the 2024 25 season we’ll dive into all of that today plus a little bit of bad news for Golden State on the back end to Today’s Show on the injury front but first if you guys think Golden State needs the world sham shiria went on ESPN a little bit late last week kind of a little bit late to the party on this but we’re going to dive into all of it as we’ve learned a little bit more sham said golden state is on the real hunt for a Star to par next to Stephan Curry and Draymond greenan like Andrew Wiggins unless they would have to include his contract in any potential massive deal here’s the full quote from Shams of what he had to say on ESPN said I’m told that the Golden State Warriors are on the real hunt for a star a playmaker a scorer next to Stephen Curry and you think back to the summer when they pursued Lori Markin in with the Utah Jazz they made a pitch for Paul George as a free agent with the Clippers and the debate with the Warriors and teams that look into the situation is for them are they going to find that extremely outside of its roster currently or externally excuse me outside of its roster currently or will will it be inhouse with a player like Jonathan kaminga last night against uh he scored 33 points for the first time I think this was against the Rockets he played 30 minutes in a game all season long he shown with his output that as his role elevates so does his stats and different points in that relationship between Jonathan kaminga and Steve Kerr now let’s be honest who was fooled by Golden State being happy with the situation they were going into when the season started when you didn’t really replace Klay Thompson with a superstar level player who who was happy about that and and and who was fooled by Golden State’s kind of facade that they had thrown out there to the fans that yeah we think we could really compete with the roster we have now no this was always going to happen golden state was always going to have to pursue a trade at some point in the season or else they wouldn’t have pursued Lor Markin in they wouldn’t have pursued Paul George over the summer and and that that wouldn’t have been dragged out longer than anybody would would have wanted it to be this was always going to happen and you know for Golden State team that has Steph Curry and Draymond Green at this point in their careers I’ve been championing this the whole time like I was never fooled by Golden State thinking they could win a championship or build a championship Contender around Brandon pky and Jonathan kaminga and speaking of Jonathan kaminga there might be a reason that that the Golden State might be retreading the waters back on going on acquiring a big time Superstar they just inserted jonath the kaminga into the starting five remember he was in the starting five to start the season then he decided to a Steve C decided to move him to the bench uh in a role where you know he thought you know when we put Jon the kaminga on the floor this is this is what Steve K said we put Jon the kaminga out on the floor he does not work best in lineups with Trace Jackson Davis and Draymond Green there’s not enough spacing so what does he do he decides to make a little bit more of a small ball lineup start running Draymond Green to five so he can put Jonathan kaminga back into the starting lineup but why that that’s the big question here why did he do that well as a starter J the kinga’s numbers they’ve been eerily similar to the ones that they he’s put up off the bench and to be fair small sample size on both ends right only eight games as a starter 13 Off the Bench you’re not going to be able to you know calcul a full 882 game sample size off of just this alone but these numbers are basically identical right I mean he’s shooting better from the floor when he’s coming off the bench shooting better from three-point range the stocks are the same Steals and blocks are the same and like what’s the output like I I I just don’t understand something is fishy here when it comes to what Golden State wants to do with jonath the kaminga according to Steve Kerr these are his words from his mouth we’re trying to maximize Jonathan kaminga really you’re trying to maximize Jonathan kaminga and and and when Steve Kerr mentions is it going to be a something where they look at internally and see if jonath the kaminga could be that next star this is all Bs there is obvious subtext here when it comes to what the Golden State Warriors jonath the kaminga want to do they want to up his trade value they want to make him more appealing to teams to go out there and you know mortgage one of their stars like a Jimmy Butler or a Brandon Ingram they’re they’re trying to make people want Jonathan kaminga more than the go Golden State Warriors want him because he just doesn’t seem to be contributing to the winning brand of basketball and the brand of BAS that Steve CER wants to play moving off of screens being able to catch and shoot on the three-point line playing up on the perimeter J the kiga is not you know that kind of guy he just doesn’t fit in that kind of system he’s great in what he does he can get downhill he can get from that dunker spot create highlight plays but can he be a guy you can depend on to go get you a bucket night in and night out when Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are aren’t on the floor look back at that Rockets game he did that but when they are on the floor when golden state has their best roster and they’re fully healthy I’m not so sure and this is a double-edged sword at the end of the day right because focusing on the kaminga now could pay dividends for Golden State it could produce a bunch and they understand that you know he might be a good player but he just doesn’t fit next to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green and he end up getting a good haul for him but this system that Jon that that of trying to like flip-flop these starting lineups and Steve KT doesn’t know who to throw out there on the court at any given game this season it could backfire because it just might result in more losses focusing on jonath the kaming making him a focal point more so in your offense next to Steve Curr and Draymond Green where he does not fit that could end up blowing up in your face and Golden State can start stacking losses when they need to be stacking wins early on in this season and I and I’ll conclude with this this is what Shams had to say at the end of his long quote on ESPN it says it’s something Warriors officials have been monitoring over the last year or so the relationship between Jonathan kaminga and Steve Kerr and how he fits when Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are back in the lineup it will be interesting to monitor the whole trade situation he’s talking about but the Warriors future will be shaped over the next few weeks and next couple of months before the trade deadline this is going to be fun guys CU names are going to start popping up we don’t even know who’s going to start popping up obviously we can assume a guy like Brandon Ingram is going to be in conversations he’s on an expiring contract he’s going to have to get paid this summer cam Johnson’s a guy I’ve been championing on this channel as well but expect these trade rumors to get a little bit hotter after December 15th when the recently signed free agents are eligible for trade like a guy like Jonas valunas even a guy I think like Moses Moody I think he’s eligible to be traded after then I don’t think he will be due to the poison pill in his contract but just as far as DeAnthony Melton as well like he his 12.98 million is going to be aable for trade after December 15th so expect rumors to heat up and we’re start hearing some more names we’re circulating we want there to be good things but you know Golden State just keeps hitting hit with a little bit of an injury bug here so a double dose of bad news on the injury front for Golden State look think back to Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves well who wasn’t there Andrew Wiggins unfortunately he’s dealing with a little bit of a right ankle injury impingement according to our guy Anthony Slater here shout out to my guy Slater the number one Warriors Insider give him a follow on Twitter but he said Warriors without their primary Defender against Anthony Edwards so that actually made Steve Kerr you know kind of pivot into a good lineup combination where they stuck Gary pton the second on him and he did a really good job defensively but let’s be honest Andrew Wiggins we’re going to need Andrew Wiggins to be any semblance of a contender in the Western Conference keep the the spot or improve upon the spot that golden state is in the Western Conference standings he is imperative to this team success I mean this guy’s playing the level of basketball that he was playing when he was an Allstar starter two three seasons ago when the Golden State Warriors won a championship I mean I had to double check this right I had to double check whether or not I had the right stats on each side here of this graphic because they’re literally the same exact numbers I mean look at he’s actually just improved as a three-point shooter overall the only thing Andrew Wiggins has done since he was an All-Star three seasons ago has improved from three-point range he’s I mean yeah he’s taking a little bit less but the volume is very similar he’s averaging the same amount of points same amount of rebounds same amount of steals and blocks and is actually identical in those categories as well uh better for same from the field not no difference really there and he’s shooting better from three-point range th this is awesome to see from from Andrew Wiggins and I don’t expect Golden State to include him in any trade talks right now because he’s playing like the player that he was when he was the third best player on a championship roster so it it we need Andrew Wiggins to come back hopefully this ankle doesn’t linger for any longer than it has to and they can get him back in the lineup because this Golden State team works best when it’s fully healthy and they can deploy all their arsenal of weapons depending on the matchup night in and night out and then this second piece of bad news on the injury front Moses Moody he was unavailable he actually left the the game against the Timberwolves who was unavailable for the second half left with the same knee issue that forced him out of the previous game Moses Moody has actually been one of the only Golden State Warriors that has appeared in every single game this season but it’s unfortunate that his knee seems to be bothering him here now what I’ll say about Moses Moody and I know this we’re saying this is bad news any injury is going to be bad news but Moses Moody hasn’t given himself much good news this season he’s been playing less minutes per game than he did last year when he had a big time tiff with Steve Kerr and he Warriors coaching staff about his role with this organization he he he was not happy and what happens now they go out and sign a couple of guys that would be above him on the depth chart at the guard position they signed Anthony Mountain they sign buddy heel they bring in Lindy Waters who’s had success so far this year Gary pton the second’s back from injury and he’s playing a bunch of minutes because he’s on an expiring $9 million contract they extend to Moses Moody and he’s playing less minute and as a result I think his confidence has gone down as well points per game rebounds per game field goal percentage all down for Moses Moody and guess what the turnovers are up in less minutes per game I wish we were in a better spot with Moses Moody I know a ton of you guys in the comments love Moody and what he brings to this team he he’s a good combo guard he can handle the ball he he can shoot League average percent from three and he’s a good on ball Defender but man he just hasn’t been able to find a carved out rle in this Warriors rotation so far this season and it’s unfortunate that he now has to miss time which could push him further down Steve Kerr’s pecking order so with that being said what do you guys think confidence level in Moses Moody scale for me 1 through 10 down in the comment section one being you’re not confident at all and he’s going to be buried to the bottom of this lineup forever 10 being that he needs to get the most minutes of anybody coming off Golden State’s bench let me know what you guys think down in the comments section and to wrap up today’s show I just want to talk about the game last night a little bit Steph Draymond they played awesome Steph had a game high 30 uh hit a big time three-pointer near the end of the third quarter in two in true Steph fashion 15 in the second quarter I believe he had nine in the third quarter um so during the middle of that game he really carried Golden State they didn’t actually didn’t have a lot of other great scoring options I know typical uh during that stretch but Steph kept them afloat Draymond had a big dunk and he did the night night celebration sending the Timberwolves home in Min uh in Golden State so overall they they were very good y i i I mentioned it before you had Gary pyton the second matched up on Anthony Edwards when you’re missing your primary defender in Andrew Wiggins so you know good good on Steve Kerr there and the analytics team for putting out that small ball starting lineup last night of Curry healed gp2 jonath the Kinga and Draymond Green that group is a plus 11 out there on the floor together so good allaround performance buddy heeld gets out of out of his slump hits seven threes 27 points hopefully we can see a little bit more consistency with buddy heeld but I’m not holding my breath on that because we know how that goes and his previous stops have suggested that this is going to be an up and down kind of thing for Buddy Hill but glad that he’s back on his horse glad that he’s hitting shots from outside again because Golden State’s going to need that also caval Looney over this last 10 game stretch I think it’s been by far the best big on this Golden State team had 12 points nine boards in 21 minutes last night as well shout out to the lon dog he’s trying to still keep his NBA career thriving and get paid after the season as he’s also on an expiring deal so shout out to him and shout out to the Warriors for getting another dub man because uh it’s been a rough stretch over the past two weeks or so
