that players that signed in the offseason can’t get traded so we’re close we we got a text this week that was like why is this too early for trade rumors and I was like we’re almost to the December 15 so we’re we’re almost there’re almost there I know come on I’m itch I’m itching for them even though I don’t think the Mavericks need anything like drastic I’m still like anybody some random person on a random blog can drop a trade rumor thing that’s totally made up and I’m like I think I might click on it just to like see you like the slop you got you need the slop the trade slop I was thinking about people the other day I was like I wonder what’s going on with Ari Abraham like where is that guy yeah is he still making up crap Scout with Brian where is that dude weing quarter Zips just hanging out somewhere today’s episode we are going to get into some trade rumors and trade rumors across the NBA we’ll talk about some players Isaac and I will play what about this guy where we just go back and forth and talk about different players that are either on the trading block or could be on the trading block and could the Mavs even think about these guys but let’s start here with Jimmy Butler oh jimothy gotten into it again the rumors all week according to Sham Jania has been that that this the that Jimmy Butler’s agent Bernie Lee has indicated in League circles that the six time Allstars open to uh the Phoenix Suns as a destination that was the new thing today that he’s in the Suns we’ve already talked about that he’s interested in the Mavericks and the rockets and the Golden State Warriors as players that he could be or teams that he could be potentially interested in and so the rumor was is going around going around that tweet from Shams got community noted today on Twitter which is a a community note is when Twitter itself comes and like corrects it and says hey this is this is you know this is misinformation this has been corrected by somebody else and specifically mentions Bernie Lee the agent because he went on a tweet storm about this Jimmy Butler story he said these three things you ready for this Isaac I’m so ready let’s go Bernie if anything if anything take away from this Mavs fans we can laugh at the Miami Heat for this Shams this is your opportunity to say my bad I let chat gbt write my tweets and went old school Peter vessie Shams Peter was a writer in the in the 90s be a trend Setter invite the new I was hacked invent the new I was hacked carry on all thank you then then he said this is again Jimmy Butler’s agent been confirmed this is him I don’t know what I’m going to do because I’m a middle-aged dad but I just know it would it indicates several uh a severe dislike world all this fabric all this is fabricated I have never and honestly I have never and honestly it wouldn’t help me or the position I represent to do anything that’s been reported by said quote journalist unquote he’s really getting off he’s really getting off his feel because some of this doesn’t make any sense grammatically either all right listen I gave you a pass yesterday because I was busy but if you don’t stop putting my name on your complete and utter madeup BS spelled out the word because you know you normally aren’t worth my time to acknowledge Bernard’s over here at the zoo with his family he’s like I don’t have time for this Bernard um is there more I can’t remember no those are the three ones the the the more on it though is that Mickey Arison Arison the the owner of the heat retweeted it oh that’s incredible is like I’m going to Blue Sky um I so it’s so funny to me one I just love when agents are on social media it’s my favorite at least this is a tweet and not a DM uh given defensive rebounding stats to reporters um but yeah I mean any anytime that an agent like disputes something like this but it’s like Shams is probably like well I’m getting it from somewhere and I even seen uh you know someone I think Flex from uh Phoenix that I follow for a while Flex Flex from Jersey who reports on Phoenix so make sense of that I think he even like walked away from like covering the sons but even he tweeted out was like hey I got different sources uh that you know Phoenix interested I I just like what what contending team isn’t interested in Jimmy Butler right now or like or he and the other way around sorry sorry I’ll tell you one what what contending team is Jimmy Butler not like open to going to right now I guess that’s what I was trying to say not the not the other way around so I just think it’s kind of funny I mean it wouldn’t shock me if there was another you know someone like that you know another team at the top of the East that like jimmy’d be open to Cleveland you know uh it it just wouldn’t shock me so then we get the Stein Mark Stein report today shout out to our our guy Stein the Mavericks by Contra are not in are in no position to make a play for Butler even if they wanted to Dallas has two max players already and both Luca Kyrie Irving great clarification there are eligible for new contracts into July after The Season’s trip to the NBA after last season’s trip to the NBA finals adding another playmaker for all of Butler’s versatility and toughness likewise doesn’t rank as a Dallas priority it makes sense to me that the Mavs it’s the finances are so hard we’ve talked about all offseason how difficult it is now with the new CBA the collective baring agreement the deal that makes all the contracts work it’s so hard to get three max contracts look at what the Suns had to do last year the Suns got they brought in Bradley Beal then they had three max contracts and I think even I think even Booker was not like a a $40 million Max at the time for them to like try and fit this in and then they had to go bar Bargain Basement hunting for the their other guys and they got all these random vet minimum guys and almost none of them worked out so then they moved on from all of them then they got super lucky with tus Jones wanting to come and play there which is great and maybe that’s the benefit of just going all in and getting three guys like this is that you’ll get some of those guys that say I want to come and join it and win a ring but now the suns are 12 and 11 and they’re they’re still not lighting the league on fire right with with with their team and so it’s very difficult to keep the team we’ve talked about you’d have to trade like Maxi Gafford Grimes naagi like you so many contract clay would probably have to be in there so many contracts just to even match Jimmy Butler’s number that it doesn’t make any sense for the Mavericks yeah I mean that’s been the yeah when we first talked about this I guess it was last week it was like Hey I would love the personality fit with Jimmy with the chemistry and sevenn Dallas would love the play um like the player fit on the basketball court I think would be great with Kyrie and and Luca but what it would take to go get him you just don’t you don’t have that other contract on your on your team that you can like match and go get you know like Phoenix has you know Bradley Beal that they would have to like hey will you go to Phoenix because he has you or will you go to because he has a you know no trade clause Dallas just doesn’t have that contract and I just don’t I don’t think it’s worth it to like give up all of your depth to go get I think Jimmy’s still good I think he will help a team whoever he gets traded to but I just don’t think it’s it’s worth it to do that for so I I just don’t even think it’s a conversation I think it’s Jimmy’s side just putting it out there like people are not even like doing the really math on it a ton Dallas potential option for Jimmy it’s like no not really I mean unless they want to gut literally their whole team and so here’s now the reason why the Mavs are getting brought up in this and I think it’s a positive thing for the Mavericks if you’re a Mavs fan listening you know that the Mavs have been brought up in these these rumors all the time in the past and it was because they were a team with Mark cubin at the helm that would take risks and go out there and get guys and they would save their cap space and and you know plan powder and and keep their cap space dry for the offseason and then have all this money to make moves and so teams would use the Mavericks as leverage all right if you don’t give me what what I want then the Mavericks will cuz Mark cubin will do it he’ll give me what I want because they have it they they have it in the bank but the Mavericks were like the desperate team trying to trying to get Talent around Dirk or trying to move on from the Durk era or trying to get Talent around Luca or whatever so they were the desperate team now they’re a contending team and so now they’re on the opposite end where it’s like hey there’s there I want to go and be in a winning environment it’s more of a winning environment than Miami is right now and that’s D why Dallas is in these trade rumors which I think is a great thing for the maps I mean what color is Jimmy’s hair right now it’s been all kinds of colors he had like yellow for warriors he had red for rockets at one point and he had blue for the map Blue yeah obviously obviously Jimmy’s uh from Texas and Tom Hall and you know all that stuff and it’s like you get the Texas connection um yeah I’m fascin I I think it’s more of a Houston Golden State race in this than it is a Dallas or a phoenix thing um the Houston one all right Jimmy Butler in the trade right no no no no but J Butler goes to Houston yeah I think I actually think this is the the closest or the um the most likely scenario because you know I heard somebody compare Houston to where OKC was last year the other day and I’m like no I don’t think that’s the case because I don’t think like Houston doesn’t have an SGA like they don’t have a guy that you’re confident at the end of the game of saying like that’s our guy it’s a go-to like you’re putting the ball in Shing gun’s hand or Jaylen Green’s hands right now or you know van vet somebody like that so I think that they could go get Jimmy and I think this Jimmy situation is going to get kind of weird because he some leverage if you know even in some of the reporting that he could opt out where he’s like saying he’s going to opt out to sign a new contract this coming offseason so he kind of controls that future a little bit with that to where if the price goes down some I think Houston could get him at a fairly decent price without having to give up like a ton of you know pieces or draft fics and all of that and it it really comes down to two different things they have one big contract in Van vet if they wanted to go that route but the only problem is they’re not playing Reed Shepard a ton right now so like and who’s your other ball handler are you saying Thompson Thompson yeah are you saying like Hey we’re win now team like wanting to be in the playoffs and I’m in you’re our guy right now I mean Jimmy Butler kind of de facto becomes that guy because he’s that guy for Miami some nights true uh I think I think they entertain this type of Route so you got to throw in some you got to throw in some type of asset uh whether it’s a pick young player or whatever it is um so what if what if they said all right well the next biggest contract is Dylan Brooks so Dylan Brooks Stephen Adams and Reed Shepard goes to Miami okay and then they call up Dallas they’re like hey we know you want another Wing Defender and they say we’ll we’ll send Dylan Brooks to you guys we reroute him yeah we’ll reroute Dylan Brooks to you guys because we’re going we’re trying to go like younger you send us back Maxi Quinton Grimes and ohx oh you just put a knife in both of our hearts for Quinton Grimes and you for omx that’s those have been our guys but you get Dylan Brooks and maybe that gives you the attitude that you need to to go you gotta have a crazy guy to win a title sometimes so I guess I guess it comes down to like when there everybody’s healthy I’m not saying that I would do this I’m just saying I could like if this trade happened tomorrow was like some breaking talking about it three you know three team deal and this was the makeup like I wouldn’t be like oh I see why Dallas did it I guess it comes down to like when they’re fully healthy omx doesn’t play so do you think it’s enough of an upgrade for Dylan Brooks over Quinton Grimes and Maxi your backup four becomes really tough at that point then all of a sudden you don’t really have a backup four y you still have your picks though you still have two firsts and two seconds and a swap that you can do something else with you don’t really have contracts to trade though that’s tough yep you get you bring Dy the Dylan Brooks piece is interesting because he’s Marie Morris baby back up four just kid haven’t even looked at him yet I mean Dwight has been the backup four more recently than Marie Morris has okay don’t say that he was I know he was what was that game recently where Gafford and Dwight were playing together because I text you I was like Dwight’s playing a backup four over over over omx and that’s not a good sign for art my guy it hurt his heart yeah the D Breon is interesting what does do Houston become that much better with Jimmy Butler losing losing Brooks and losing I guess Reed Shepard I me doesn’t really play too much for him so you’re swapping out Dylan Brooks for Jimmy Butler like I feel like that’s a pretty good pretty good trade out if you’re Houston yeah Dylan Brooks takes some wild shots but he’s he’s been really good for them this season actually yeah and if you’re Miami it’s like all right if you really do think Jimmy’s a one-year rental you’re swapping him out for these young guys and Reed Shepard uh omx Quinton Grimes like gmes would be so good in Miami that’d be annoying I know once again not saying I would do this deal but I could see I was trying to think I’m like could Dallas get in on like a third as a like the third team on it um you look at like the Phoenix stuff it’d have to be Bradley Beal and it’s like no I don’t I’m not not not it on Bradley b no because I mean it’s Bradley Beal makes $50 million so it’s like the same amount of players you’d have to give up to get Jimmy is the same thing for Beal and like no don’t want to do that doesn’t make sense is there an iteration of a golden state three team thing no it’s just I the Jimmy stuff is just fascinating to me and watch him get traded tomorrow Dallas somehow and I’m just like what and I just look so stupid that’ be wild I just don’t think it’s like I don’t think there’s any world that’s it’s really happening that much I’m just not even like paying I’m paying attention to it for the league purpose but I’m not paying attention from a Dallas angle too much yeah because it it would be it would be super shocking for Jimmy Butler to end up on the Mavericks like all the all the things we laid out at the beginning it’s just it’s really hard to trade for a guy like that and it would be a desperate it would would you think it would be a desperate move for the Mavs to do I don’t I’m I think Nico’s done too much for me to think something’s desperate I I would if Nico traded for Jimmy Butler I would be like all right like he’s earned the trust with me to where like I need to see one or two go bad before I’m like okay what are we doing type of thing if Jimmy made $25 million then I would say I would be on this podcast saying right now I really think they’re getting Jimmy but he makes double that yeah he makes double that because it’s the type of player in move that Nico would say yeah like we have a relationships we have Kyrie and Luka come like come play with these guys and we can make these contracts work pretty easily and they have right now Dallas is setting on some picks couple smaller contracts and stuff like and some movable contracts so they can be in the game for a lot of people but 45 plus like past that it’s tough for them to be in the game very tough for them to be in the game so it doesn’t really make any sense for the maps to be in the Jimmy Butler business but they’re getting brought up in it and they’re they’re part of it the Warriors are actually star hunting so it kind of it makes it does make sense for them to be I could see them yeah mentioned in these Rockets they were in on the the fake Kevin Durant things last year that that was a weird trade thing that went around and then Phoenix I mean I think Phoenix is comes from a place of desperation yeah I mean yeah I mean could there be another team that comes in there like Cleveland and says hey we’ll do it I mean they they’ve swung for some some stuff in the past um but yeah I think it’s golden state or Houston and you look at Golden State I mean he just he obviously like fits their timeline type of thing I’m not giving up kaminga for him um where’s all the pods people because I was hearing some P Brandon pky yeah I was hearing some wild pods takes over after last season and uh they’ve died down pretty pretty quick this year he has he has not been as good as he was last year and they I mean he’s probably going to be in a trade if they do something like this yeah so and Jimmy would make sense basketball-wise and all the stuff so I could see that for sure Steph Jimmy and Draymond is that’s a wild from another Mavericks angle real quick like you don’t want him to come to the West because no yeah we’ve just been talking about how like there’s not many teams in the west that I’m like scared of or I would be worried about going into a series besides like an OKC you know I I think that’s the missing piece for like Houston even though Houston’s still young I still wouldn’t be like overly worried but like if Golden State got Jimmy and Jimmy’s pretty healthy come the end of the season like that’s depending on what pieces they kept around them yeah that mean that would be that would be kind of scary I wouldn’t want to play them in the playoffs no yeah because well the thing about the rocket the thing about the Rockets has been that they the Rockets don’t have a go-to guy and then all Jimmy Jimmy would give him a go-to guy so that one that that would would change he would love him too I think yeah yeah because he he would get them all he would get all those young guys to step up and to I mean he’d play with the third stringers against them like he did Minnesota when he played with those guys in Minnesota after that practice and he was like these guys can’t win and then man it was different unless they flipped him for Ben Simmons so the Mavs though are the contending team that just got thrown into this and are now in a good position compared to those other teams and it’s just wild the NBA the drama always the drama always shows up in the and you got to love it and I think this is kind of where we’re at now with Dallas of hey they have like while ago like I said they have some assets they have the win now players they’ve shown the track record over the past few years they’ve went to two Conference Finals in a finals like they have the Superstar and Luca they’re going to be in a weird way now like they’re going to be tossed around with some of these stars that probably they’re probably going to be tossed around and when some of these stars are disgruntled or they might be going somewhere else you might see Dallas just kind of thrown in there it’s like what world is this we’re living in any of those things where the maps are the best odds to trade for this player it’s like that’s all garbage is that white Howard I don’t believe in the maps the leaders in the clubhouse to for the PJ Tucker sweep Stakes okay apparently no one’s in the PJ Tucker to is flying to Dallas coming up let’s get into some more players let’s talk about other players the Mavs could trade for the Wizards the Jazz and the Nets according to Stein are the clear sellers should the Mavs be interested in any of those players yes we’ll tell you who coming up you don’t we did get one update is the early asking price for the Nets is is at least one first round pick which means it’ll eventually go which means it’ll eventually go to two seconds the update there guys look into look into the screen wherever you’re watching this or or or gaze deeply with your ears into the podcast anybody who hits the market right now the asking price is a first- round pick yes anybody like you name the player right now Salah mazri he’s not even on a team but he’d be a first- round pick all right that’s just what everybody’s thring out right now because you don’t have to make trades right now like it’s so when I see those reports I literally giggle it’s like asking price starting first round pick for shter it’s like cool um would not Shock me if I mean there’s only so many first- round picks around the league right he’s on an expiring deal um so anyway I I still think Dorian is getable I think yeah for everything um where are you at on cam Johnson though oh on the Dorian thing I got one more thing oh really one more thing this is this is $1.2 million off the Mavs would would gain 1.2 million in the cap which would be which would get them under the the tax which is what they want all right are we sure they really want that though like I mean if they could get better and also not have to pay the luxury tax in a perfect world I just it just hasn’t been I’ve seen a lot of people talk about the tax that tax number and it’s like until I see like a firm report on Dallas is really trying to get under the tax I don’t think they’re worried about paying the tax right now anyway well I mean one of the things is right now they have to match or they have to they can’t take any more money back than they give out so if they got under the tax they could do that in a different deal yeah and next year too um Maxi Hardy and exom .2 million difference for Dorian for Dorian they got two seconds so they can throw one of those in there Hardy counts as the other second is it bad that I’m just like hesitating on EX him I I think Dorian comes in and plays the backup four and I think that he Shores up that spot I know I know you’re not as you’re not as high on him as the backup four but wait who Dorian why am I not oh maybe that was slightly no yes no I am don’t compare no don’t even I I will never diss Dorian Vinnie Smith um no D here’s okay now I got to do my the backup for that can be versatile on defense and the cherry on top is a the guy that’s like been here and knows the the place and the culture and teammates and all this stuff so it just happens to be Dorian fny Smith so people are like oh you’re just biased because you like Dorian yeah I do like Dorian but he fits everything on paper and I don’t think it would take a ton to go get him um so yes I think Dorian is super reasonable if you said hey Dallas trades for somebody this off or this before this trade deadline you have to pick a player who’s the most likely player I’m sandor and Finny Smith so where are you at on cam Johnson cam Johnson makes a lot he makes 23.6 I mean it’s not a lot for an NBA player but it’s it’s a lot to trade for unless you’re doing like clay which doesn’t really make any sense I’m kind of out and also cam Johnson gets injured a lot too right I like cam Johnson a lot it’s I’m kind of struggling like cam cam played 58 games last year he played 42 games between Phoenix and Brooklyn the year before 66 year before that 60 year before that and 57 year before that some of those were shorten years because of Co but still he has not even gotten 70 one he’s a sniper all right I mean he is an incredible shooter so yes I I do love that he’s 68 he’s got great great size I am like he went to North Carolina yeah no he’s got Isaac’s always got a buy his for it’s just like he’s too good to probably to trade for to bring him off the bench but like can and disagree really yeah you could bring him off the bench okay all right he’s just aaging like 19 game right now and all this stuff and because I’m I’ve been like hesit about his fit with like PJ and it’s like all right I guess they could be fine um but anyway for the money purposes yeah I’m I’m a little bit lower but if they traded for him I would totally get it because he could shoot the lights out we’ll do one more thing later today and talk about herb Jones we’ll also talk about a bunch of
