welcome back to another episode of rock boys football deal uh kind of one of those sneaky rivalries where you go on Twitter and I follow some Oregon and Washington fans like legitimate kind of some bad blood between these two programs Washington heading on the road to play Oregon both teams coming off buys which for me I love like you’re gonna see and when you’re Dan Landing in Oregon like you are going to get everybody’s best shot and I think you’re going to get Washington’s best shot and I think a fascinating storyline heading into this one who gets to start at quarterback you know deont Williams comes in and gives Washington a lot of life with the Dual threat ability at the quarterback spot now this is a big moment to start a true freshman quarterback but I do think because of his athleticism in the overall ceiling he gives Washington on offense I think he would be my pick to start this game I think he’s going to be the quarterback of the future why not let the kid get his feet wet in one of the best environments in all of college football fired up to get into this one now before we doing as always Washington fans Oregon fans let it fly in the comment section appreciate you guys rocking with it if yall do enjoy the content consider subscribing to the channel D without further Ado I want to start with this you look at this Washington defense and I gotta give Coach balich a ton of credit like you look on paper and say it’s a solid defense but this has largely been one of the better defenses we’ve seen in the Big 10 only allowing 22 points per game that’s top 30 in the country 4.8 yards per play that’s 22nd in the country I think this Washington defense right now is punching above their weight and as they continue to get those kind of bodies into this program which jetfish is working on doing I only think it’s going in the right direction now here’s the question mark for me one it sounds like TZ Johnson could be back for this football game but regardless of that does Oregon lean on this offensive line and decide to run the football right we saw Oregon kind of struggle on the road specifically throwing the football early against Wisconsin when they went to that ground and pound hey we’re going to lean on our big good offensive line in Jordan James kind of opened up that game for Oregon you look at Washington say d this secondary it’s elite very very good with a pretty sneaky solid pass rush as well but stopping the Run not so much does Oregon decide to lean on the Run game at home here that’s kind of one of my question marks how do you look at this match up playing out I mean I kind of feel like I would because you look like Washington when they brought that trans portal class together and brought some of those outside guys like you can get a handful of good secondary guys and if you can coach them well I think you can rebuild the secondary pretty quickly yeah it’s so hard though to put together a really good deep defensive line and you see like again they have like little or athletic guys who make some plays in the back field but like they’re just like when you go right at them I do feel like especially with the way they’ve been playing and having success with more of that inside power scheme they’ve been running where Jordan James feels more comfortable their offens line feels more comfortable I feel like that’s what I would do just it’s physics baby like you look at Oregon they got some big dogs on the offensive line you want to get Jordan James moving that body downhill that’s kind of how I see this game playing out as well now it’s not saying you don’t lean on Dylan Gabriel in this passing attack which is very very good that’s kind of like the the tough part about organ is they can attack in a lot of different ways you look at this match up and say at home last of the Season can we come out and control how this game is being played and go run the football in Washington that’s probably how you want to attack andil if you’re looking at one thing I just want to see Oregon clean up just continue to stay on schedule this team is at its best when it’s staying out of those third and long situations when they have that full Playbook open when you look at Oregon having those type of offensive performances where you just can’t get them off the field it’s normally when they’re just staying on schedule and then supplementing that with some explosive plays the return of TZ Johnson allowing Evan Stewart to be a little bit more of that vertical threat and have TZ Johnson work underneath that’s going to be a really big storyline as well at the end of the day I think Oregon’s gonna have some success running the football is it going to be enough success to pull away from this football game that’s kind of the storyline here honestly you probably hear an Oregon fan want to see a cleaner game in general especially from that passing attack because again it’s yeah you maybe want to lean on the run but you still look Oregon’s still no doubt going to be very balanced I think you want to see them be able to just be more efficient in the passing attack because the last couple weeks without TZ Johnson you’ve seen an unnoticeable drop off in terms of how that offense like again that machine like nature that they were really running with kind of in the middle of the Season it hasn’t really looked the same so I certainly think as Oregon kind of Gears up for their push into the playoffs you want to see them play clean ball and look that’s the storyline Oregon fans probably sick and tired of hearing me saying this but I’m gonna say it one more time it’s about playing your best football at the end of the year you know what I mean and so if you’re Oregon what do you want to see from this team you want to see clean football this is the number one team in the country there’s no question about it how can we make sure this is the number one team in the country in the month of December in early January that’s kind of what you’re building towards now D flipping the sides I think this is a fascinating storyline I’ll I’ll continue to Bang the Drum Washington one of those offenses that you look at the numbers 21 and a half points per game scor it’s 106 in the country but they’re top 45 top 50 now I think in yards per play like this a Washington team that can move the football just struggles to score in the Red Zone deont Williams potentially getting the start I haven’t seen what jetfish has said and I think jetfish is probably purposely going to keep that one under wraps because you’re basically preparing for two different quarterbacks right Will Rogers much more of a pocket passer getting the football out quick Dean Williams it’s an 11 second 100 meter guy now he has the arm to push the ball down the field there’s no question about that but his legs bring another Wrinkle in terms of what you have to be responsible for though the way I look at it it’s two things one as like a high school recruiting nerd I I want to see the young cat get some burn in this environment I think more importantly I think demon Williams gives you that ability to kind of reach your ceiling on offense I don’t know if Washington has maybe enough Firepower to win with Will Rogers but deont Williams kind of gives you another element that makes it extremely hard to defend especially as this Oregon pass rush has been becoming real dominant lately do you want a quarterback that can get himself out of trouble a little bit more I want to see deand Williams and I want to see how he can run this offense against an Oregon defense that is slowly starting to play like one of the best units in all the football when Washington’s at their best they’re creating a lot of space I felt like they did a really good job against a good Michigan defense doing that getting their guys out getting the ball out and forcing Michigan to tackle really effectively which Michigan frankly wasn’t able to do against this team so again you look at how you can maximize that style like I just don’t really see them being able to push the ball down the field really consistently against these boundary Corners they’re playing so well for for Oregon but again like you look Deon Williams and then if you can get Jonah Coleman in good matchups that’s where Washington can eat because Jonah Coleman is unbelievably good I wish they’d lean on him more like Jonah Coleman is running the rock like one of the best running backs in the country um and maybe I’m not really sure they can just go smash on Oregon but like they can but but if you if you have Deon Williams I think it gives you that better opportunity like when you’re running that read option and these backside linebackers and Edge rushers have to be responsible for deont Williams who can really hurt you with his legs it’s going to give Jo a little bit more space and let him get downhill a little bit more again I’m not saying Washington is going to smash on Oregon but I think it makes your rushing attack a h of a lot harder to deal with and what’s the best way to slow down some Edge rushers that are really emerging for Oregon and Tatum and Mato potentially Jordan Burch coming back it’s having a quarterback that can hurt you keeping the football um and you said it best if you’re Oregon at least in my mind and I I’ll admit Taj Lop Dan Landing probably smarter than me in terms of scheming up the defense probably um you look at how you stop Washington you don’t want to give him a ton of space you squeeze down on him in my opinion right I don’t think Washington has shown you a ton of ability to stretch it vertically kind of like you were saying so if I’m Oregon like I’m walking my safety hey tasim Johnson likes to be around the line of scrimmage anyways take away that short intermediate Concepts take away the middle of the field D Washington to go work the boundaries on Nico Reed and a guy like Jabar muhammd you look at Washington over 1600 yards after the catch in the 2024 season this offense is a Good As It Gets In terms of getting their Playmakers in space try to take away that space dare them to do stuff they’re uncomfortable with and if they can beat you doing that then it’s going to be a really fun game in auson stadium Saturday night they’ll I’ll I’ll give you the the T boox here with the pick Oregon coming in 19 and a half Point favor to you got here give me the Huskies rivalry games I don’t love these big spreads betting on the favorite I think Washington has been really good I think the by week’s huge for Washington I think it’s big for Oregon too but probably bigger for Washington again when you’re a team like Washington who probably hasn’t totally refilled the depth coming off having a weak of rest and then I really do think they can I’d be fascinated to see what a whole game Deon Williams looks like because at the end of the day Will Rogers has not played good football the past two weeks been turning the ball over I he’s looked as clean I really wouldn’t mind seeing them let it rip with Deon Williams because again he does give you a better chance of of kind of making some plays at the end yeah 100% I think Dean Williams gives you a better chance to win the game now may you get a little bit more inconsistent play from the true freshman over the red shirt senior yeah absolutely look you’re not beating you’re not beating Oregon with Will Rogers I and if you’re Washington give yourself I think put yourself a chance put yourself in a a position to win this football game and I think that’s the quarterback that can do that deont Williams and I’m also just selfish and I want to see de Williams play football I’m gonna take Oregon you said the buy a week helps Washington more I think the buy a week helps Oregon more I mean Oregon was missing a lot of cats the last couple of weeks they were itching for a by they played what five straight or eight straight conference games they needed a bye more than anybody you get TZ Johnson back healthy potentially Jordan Burch harcus Harper we’ll see who’s healthy that team was clearly banged up bad going on the road against Wisconsin I think oron can run it three deep because they’ve been able to recruit and get their and look I I I see where you’re coming from but it’s more than just that it’s more than just getting some of your best players back it’s more of hey Dan Lanning probably not happy with the performance on the road to Madison Wisconsin likely yeah I think you’re going to get a a a uh ready to rock and roll Oregon team Saturday night in a Stadium I’ll take get a little time to scheme some things up I don’t mind that I I uh I agree with you go this Washington’s coaching staff I think is really good I think Jed fish crushed it I think both of these both of these coaching staffs are really good but with Jed fish and I think this coaching staff have done with the amount of
