt like the weight of the world was lifted off of his shoulders you can see him saying finally finally I had an impact on the win and even as you said it you saw the smile come across his face you can see that that meant a lot to him and I love that he said we’re not playing with any Egos and that’s what you saw tonight overall just the way that so many different warriors were able to impact the game yes Jonathan kaminga got his 34 points but how did he get a lot of those with a lot of assists a lot of transition buckets everyone being involved in the way that the Warriors won this game I I know I’m sitting in Chris mullen’s seat and I’m supposed to be talking offense when I’m in Chris mullen’s seat but man I I want to talk about the defense you held the Phoenix Suns to 18 points in the fourth quarter that for me was the difference in this game because at the halftime we talked about you know the offense and you know guys getting guys going but they were shooting 53% from the field at halftime the Phoenix Suns wor so the Warriors did the good job in the fourth quarter limiting shots to for Kevin Durant making sure you play without fouling all these things down on the stretch and there you put the ball in Jonathan kinga’s hand you put the ball in Dennis scher’s hand Steph Curry making plays at the end of the game this is what you want from the Warriors it’s not just about putting the ball on Steph Curry’s head Steph is great yes but his ability to create shots the and the thing that makes him so dangerous is the fact that he creates shots for other teammates and that was Warriors basketball right there at the end and that was something I was concerned about let’s remind ourselves of the halftime score 65 to 61 there weren’t much defense happening in the first half but keeping the Suns to just 40 points in a half when you’ve got Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal on the opposite side of the ball cooking that is impressive locked in team defense from the Warriors yeah great traps great doubles timely doubles there and the Suns went scoreless for over 6 minutes in the fourth quarter Nation need wi real right here DB Nation needed win in the worst way after last night the way it went down going down by 19 going into the fourth quarter but you know what Zena maybe they did bottled up that fourth quarter with the youngsters pinski kaminga Moody and it came out fast tonight I know they hit a little l in that second but for the most part I saw a spirited effort on both sides of the floor it’s funny when I talked to Brandon psky in the pregame he said yeah you got to keep up with the young guys I’m like Brandon aren’t you part of the young guys too and unfortunately he had to go out you know he had an abdominal strain but the energy was definitely rampant throughout the entire team specifically on that defensive end when you saw those clips though in that crunch time number one thing you noticed going to the basket and that was what you saw at the end of the game last night coming back into this game attack attack attack attack and that was successful for the Warriors to be able to find some easy buckets at the end of the game plus eight points in the paint the GL Warriors tonight it gets Phoenix and JK had a lot to do with that and look at this our boy DJ with the Tweet he’s up to 31 points he finished with 34 he’s a first Warriors player since 7576 to have back-to-back nights with 30 points Off the Bench so it doesn’t matter to me whether he starts or come off the bench I’m looking at the minutes play right last night over 37 minutes fezy tonight 34 minutes and 27 seconds well it was so important that Jonathan kaminga and his his Youth and athletism it was all on displ tonight because this is also a back toback and so he just did it 30 points and back backto back nights it was done in a spectacular way in one way he was guarding Kevin Durant on one end and on the other hand he was scrolling driving to the basket running in transition this is what the Warriors need from JK and what I saw from him that I love the most is he just looked like he wanted this win so bad it was kind of uh it was it was kind of like a storybook ending the fact that they put him on the free throw line at the end of the game are you going to ice this thing or not he hit those two free throws to send the Warriors up one and then had the the two again so JK right now is playing incredible basketball the team is figuring how how to play him with Steph Curry because that right there is a combination him Steph Draymond wigs like that lineup together is starting to become really lethal I mean it was athleticism on display but it’s from the offense to defense to offense that’s how you want to play ball think about that sequence they’re down nine fans are thinking about you know what maybe we’ll beat the traffic Maybe will get on immunity train here and just start our night early they’re down nine he says you know what give me the ball at the top I’m going that plumbley then you go to car Kevin Durant Kevin Durant Cy Money Sniper he’s a bucket and he gets a Ste and a gets a dunk on the other end that flipped the game so two things one of them is last night going against the the Clippers last night in the fourth quarter JK took over the game yep and tonight you see JK building on that confidence that he had last night first of all on the offensive end shout out to the whole team for clearing out understanding that hadon Plum and that was a mismatch the mismatch was JK going against the big man going into the paint that says a lot right there his strength his athleticism but it’s also confidence and JK is playing with a lot of confidence right now but his speed his athleticism his size his defense everything was on full display JK is vying and letting you guys know that he has arrived and tonight was a great showcase for that and that pass let’s just be real it was behind him a lesser athletic player would not have been able to catch that in stride catch it finish it and then you know be able to finish it at the basket I mean he’s doing everything right now for the Warriors and it is really beautiful to see his teammates constantly tonight you saw Steph Curry defer right to JK several times giving him the ball giving him the opportunity you cook you cook you got this and so it’s really beautiful to see the entire Warriors buy into hey he’s our guy right now he’s cooking he’s hot he’s got the hot hand let’s go we shouldn’t be surprised though fezy cuz we’ve seen this from him we saw it last season when they made a big deal remember he didn’t play the last 18 minutes of that Denver game when yit hit the 25 foot3 and the whole story came out that Dev was hey I need to play I need to play I want out and from that point on he averaged 20 a game and he was a stabilizing Force within the offense so I’m not too surprised that he’s doing this this is his fourth season he’s 22 years old he’s got a lot of refs you like that athleticism right there like that me you shouldn’t be surprised we shouldn’t be surprised that we’re seeing this from J the K we got athletes on the court we got athletes out here Inon you know JK right now I think the biggest thing I’m seeing in JK that’s not the fact that he can do this we know we’ve seen JK do this even his rookie year we saw him do this in Miami we’ve seen games of JK but now what I love that I’m seeing is that he’s doing it consistently he’s doing it when it counts he’s doing it when it matters and he’s also doing it with Steph Curry and Draymond on the floor this is the the purpose of any kind of adversity adversity usually blooms something inside of you and what I see right now the Warriors are figuring out how to play together they have not lost that competitive the competitive fire the ability to stay close yeah we make the joke about the Warriors leading leading the league right now and staying close and being in clut games but the truth is there are in this game so it’s now how do you make the play to finish that out JK is a factor but I love the fact that Dennis Shooter’s affect I love the fact that Trace Jackson Davis had a double double tonight all the guys are playing together and that is Warriors basketball right there you left one thing out I guess I got to take over your seat he’s doing all of what you just said and playing defense I mean think about who he was guarding in that fourth quarter last night James Harden James Harden turn around in this quarter in this game Kevin Durant I mean this is crazy crazy work that he’s putting out on both sides of the ball all right I can’t hear Teddy right now so I’m just going to tease a break I think that’s what he’s saying he’s say wrap this up oh tjd okay let’s go tjd then let’s go tjd oh we got tjd waiting on us I know air Indiana I apologize man you’re putting on the show right now uh tonight 16 points 10 rebounds you feel like you’re playing your best basketball of a young career right now absolutely um went through a little law early in the season so my confidence teammates the Vets they’ve all been with me throughout this uh ride but coach always says it’s a season full of high and lows and I’m just trying to stay consistent yeah what is coach saying at this time tjd what what do you say in moments of adversity keep you guys holding on to the Rope I man he always says in Seasons there’s high and lows and uh you can’t get too high you can’t get too low we’ve been in fights we’ve been in dog fights and we just got to get over get over the mountain toop and so tonight it felt good to finally get one and we just got to continue to build off it trace it felt like tonight you all were playing so connected and you we talked to your teammate Dennis shuder he said that no one was playing with any egos tonight it was just Warriors basketball what were the huddles like what were the conversations like throughout the game did you feel more connected than previous game games um I wouldn’t say more connected but I think everyone in this game was just they were getting it out quick and I think when we play with Pace like that um it’s tough for teams to guard we getting stops on defense and playing with pace and that’s really what coach has been uh emphasizing tjd I see you playing with a little bit of anger right now which I love to see I see you playing with some aggression out there finishing over other bigs what has been the difference for you in these games these past few games yeah just trying to bring enery for my teammates um I know everybody feeds off of it whether I get a dunk whether I get a block just showing that emotion uh the aggressiveness and uh just continue because it not only does it amp my teammates up it also amps me up my God no tjd you’ve been in rims lately and I got to wonder the All-Star game is behind us in the month of February are you thinking about the slam D competition we’re trying to get JK in there I’m trying to get somebody here with to go to St Warriors you’re getting up there a Indiana let’s see uh I don’t know about all that but my aggs are they got some mileage John them from college now but JK I can definitely see him being in it oh man that’s disappointing me TJ D I want to see him go you see the TX why are you starting why you we’re just excited to see you playing well TJ D congrats on a big win tonight good job big fell I appreciate you guys anytime Trace Jackson Davis with a double double tonight 16 points 10 rebounds and four block shots we’re going to hear from Steve C the other side about how the dub snack their losing streak they got a win Zeta hey you for about getting kaminga moving getting him action that where he’s going to get towards the rim was that what happened tonight is that what you saw from him T especially that on the last play obviously gets the gets the pass from Draymond gets fouled uh just what was going on to get him free like that I just think he’s turning a corner I just think he’s uh you know he’s seeing the pictures well um he made a play late in the game where he swung the ball to Draymond immediately pinned in for Steph and um and Steph got a three he didn’t make it but it’s that’s the play where you have to recognize um Steph’s your teammate you know you see he’s cutting through the lane swing the ball and go set a screen for him and those are the type of plays that uh if he makes you know and and and he’s doing what he’s doing getting downhill getting fouled getting to the rim um now the the mix the blend of of Steph Draymond JK now it starts to really get powerful and I’m just uh I’m so ressed with with JK it just feels like he’s turning a corner and um played so hard last night and again tonight the rebound at the end just before he got fouled um you know he came out of nowhere along the Baseline uh to make that play I think he had about seven boards in the second half um he was it was fantastic and this is exactly what um what we’re looking for and it’s fun to fun to see him you know deliver and how huge were those free throws that he made I mean were you were you thinking about how big they were for him of course of course I mean you know down one and um you know the stretch we’re in like we needed this game badly and U and obviously he struggled from the line this year so I thought it showed a lot of guts for him to step up and knock them both down feels like you’ve you’ve gotten him on you know facing centers in kind of space the last two nights zubot and even Plum Le tonight I mean how much do you want to try to get him into those actions where he’s going at bigs in space sure yeah we’re we’re trying to do that um I think uh what I like is that he’s um he’s not settling for you know the the 17 foot pullup he’s trying to get to the rim and then if it’s not there he’s uh kicking it out and then late clock he’s one of the few guys who can create um a shot or you know that’s where that mid-range shot comes in into play so I just think the uh the process is better uh overall for him we I I do feel like there’s been several points you know through his four years that it has felt like maybe he is turning a corner waxes and wains I mean but you do sound maybe a little bit more confident this this feels different to me it really does there’s just a different um Force to his game um last night you saw all the times he he just um ran the floor um ran through the catch and attacked the rim um the nine rebounds tonight um you know the the Timely plays that he made um it just feels different it it feels like uh you know he’s U he’s figuring out how to impact winning which is obviously the main the main thing Steve how much of that difference is having him back up back-to-back games the way he did last night and tonight that’s a big deal you know um to that’s what great players do they stack together you know um multiple games and U so we’re um you know we’re going to stay with this uh rotation um you know with with him coming off the bench it allows us to get our defense set with Draymond and and Trace and then he comes in and plays with both of those guys that gives him the space he needs at the four um but you know we closed tonight with him at the three defensively with trace and Draymond and and um you know that that would be ideal if we can get to that point where he we can play him you know at at the three and the four but um I like where where he is and I I think I think our team has a chance now to to rebuild our momentum I think this was an important win you you referenced before the game you talked about the importance of of JK playing with Steph and Draymond I guess you just referenced it but what was different about that tonight that when he was out there with them what what uh what worked better what yeah there was a good mix of uh of him attacking but also Steph getting getting his looks and um and I referenced that one play um to Tim you know where he swung it and pinned pinned for for step set the screen for him those are the type of sort of organic actions that you have to recognize when you play with Steph and and I thought that was a big play but uh he’s just doing a better job of um moving the ball quickly if there’s no Advantage you know recognizing the advantage and Swinging it and so we’ll uh we’ll keep keep plugging away but it’s exciting to watch his growth I know you you trust the career stats was shuder You’ mentioned that but how much Cuts did it take for him to take that last three uh and how much do you think that could do for him to make yeah shudder yeah I mean he’s I I’ve I’ve been coaching against him for a while I mean he’s a he’s a gamer he is such a competitor um his defense on Beal on that uh after we had gone up one he smothered uh Beal with help from Trace um and then he chased down that rebound um and and got fouled um those are winning plays those are big time plays so even though he’s been struggling um shooting um his ability to handle the ball allow Steph to get off the ball um his defense on the ball you know putting pressure up and up and down the floor I mean early in the game he was uh all over Trey Jones tus Jones and um you know T last time we played Phoenix tus killed us we didn’t have any pressure on him tonight um Dennis was all over tus and and um I thought that was a a big factor in the game he obviously had a lot of help behind him but what did you make of the way kaminga defended KD in the fourth took on the challenge and and made it difficult on him and um that’s all you can do I thought he was he was great on him you mentioned it’s being an important win um you guys have obviously been in a lot of close games lately that have gone the other way from a psychological standpoint does it is it important how good did it feel to actually be able to have this one go the way it did late for sure yeah we’ve lot lost a lot of these and to to uh to come through you know big shot from Dennis big free throws from JK and defensive stop like that’s you know that’s what it takes we we uh we need to re regain our confidence for sure so I think this will help seems like Trace has strung together several good games how how much of an impact did he have defensively particularly tonight and and what’s he what’s different what’s clicked for him uh you know it’s his second year so he’s um he’s figuring out the league he’s he’s understanding um angles and you know defensively um what he needs to do where he needs to be rebounding better um four block Shots tonight so the biggest thing is uh on offense you know just his threat as a dive man to the rim lob threat um it opens up the the offense too you mentioned you’re going to stick with this rotation you did basically play eight and I guess beky being hurt uh kind of limited you in the second half that’s no Kyle that’s no Looney is this is the way it might have to be with those guys well uh depends on the game but um you know we play it next week we’ve got Cleveland and Philly and you know there’s really good chance Lon will be out there um at some point you know guarding embiid or or um Jared Allen so I think um you know this is the the rotation we’d like to um to stick with the starting group and the JK playing starters minutes um but everybody on the roster has to be to be ready you know Moses missed the game tonight so you know Lindy gave us some minutes and that could be Kyle it could be Lon it just depends on on matchups thanks feel like we’ve had you know a few uh press conferences with you over the years talking about like is this the Breakthrough moment for for kaminga but you know where you at on him especially after the last two nights same place I’ve been um one of the most talented guys on this team by far and it’s good to see him uh playing the way he’s playing and we just need him to stay that aggressive uh when he’s on the court we’re going to feature him and um it’s on him to do the rest and he’s doing that and he’s more than capable and he’ll continue to get better and he’ll continue to do more how challenging I mean it seems like we you know again in the past we’ve had these conversations and then sometimes it kind of waxes and wains a little bit I mean how committed do you guys need to remain to like you know like you said featuring and we’re always committed to that um say he’s on the floor with me um even when he’s on the floor with Steph we’re all looking for him like it’s not just like it’s all it’s one of us guys who doesn’t shoot the ball as much when he’s on the court we all want to get him the ball and it’s on him to keep that mindset to come get the ball um and it’s on him no matter what happens continue to try to score the basketball we don’t you know um you know he had three assists tonight that’s cool if I’m honest we don’t need him to have much more than that uh go scor the basketball and that’s what he’s doing for us obviously Steve’s praised him but he’s also at times pointed out things that he should do differently and very pointedly recently don’t need those mid-range jumpers with 12 seconds on the clock how have you seen kaminga kind of deal with this uh do you think it’s been just the normal progress for a young player or is it a little different just because of all the talent he has where’s his mind been do you think uh he he he I I saw what he said before he’s strong uh he don’t waver stays the course he don’t complain um he just stay the course and so uh his mind is great um you go through things in this lead the path to the top for everybody is I don’t think really for anyone but I know for everyone it’s not linear um it’s dips and speaks and then you dip that’s just that’s the nature of the game we play you know you got a lot of great guys in this league um if you want to put yourself in that category James Harden who we played last night um one of the greatest G players this game has ever seen it’s been four years three years coming off the bench what he turn out to be so everyone’s path isn’t straight up Steph Curry first four years three at least weren’t the most glamorous three years and where is he today you know so we all get caught up in the here and now um judging everything as as it happens not give things a chance to play out and that’s just the world we live in um you know where everything is under constant scrutiny and it creates that but I just hope that he stay committed to his process on his path to Greatness if he stays committed to his process which I have zero doubt that he will he will be great on another guy it’s small sample size of which shooter certainly had not been shooting the ball great didn’t shoot the ball great in this game until the very end the ball Pops in his hands for that three-pointer are you feeling real good and uh what do you think that shot meant to him making it we’ve been on the wrong side of him making big plays like that for years um and so when the ball went to him when he took the shot we all knew that they had a chance you know you look at the plays he made down the stretch it wasn’t just that play it was the layup um it was the three coming up with the loose ball then getting the free throws his defense uh he was great and so we’re not going to get caught up in uh in makes and misses you know um the ball just hasn’t been going in for us lately uh we started off the season hot and we’re in a patch right now where the ball ain’t ain’t ain’t really going in our favor um but we stayed the course our defense gave us a chance and when we needed the knockdown shots in the end we did you’ve been a big Champion publicly of kaminga how would you describe the way you try to Mentor him compared to some of the other young talented players you’ve played with um I just try to be a constant voice in his ear uh feeding him confidence um so that he knows the guys that you’re on the court with has the utmost confidence in you go make mistakes who cares as long as they’re aggressive mistakes I don’t care I get mad when he pass up shots like dude I don’t I don’t care what anyone has to say you are that good go be that good you know um and so just try to stay in his ear about that um like I said making sure he has the confidence making sure he knows that we have the utmost confidence in him and just play his game be be aggressive and try to be there for him wherever I can you mentioned you guys being in a rough patch shooting the ball obviously you’ve had a few games like this late in the stretch where you’ve been in it lost it late from a confidence standpoint and it was just one game game but can this be a pretty significant one to have a game like this pull out the way it did with guys stepping up the way they did who’ve been struggling when I look at uh where the season turned it turned in San Antonio and Brooklyn those back toback games that was a turning point there’s no reason why this can’t be a turning point to turn back but you got to build on it though it just don’t happen you’re not out of the was we’re 16 and 15 so we got to put some wins together I think we’re capable of doing that um but to get one kind of get the monkey off your back is good and you obviously guarded Kevin on that uh you know middle mid post bucket or I guess Miss but I should say but you’ve obviously guarded him a ton in his career from a scoring ability obviously is one of the best ever but what what about his game from that standpoint stands out to you the most I mean there’s no bad shot for him uh you know he’s seven feet dribble the ball like point guard shoot the ball like shooting the guards dunk the ball like centers he do everything um and so just try to be physical try to make him take a tough shot uh you know I was able to he got the shot he wanted you know what he want he left hand pull up like that’s that’s was the shot he want and I knew that’s the shot he wanted so uh my mindset was just to make sure I timed it up and got a good contest I wasn’t going to stop him from getting to the spot uh without fing you know and so I just wanted to make sure I stayed close enough in and distance to get a good contest because if you’re a little behind like I said he’s seven feet so it don’t affect his shot you have to be right on him in order to get a contest to where it affect him at all um and yeah and still you can get that same contestant he still make it you know so I was happy with the the contest that I got but uh more happy with the fight that trace and Dennis had to come up with that rebound uh because we’ve gotten stops like this in the past and just having been able to come up the ball and tracing uh Dennis come you know Trace first having it and then Dennis coming up with that loose ball um that was the key the stop was great that’s cool uh that’s what I’m supposed to do uh but the way those guys came over with that loose ball was the play it wasn’t necessarily me making a miss the shot Draymond this was your guys first win when trailing going in the fourth quarter this season I think it was either Owen Tanner 11 to hold them to 18 points in the fourth what did you like the most about the final frame uh just thought our aggressiveness uh we didn’t fall into easy switches um you know they were trying to get to switches uh to get certain matchups they like and we stopped for just falling into those switches and the guys who were supposed to be guarding the KDs the Brads stepped up and took on those challenges and they’re both of those are two of the best scorers in this league uh has been for the better part 10 last 10 years for Brad and KD for the last 15 years um but K Dennis wigs they took on those challenges of guarding those guys Steph he got switched off on them took on those challenges and when with them taking on the challenges like that you know you you make guys take tough shots and you live with the results and we were able to do that we came up we got steals we got a lot of deflections and we got the rebounds and that was big jman how did the Dynamics change given Jonathan the way he’s played not only the last couple nights but the last few weeks obviously would seem that puts you at the five even more um how does that change the puzzle I guess I know you’re used to playing the five but still um we got to do what we got to do to win games whatever that looks like you know for me coming into the season I’ll be honest I didn’t want to play a ton of five it’s hard um you know uh but and it was working we were 12 and three or whatever we were and um it working when it’s not working you have to look at what works and if that’s me at the five like I said I don’t love it for entire games at this point but I I love to win so and more importantly I hate to lose so that’s what it looks like that’s what it looks like you got to win games or I told the guys we are going to get traded out of here so we better win some games is it sustainable physically play the I mean I’ve done it for a long time Ron I think um I’m cut out for it you know I’m a pretty I like to play physical um I like to think I’m a little bit tough just a little to T so yeah it’s sustainable um doesn’t feel the best but I’ll make it happen can’t uh Mike’s Mike’s caught you kind of lightning into buddy heill tonight we heard about Steph kind of you know having the the player meeting the other day how much right now is it on you to to are you just trying to light a fire under this team a little bit for sure um as a leader you have to try different methods you know sometimes go to a guy sometimes you don’t you know and you know buddy I’ve played with Buddy now for 30 Games trying to learn what makes him tip you got to try different methods you know like I said some guys you go to Jonathan kaminga I go to and I say hey this is what I need you to do look at this this way he’ll go do it if I yell at him I don’t think he gonna do it he ain’t gon to listen you going to get out of here right stephh sometimes I go to him sometimes I yell at him he reacts to both like as a leader one thing I learned from coach is all about leadership you have to lead guys you can if you think you’re going to lead a team you’re an idiot you have to lead guys that make up a team but leading someone doesn’t look the same as leading the next guy and you got to figure out what makes guys tick um what what gets the guy going and so I’m still figuring that out you know and to go at buddy the way I did we needed that in that moment you know we’re flat we just turn the ball over um lock in and that’s no shout at buddy uh Dennis was at me the other day he’s been here for two weeks and he was at me the other day great it is what it is slow-mo called me out the other day Dre we getting punked that’s on you got you no problem right um you know mics catch everything the day but I don’t care um cuz anything I’ll say I’ll say it right into the mic I don’t give a damn so um it was needed and we need buddy Hill to play great we need buddy Hill to make shots and we have all the confidence in the world that buddy will make shots but we got a Post Feed and you got a six foot guy on you get the ball it’s simple we’re we’re 16 and 15 we don’t love this so do we just keep doing the same thing and sit back on our our hands like oh it’s going to change at some point or do you make a change I know what it looks like to win I know what it takes to win so as a leader it’s on you to figure out what it takes to help this team win and if that’s mixing it up with a guy every now and then if that’s yelling then you do that but don’t be the guy that can’t be yelled at and I’ll never be that guy you know a teammate yell at me great I may say something back oh well guess what buddy says something back to me we’re we’re we’re not um dictators just what you say doesn’t go and everyone has to listen no he said something back I said something back he said something back I said something back great and we moved on and that’s how it’s got to be it’s not always going to be peaches and cream whoever thinks that are idiots lost three in a row and we have a turnover in a critical part of the game where we need to get a good shot let’s get that shot you know um I’ve happened to play a lot of championship basketball a lot of meaningful basketballs but he hasn’t had the opportunity to play a bunch of meaningful basketball in this in this league guess what it’s our job to make sure he understand what that means and if people don’t like it so be it that’s why they don’t have four championships than I do oh something broken through something happened here for you in the last week or so do you feel that way that there’s been a breakthrough or do you just feel it’s just the natural process for you feel like it’s just a natural uh process uh you know uh everybody in the organization playing a big part of it you know uh helping me throughout every situation uh including my coaches including Steve including my teammates you know just trusting me uh having that trust in me and stuff like that you know and and I feel like it’s been like that all season you know like I always say before you know you play gray they always look at that but they don’t see it when you just play normal you try to win but I feel like you know I just been trying to win that’s all how big did those free throws feel down the stretch uh I felt great uh I miss couple you know H it was I was nervous a little bit I I ain’t going to lie you know I never been in that situation where I got to go to the free throw and everybody’s quiet and I got to make those free throws you know and I’m glad and lucky I made those to so has that I I think your your percentage this season’s di from last year how has that been frustrating your free throws uh not really uh you know it’s it’s it’s all about just focusing and locking in and just making those freet thros and I feel like I was shooting well uh free thros throughout all my workout and stuff like that and then when I get to the game something changed and I didn’t know what it was but you know wigs is one of the people that helped me uh you know there was a year wig struggle shooting Fritos uh so it was just in the same situation as me but wigs is one of the people that kind of helped me and just gave me a little tip to it um and I feel like I’m getting better at it back again specific tip from him godam just uh not doing too many motions you know I feel like I had too many motion throughout my free throw and they just wanted me to shoot uh one motion and I feel like you know that kind of helped a lot how did over here how did tonight if at all feel different than last night in the sense of Steph a lot of lot of what you did tonight was with Stephan Draymond on the court with you Steve had said before the game he felt like that was the next step for you to be assertive and have this kind of big night playing with Steph and Draymond who obviously didn’t play last night uh they make all of us life easier uh it’s things I don’t need to work for myself when I have those two guys on the floor uh I just get easy buet uh so just having them you know that to make my life easier on a lot of aspect and perspective so I’m just glad they came back and you know and we got the dep taking on the challenge in guarding KD in the fourth quarter how much did it mean to you to get a couple steals get a couple stops against him sorry yes uh you know it means a lot you know um kti is one of the people that you know we always look up to you know obviously back home people watching me playing against KD you know it’s a mindblowing uh we all as a kid used to watch those type of guys you know KD and just going out there playing against him every other time I get a chance you know it means a lot you know um like I said I love ging those type of players you know one of the best players in the league and it’s a challenge you know it’s a you got to put your mental and focus on it to go out there and get a couple stuff you not obviously you’re not going to get all of them but she’s going out there against him you know and taking that challenge you know it means a lot they’ve been talking about getting you the ball on the Move we saw that clearly yesterday um does that mean doing different things for you or you just thinking cut cut cut is there action that helps you be able to get the ball on the move and is that kind of what happened on that last play where you got under the rim from Draymond and got fouled uh you know that last play was uh it was with actually anybody I could be open uh and I end up being open uh obviously you know where the ball was going you know to stti but I end up being open and dond trusted me and he threw the ball to me so I mean it’s just about going out there and just playing free uh and now overthinking uh and I think that’s that’s what Steve been telling me and the rest of the guys just St over think just go out there and play just be Draymond has been one of your strongest um Advocates since day one how would you describe him as your Mentor no it’s not that much to you know it’s a lot to say about what dond has been you know in my life you know um he has helped me a lot uh on and off the court uh and it’s been uh it’s been a v uh for me to have my career throughout my fourth year four years I’ve been here so you know and I really appreciate you know the little tips and things he tells me and help me here and there you know he just keep helping helping me to become the person I want to be you know first they’re going to stick with this lineup so you coming off the bench pretty quickly it looks like maybe but are you getting used to this do you have to prepare differently uh you might get 34 minutes like tonight but you’re still coming off the bench I mean I feel like I only start like six games out of I don’t know how many out of what 31 so know I feel like my role being coming off the bench you know I’m used to I’m used to that uh and there is going to be nights where I’ll start going to be nights where I’ll go out there and play a lot of minutes uh but you know my focus just stay in the course and anytime I get that chance to start or just coming off the bench that anytime I got there I could impact you know that’s that’s my main focus you know the more I start thinking about starting and not starring and you know I’ll I’ll lose my own mind so I’m just focusing on just anything that happen you know I want my mentor to just be right when I go out there and just play for my team and play for my team how big was that three tonight for you I mean uh it helped us uh a lot uh we took the lead um felt good for sure uh to knock down a three uh it’s been a rough couple of games um but uh I’m glad we won the game you’ve transitioned to new franchises you know plenty of times in your career has this one been more challenging at all than past ones no I mean from Boston to Houston was one and Toano to Brooklyn there was my only two um but this organization I mean they stand for championships you know and winning organization and I just you know it’s uh different if you go to the Houston roets um or you coming into this organization and you play with you know Steph Curry Draymond uh Andrew Wiggins Kinga I mean you just got to fit in uh kind of um and we’re just figuring it out right now how much of the transition has has led to kind of your colder shooting struggles and how much is it just you know maybe a little cold patch yeah it shouldn’t affect me because at the end of the day um defensively I think that’s what we got to you know um focus on um that’s what we did tonight I think defensively was really disruptive and just making sure they feel uncomfortable and we dictate the game and that’s uh what we did tonight and I think uh when that is solid every single night uh gives us a chance to win a game and even if you not shooting it will you can have a great game and I just got to focus on that you know side of the ball first and then all the shots um I’m taken in the game I take him every single day so they going to fall eventually it it’s been kind of a cold shooting stretch for the whole team as a group obviously not just for you how much can one game and sort of one positive outcome at the end kind of turn things around mentally for a group yeah I mean before I got here or when I got here I mean there was I think they lost it out of 10 games they lost eight and I mean mentally everybody uh was positive everybody in in practice um it felt like there was winning you know and um that’s what I love about this group everybody is just um being positive and um doing everything together um I mean the leaders with Draymond and Carrie uh they set in a great example um how to be a pro and how you do things on a day-to-day basis and um yeah I mean of course it’s great to win uh while we transitioning into uh how we want to play um but uh yeah we we we we we not going to change if we lose lose games we just going to stay with it and Steve mentioned your defense on tius in particular and how you’re able to disrupt what he was doing you know like you said and when you’re trying to get yourself going how much has it helped to be able to sort of throw yourself into things on defense to give you some energy and momentum in the right direction yeah I mean that’s what I did you know uh my whole career uh that’s what got me on the floor when I was with Atlanta and just uh just me and um the last couple of games I wasn’t I mean Clippers game first half but then uh James Harden did a great job of passing it and then just going into the post um but I got to you know set the set the tone on the defensive end picking up 94 ft and uh offensive end is going to come Denis I know you’ve only been here a couple weeks but what have you learned about Jonathan kaminga since you’ve been here and how much can he change the dynamic of this team if he can be productive the way he’s been the last few games yeah I mean you can’t control if the ball goes in on not um but his how professional he is on a day-to-day basis um every single day being positive having a smile in his face um it’s it’s important for us um I mean I just got here and I tried to fill everybody out but I had a couple of you know uh convos already with him um because I think when he is a screen and roller um or we hit Dre in the pocket and then he coming out out of the corner um to slash to the basket uh is really Unstoppable and um I think uh of course he can handle the ball uh he’s a great player but I think when we when we really want to be effective um for him as well uh that’s how he got to play like he did tonight you know open shots threes dunks um in the post a little bit you know like he’s just um a game changer when he plays that way cool thanks
