a spirited effort by the go to State Warriors they were down 19 in this game but they clawed all the way back with a monster third quarter out scoring OKC 33 to 22 in that frame they were up three 96 to 93 late and then they just couldn’t buy a basket and they lose their third straight game their first without Stephen Curry 105 to 101 to the Oklahoma City Thunder they’ll look to bounce back Saturday night in the Valley of the Sun against the Phoenix Suns that is as we welcome everybody the Toyota Warriors post game live the Hall of Famer Chris mullet NBA champ Fest is a I am Bon Hill live here at the gate house at Thrive City and folks are a little disappointed that one may hurt more than the Brookland game when they blew an 18-point lead to havec on a ropes like that fezy and they just couldn’t buy a basket where was the offense I mean you coming into a game uh the Warriors without Steph Curry tonight so a lot of a lot of concern about the offense the the first half it went like you thought it would right OKC is the top team in the west and they really they really controlled the first half Warriors stayed close in the second half outscored the Oklahoma City Thunder 41 51 to 43 the defense was Immaculate doing a great job forcing them into tough shots all those things were going great the offense we needed you in the fourth quarter in the last four minutes the offense just wasn’t there a lot of great shots couldn’t make layups missed a lot of open shots even the last possession Andrew Wiggins got a just wide open under the basket at the end and just looked like he wasn’t right there at the end he had a you know tough fall but the Warriors just a great fight by The Warriors tonight coming into this game they really could have taken this one yeah the effort was there I thought they had great energy defensively they really fored hard the Oklahoma City Thunder after the after the first quarter they scored 23 22 and 21 points uh but Bonte iness you mentioned the offense the warri he shoot 35% from the field 32 from the three and I thought in the third quarter when Jonathan kaminga started attacking the uh basket that kind of flipped the game a little bit they got they were down 18 they round getting the lead But ultimately they shot 53s of their 99 field goal attempts and I I thought in watching the game their advantage was attacking the paint getting up and down the floor getting to the free throw line um and you know the the Thunder went to his Zone a little bit so they kind of coerced him in the shooting a lot of Threes um but look the it was it was a great effort but it just shows you at some point you’ve got to make some shots whether they threes whether they transition points or some layups and uh you know the effort was there execution was not there some building blocks for brenon pimi and Jonathan Kingo what up them and the second but let’s look back at the third quarter when the Warriors did fight back and get into this basketball game SGA uh was struggling a bit I I thought they had him on the heels a little bit and I thought they could have really you know extended they got up by three I think I thought they could extend that lead and was all because of their activity their energy and attack in the rim I thought the third quarter was critical made adjustments in that halftime came in and really really started to attack that basket 5 for2 from the three-point line that the shooting percentage was was much better because everyone was getting into the the the three-point line and kicking it out to Shooters that’s one thing I love about JK we talked about missing JK this whole time but having JK on the lineup he brings that extra attack for the Warriors him and Andrew Wiggins together attacking both Jaylen Williams and Shay Guild Alexander that’s a lineup that you’ve been wanting to see for a long time and with him back right now I think that’s something you can see moving forward but man they sure did miss Steph at the end of the game Ponte oh my gosh one thing they cleaned up was their turnovers they had 11 at the half just for the second half and in that pivotal third quarter I believe they had just one turnover and didn’t give up any points off of that turnover so taking care of the basketball you see the crunch sign splits in the last six games workers just averaging three points in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter at overtime their field goal percentage is less than 15% look at their three percentage is under 10% so in the last six games after starting off on fire in the last 5 minutes of a basketball game they just cannot find enough offense whether Steph Curry’s on the floor or not on the floor and tonight it reared its ugly head again slow-mo hit a layup it was 545 left 96 93 this man right here to the left of you said this next possession is big can you stretch the lead to five and six they had an opportunity with the tip ends and layup with JK and then they didn’t hit a basket again until 19 seconds left fezy so I love your defense because defense got back into them but you also got to get some buckets here I mean it’s strange possessions because you saw like tippins like Point black layups that were just missed and a lot of ones that Kavon Looney usually makes those those layups are is really tough and I I thought the Warriors did a great job defensively they that’s the thing that got them back in the game but you really do need those offensive buckets especially in the clutch the Warriors there’s something going on there in the clutch that they need to fix it’s a up and down season you got to figure it out right now and M the crun time set we see a lot of jump shots there well the Warriors got back into the game but what you mentioned at halftime with FEI going to the basket and you look at the points of the paint they were a minus 16 in the first half when it came to points of the paint by the end of the game there was just a minus two yeah and I thought that was a successful part of their offense Bonte you mentioned that the way they controlled the turnovers much better than the second half they went up getting 14 more field goal attempts 99 to 85 which is a huge uh Advantage for the warriors uh winning the The Possession battle but not being able to execute um yes so to me if you know if I’m Steve Kerr I’m really happy with the effort and I’m not going to question anything about that you got to get back to a little bit more organization a little bit better spacing and I think you know towards the end of the game a little more focus on exactly where we want those shots coming from and I I’m I love motion offense I love five out but come crunch time I think it’s really important everyone gets situated uh get to spots and kind of have an understanding where you want your first option to be and then play out of that uh even that last play it looked like a broken play I me where Draymond and wigs were in a deep three-point uh in the corner there Corner wigs wind up getting open but didn’t seem um like was well well balanced pods hit the ground on that floor so now you only got three guys coming to the ball there on the end bound so tough break for the goto State Warriors on that final possession here but JK he missed the last two games due to an illness and look he got off to a rough start it’s one of the worst starts I’ve seen him have in his career with the go to State Warriors we said the last couple games when he can attack then the three-point shots can come for other guys on the team and I saw the success there I think he could get a lot more touches in the block I I thought that even to get establish the start of the game you could throw it to On the Block to get situated into the game get aggressive that way and then he can get back into the flow of the game but I thought he did a great job of really attack and finding his way in the second half yeah I would never predetermine any player what shots to take or what not to take that’s that’s you know you got to let the flow of the game dictate that but Jonathan kaminga what I would recommend is start the game attack in the rim and then get to the three-point shot when the defense is laying off you tonight I think his first three or four shots with threes he wind up taking 10 you look at the eight for 21 to me he’s probably five you know maybe take five or four all of a sudden you’re eight for 16 you’re efficiency’s there and those three-point shots you know if you took five as opposed to 10 that’s five more drives that’s how it would break down his performance he did tie a season high with three made threes in tonight’s action against Oklahoma City all right we had our Toyota poll question of the day as you as everybody out there scaning Q code who’s A Warrior’s toughest matchup over the next week was it tonight against SGA is it Kevin Durant Saturday night The Joker Denver on Tuesday I don’t think people remember who Kev I would say s is 43 for Durant and then when Denver comes up it’s 43% it should have been 33 33 33 like you said absolutely the biggest shot of the game was a made three he he was uh really relentless on taking that open three he looked maybe a little fatigued he was kind of settling for it but one of the biggest shots of the game was a step back three off his dribble I mean he’s a tough cover J Shay gilis Alexander is a tough cover he gets to the rim at will and he he really got to settling there in the in the in the fourth quarter good job by the Warriors forcing him into tough shots for tough threes ended up making a tough three at the end like you said mlly but I thought that he was he I mean nine rebounds for a guard this is one of the toughest matchups that the Warriors going to see and you got to leave this game with a lot of confidence going to the next game by by the bench players we battled JK battled get some pods got switched out onto him battled as well but great players are going to get their money there and SGA did when it was all set and done and OKC they roll here to the Bay Area they’re up 16 19 excuse me in the first half they survived here we’re going to hear from Steve Curry about this admirable effort by to go to State Warriors with the smaller lineup obviously didn’t start off well but did you think that brought kind of the energy and maybe the speed that you were looking for uh well not really in the first quarter we were awful in the first quarter um but I loved everything I saw uh in the last three quarters the energy the defense the rotations uh guys were flying around we had a lot of good individual contributions um so that was U that’s our team you know that’s that’s who we are and that’s uh exciting for me to see the defensive um Excellence that I watched those last three quarters and uh so tough loss and you know obviously three three in a row but 82 Game season we’re going to be just fine we got a really good team what did you see happening there offensively I mean obviously you’re held scoreless for a long period there U just not the ball movement or what was happening there yeah I didn’t think we made great decisions down the stretch the last five minutes um you know and it’s u a little tough obviously um you know it’s kind of pick and roll time late in the game and um you know with Steph out it it makes it a little trickier um on our team so we tried to execute a few things we got a few good looks um and I think in the in the paint um for the game we’re 19 for 46 so we had some shots um but just didn’t convert in the paint so it happens but um like I said I love the effort love the energy and U give them credit they play great defense down the stretch Tim mentioned the small lineup um you know how much of that is just matchup related or Steph not being there and how much could you possibly look at you know maybe starting kiga and going smaller Steph not being there uh definitely influences um things for us um you know pairing Draymond and Trace without Steph uh without a pick and roll player makes things really tricky offensively so that’s why I did it and um JK came and did a great job um you know after that first run where he was a little rusty but um yeah we definitely will um play that smaller lineup with JK at the four Draymond at the five um plenty coming up um but my my gut would be to keep starting the way we’ve been starting with trace and Draymond when you’re down two points with 8 seconds left could you take us through the process of not only what play you want to get to but the decision to go for two versus three to win it in regular so we practice this stuff um quite a bit Kyle’s a great inbounds passer so um we wanted Kyle in the game and uh we we ran a play that we’ve been practicing a little bit and uh uh they they guarded it really well the opening wasn’t there um but I thought Draymond made a great play um on catch um hitting wigs um you know on the back door um wigs just was a little off balance um but Draymond made a hell of a play wigs made a a really good cut um just didn’t convert what what did you make of Pat’s minutes fantastic um you know you you love to see a guy just come in and play with great force and energy and push the ball and find Shooters um he just plays the game and um I thought Pat changed the game um soon as he got out there the game finally opened up for us and uh you know we started to to move move the ball Steve do a kind of piggyback off of that with Steph out did you know that Pat was going to have this big of opportunity tonight uh we weren’t sure but we knew um that Off the Bench um we you know really lacked a point guard Kyle’s a point forward and he handled the ball for us and uh but when we were struggling in that you know that first quarter um it was an easy choice for me to go to Pat mean these are probably the biggest minutes he’s ever gotten in the NBA what does he show you on a daily basis that practice that earn the trust from you uh the guy’s a gamer he’s one of the greatest lacrosse players of all time um so he’s a competitor he’s an athlete um he has worked his tail off um to get to this point um incredible teammate um and uh he’s a he’s a damn good player I mean he just he shoots it well he passes it well and he you see the the movement and the flow when he’s when he’s on the floor so you guys get a couple of buckets in that last that five minute stretch there where you got nothing um obviously without staff you don’t have your quote unquote closer but what do you look at as in terms of your best potential options to get a bucket of some kind we were going to JK and wigs um for the most part you know trying to get them downhill uh and pick and roll and they were switching everything and um and they did a good job you know we both guys got to the rim a couple times we didn’t quite convert um but give Oklahoma City Credit I thought their their defense um was really Stout you know the last last five six minutes I interviewed you in the G league and now getting some of your biggest NBA minutes kis said that the game opened up for your team while you were out there what was it that you were seeing that allowed you guys to find some success yeah I I think we came out slow um and for me if I’m coming off the bench I got to be an energy guy for us so uh just getting downhill finding you know finding some guys that can really shoot the ball buddy obviously we want to get him some clean looks so if I can get into the paint collapse the defense um find him for a couple get him going I think just having that pace getting downhill I like to get the ball out quick and run and I think that that’s kind of our identity so we came out flat um gave obviously spotted them too many points but when I come in I got to be an energy bug for us before this game you had played in three previous games about most was three minutes what were you thinking heading into this one when the team needed you to make an impact yeah I had a feeling being active tonight with Steph out um obviously a very tough team I had a feeling if we came out slow I might get the number called so just staying ready um had three three long days of practices here with Santa Cruz had a full lift today um but they told me I was active before the game so I just got to make the most of it have any of your teammates volunteered to pay for the tech have they what uh I think a couple guys we’ll see where that goes I’m not worried about it P you’ve been cooking guys for years now uh did it did it feel like you know being out there getting the freedom to play your game did it did it feel like it always failed or did it feel like it was special yeah it’s just basketball at the end of the day right as xes and O spacing it’s all the same thing obviously it’s just a a higher caliber at this level so um but I think that helps me too you know I’m I’m not like a an an incredible score um so down in the G League sometimes you know maybe put a little bit more pressure on myself to be a guy who gets some buckets but up here just somewhat Talent around me so um I think I have the ability to get downhill make plays for other guys and like I said just the talent on the makes me that much better too it’s clear that you you know see the game very well um how satisfying was it to be able to execute in some of the spots that you’ve maybe seen up close from the bench this year it’s satisfying but want the win you know ultimately we’re we we dropped three games in a row now so um feels good to get minutes but you know we’ve got I think we have a whole team that can play so might be right back out of the rotation might be in their next game um the goal for me when I come in is to impact winning and unfortunately didn’t get that done tonight but we’ll keep moving forward um when you’re out of the rotation what what are the keys to staying ready for you yeah just putting in the prep work every day you know we have an incredible staff here I’m sure you guys are around quite a bit you know we have quite a big staff so enough guys that want to help you get better and and they want to get better as coaches so the prep work never fails um just get in the gym cool [Music] okay Draymond how did you guys get back into this game what did you guys change what did you guys do at halftime or third quarter to turn things around uh second quarter turned it around although it didn’t really showing the results of the score uh when Pat Spencer came in the game he changed the game for us uh when JK came back in the game he changed the game for us when BP came back in the game he changed the game for us and so those guys they really picked up their intensity and their force and everybody followed you know then slow-mo came in the game made an impact LOM all those guys really changed the game for us defensively uh we started to get stops then we’re able to push the tempo we not playing against a set defense the whole way and you know it really changed things for us unfortunately we couldn’t close it up what what’s how hard is what’s it like I should say when you guys go basically five minutes without a bucket and they’re having a hard time scoring too is it all about defense or is it just a missed opportunities in there oh there’s definitely some missed opportunities offensively but you know um that happens throughout the course of a game uh the one thing you can control is your defense your effort on that side so uh you know we never want to go five minutes without scoring but you keep their points to a minimum and it all works works out Steve kind of mentioned that often times late in NBA games it turns into a pick and roll game you don’t have Steph tonight that’s part of the reason you struggle down the stretch what is the key when Steph’s out there but but certainly when he’s not to you know beating good focused defenses without having a a pick and roll game uh I just got to settle down and make sure we get into something uh get into some sets I thought we were a bit scattered and that’s on me um you know we the game gets to that point somebody got to slow the game down and get us into a set and you know I am the veteran out there I am the one with the most experience out there so I got to get my head out of my ass and go get the ball and get us into a set something that uh would be beneficial for all of us you know I think so many of us everybody wanted it you know JK was getting to the hole he wanted it where he’s got into the paint a couple times he wanted the BP did as well uh but our spacing wasn’t correct and so they’re able to collapse on the paint and we don’t have the proper kickouts because our spacing wasn’t right because we weren’t getting into anything it was just guys making plays themselves and so I can do a better job there you know and I definitely have to especially when Steph’s out uh when when he’s out you know I I I have to make sure that I’m getting us into something and AV told me uh he told me the last two days that that would be the case and times you just get lost in the game uh and you know I I kind of got lost in the game a little bit but I got to be able to identify you know that we’re a little scattered and get us settle down and get us into something that’s not you know that’s not on BP or any of those guys they don’t have the experience to do that so that’s why that’s my fault Jonathan started and played biggerman it’s partly because you know you moved to Center I know it’s kind of a almost a push and pull but you know I guess what’s your updated view on how much you’re able to play center which would probably allow kaminga to fit in a bit more I’ve never been a guy that won’t do what a team needs um I pride myself and being whatever the team needs me to be uh and so I don’t you know I don’t necessarily think it was a matter of him just being at the four I thought it was a matter of him being aggressive he was at the four his first inning he wasn’t good because he wasn’t aggressive he came back in the game the second quarter and he went for broke and when you go For Broke with that level of talent that level of skill it usually works in your favor so I don’t care what position he’s at um we need him being aggressive all at all times and we’ll all fit in around that you know we’ll figure it out and I think that’s the thing he needs to understand is you know what what what we need him to be you know that pressure that he start putting on the rim we need that all night and everybody else will figure it out you know he has that level of talent that you better just go figure it out off what he do and I think you know uh he has to understand that um he’ be aggressive everybody else will do what they need to do and figure it out around him and you know he should wear that badge with with honor because that’s you know um not many people get that opportunity in this league and it’s set up for him to do that so we need him to do that and you know like I said when he checked back in after he subbed out the first time that’s what he did the rest of the game and uh that’s who he got to be for us Draymond what does what does Pat Spencer do behind the scenes on a daily basis that earns your ultimate trust for a bigger role like he had tonight he’s always just solid man um you know he never waivers he he’s very opinionated in a good way um you know he will share the things that he sees extremely smart on and off the court um he’s just always steady you know he gets his work in doesn’t bother anyone uh but is not afraid to say something I respect guys that like he’ll go up to Steph like hey Steph man this is going on and you should do this and I respect that you know he’ll come to me like yo and I say something back he like no but this and you’re like ah and it’s and like I said it’s never in like a I mean hey your teammates you should be able to talk to your teammates anyway but it’s never in like I know more than you are you know it’s here’s my opinion here’s what I think okay you saw this here’s what I and like when guys are like that you respect you know you respect it um and so that’s what passed been for this team and it’s good to see him get an opportunity tonight and take advantage of it R how you feeling about this kind of group of games obviously three straight losses some of them different than others after the fast start uh do you feel like something’s been lost do you feel like something is needs to be a little bit altered where are you with the team right now uh yeah I think um anytime you’re losing you need to figure something out I don’t think it’s a matter of something’s been loss uh you know we know what our identity is as a team and you have to stay close to that as possible throughout the course of an 82 Game season it’s kind of impossible to stay keep that identity to whole way but like I said you want to stay as close to that as you can but you know uh that’s why you want to get off to a fast hour because you’re going to hit rough bches throughout the course of an 82 Game season and if you build a cushion it allows you to withstand that so our fast start was great for us and now you know we’ve lost three in a row nobody’s panicking uh enjoy Thanksgiving tomorrow come back Friday get a good practice and go try to get a win in Phoenix um Andrew played oh excuse me oh go ahead okay thank you Andrew played 35 minutes in this game he also scored the first nine points then he had the assist on he’s just coming in locked in and I don’t know that we’ve had the opportunity to ask you lately what you think about maybe his last five games or even his season at large I think his season’s been great you know uh I obviously went through an event that uh none of us ever want to go through in life but unfortunately that most of us do go through at some point or another um and I think you know he’s had to deal with that and I don’t want to speak for him uh because it’s a very sensitive thing but it’s something that he’s had to deal with for the last two three years and um it also gives you something to play for you know I the reality is you know you want to come in every year locked in and focus of your career but it’s it just don’t always happen that way you know sometimes you need to find different motivations and I think you know what he’s gone through is giving him something more to play for and U he’s showing that he’s locked in and then also none of us know the toll that that took on him over the last couple years you know um you kind of we all live in this basketball world where you think that’s just it but the stuff that happen in life you carry you know and sometimes it can carry over into what we do it’s a very emotional game we play so um you know I think yeah like I said none of us just know the toll that that was taken on him but you know the the season that he’s having you know it’s good to see him locked in and focused and enjoying what he loves to do hi Draymond hello on a lighter note Thanksgiving is tomorrow can you share what you’re thankful for and what is the uh dish you look Mo most forward to the you in I’m thankful for life I’m thankful for my life uh my family um you know my job uh what I get to do for a living something that I dreamed of as a kid um so I just try to indulge and enjoy those things uh what I’m looking forward to most is a huge plate um probably some dressing my wife makes a really good dressing so looking forward to that um but most importantly just being home with my family watching some football um L is are play do a little quick wash Draymond Green talking about football with Jordan schuls and just chill and enjoy my day you get you get to start clearly things weren’t exactly working out for you early what was happening there and what changed when you went back in uh I haven’t played for like two days so you know I was just rushing into things you know I mean it felt good but you know it don’t matter how it felt but I was just off you know starting the game and just rushing into things and having played for like two days but that shouldn’t be the excuse so could you describe like the illness that kept you out the past couple games we like the uh the sickness the illness that you had that made you miss the last couple games what about it could you describe it like what were the symptoms stomach I wasn’t feeling great um I couldn’t force it you know I wasn’t feeling great so that was problema and Draymond here was was just talking about how important it is for you to be aggressive um to get to the rim and no matter what the lineup combinations are um were you how did you feel you were able to do that tonight maybe after your first s uh I feel like I just settle down you know uh and just knowing angers to attack too you know uh put a lot of pressure at the rim and that’s that kind of help pass you know if if I don’t and I put PR at The Rim you know that helped me to kick it out and res the guys get uh easy shed so I think that’s just my main focus and you know I always work on finding a way to get there you know I work on my ball handling so I can’t be losing the ball and I help him to kind of move my Defender and just get to the rim every time and feel like I said that’s been my goal you know and I’m good at doing that so in the last five and plus minutes of the game you guys both teams were having a hard time finding a bucket and I’m just wondering from you guys what was the hardest part about just getting what you wanted during those final those final five minutes because nobody was scoring um I think it was just for us to just settle down uh mainly as just settle down the game was going too fast you know we were running up and down and uh and just rushing you know the game was very close you know and that was the main thing is just us player coming together and just settle down and just run out plays that can give us easy Becket and I think we didn’t do that very well but defensively I feel like we’re playing good defense but we just rushing on offense uh to follow on on the defense what flipped for you guys defensively the the last three quarters uh just the energy the the second unit bro you know pass sper you know that second unit they just came out there and just they gave us all they had and you know that’s just a good thing coming from everyone else you know the more the energy coming around and that’s how everybody feed off of it and that’s how we just picked up and we started playing a good uh defense you had a few stops individually on Shay on SGA what is your approach to guarding a player like him I mean I’ve been guarding for four years you know I’m not going to stop the ball every time but know I love I love playing against SGA you know it just helped me to go out there and just uh learn learn my defense and get better so you know it’s always a pleasure to play against someone that could be an MVP and our league so you know it’s always a pleasure for me to go out there and guard him it’s a good challenge this was your first start in a while and I think we all can pretty much assume you would like to start regularly what’s the conversation been generally about when you might start or that you’re you know mostly not going to start has that conversation been had with with Steve Kerr no I mean uh we’ve been doing good you know um when it took me out to starring uh five you know I didn’t complain you know coming in today and telling me that I’m a be in a staring five you know uh I was happy B you know that don’t that haven’t affect me at all you know cuz I still go out there and just play and be free so uh it’s not something that really affected me or anything like that you said your role is this you know the scorer Off the Bench when you’re in you can be the guy they look to do you feel good with that is that something a role that you think can carry you through this season I mean I feel like I have been doing I have been consistent uh just going out there and be uh the guy want me to be uh being a scorer being a playmaker uh being a Defender uh and try to rebound more and just being consistent on defense so and I feel like it’s been a great role and you know I’m happy with it um I haven’t complained or anything like that it don’t matter how the game is going you know that’s what they want me to do and I feel I feel very comfortable about doing it so it don’t really matter all right let’s check out the splits with them without Stephen Curry they just suffered their first loss without Stephen Curry which is very impressive three and one honestly season hopefully he is back Saturday after missing tonight’s action with bilateral knee sord is there 9 and five yo look at that defense without Steph it’s not bad not bad at all 105 that’s that’s incredible three per percentage is actually better without Steph car okay okay relax all I’m just reading the stats this is where numbers lie next thing you going to say they’re bed without Steph Curry no who I would never say that that’s where you guys are going no we’re not going anywhere near there no C no no I said this number look at that number number I want to look at number 30 I don’t want to look at those numbers in the world agree with you but I’m saying that without Steph you don’t have offense so you got to be able to play defense more you got to hold them to less numbers because you don’t have the offense of Steph Curry that’s what I pointed out all the other most Leal three-point shooter in NBA history The Warriors shoot better from the three go that’s what the number said I was read the number numbers Li trust me I know that tonight to your point 23 22 21 one in the second third and fourth qu so the effort and the defense was there yeah but at some point you’ve got to convert look no one’s going to question their effort their defensive intensity all that uh but without Steph you know those those shots are not opened up because of his gravity on a consistent basis shots from you got to walk away with this game with a lot of confidence yes you do not walk away with a win there’s a lot of Mis shot so many opportunities you can watch film tomorrow and see at least 10 opportunities in the last 4 minutes you could convert make any one of those shots and then you walk away with a win Andrew Wiggins could have tied it at the end of the game even with shooting so poorly so you can really walk away saying the defense was really solid tonight the execution wasn’t there and we could still we could have still walked away with a win against the best team in the West
