for e e e for for e warning incoming game over warning incoming game [Applause] over let’s see are we live I think we’re good to go hello everybody uh welcome to the game over Winnipeg’s postgame show of tonight’s afternoon matchup uh I say tonight’s afternoon today’s afternoon matchup uh between the Winnipeg Jets um and uh Chicago Black Ops I don’t know why I had a brain I was paused there for a second I guess in my head yeah welcome uh Jets Blackhawks um just wrapped up Jets W4 to2 um the Jets are the first team in the NHL to get to 20 wins on the season season uh as they mooved to 20 and8 uh pretty good record as we Kickstart the year um and just a heads up to everybody uh check out hyperdrive hockey um it’s the flagship show of the game over Network here um hyperdrive hockey which is all things hocky uh across various leagues in multiple countries uh whatever it is and wherever it is Max Daphne and Kev have you covered for all of your hockey news with a steady dose of fun and fan engagement you can find hyperdrive hockey on the game over Network YouTube channel or wherever you listen to your favorite podcast on the hyperdrive hockey page uh or at the at or at the gameover network.com I’m still chuckling to myself at my I was loading I guess in my head there for for a second but as I said the Jets were 42 winners this afternoon over Chicago that is Chicago I almost said Columbus um but we play Columbus tomorrow um another uh not the Jets best game again obviously we have not been playing good for the last two weeks but um you know this was a step in the right direction I think and I think hopefully the Jets can kind of build off this and um you know find find their aame again back and this uh they showed a lot of glimpses uh today they they showed some life they um the score could have been a lot uh worse than 42 to I felt like um I know Chicago scored on really like the few chances that they had this game um that was uh Alex vasic open the scoring for Chicago on the first shot of the game nine minutes in um Gabriel valard tied it a few minutes later with a nice tip in in front of the net he’s good for those that was his that was Gabriel Gabriel Val’s 11th of the year um and then in the dying seconds of the first period um Alex Martinez scored his first as a Blackhawk uh to put the team up 2 to one um and I guess that was kind of all Chicago really did I felt like um getting those two goals cuz they um they were kind of on their back you know their their back heels the rest of the night um you know neita ryer scored uh to make it 22 a Nifty Nifty backand in front of the net um in the second period i as I tweeted on Blue Sky I felt that that was the best uh period the Jets had played um throughout the these last two weeks kind of throughout this um you know slump that the Jets seemed to be in um you know they were just really able to roll kind of line after line and like um keep momentum going line after line shift after shift um you know each line was producing getting chances good getting good Puck possession getting down low in the offensive zone um Brad Lambert missed a wide open net which I’m I’m sure sure he’s teed off at um and I thought that was going to be his first NHL goal he looked um he looked really good tonight I think this was Brad Lambert’s best game um as a jet definitely his played in the second and third period um you know we something for jets fans to you know get excited about he had um one shot and one hit uh today on 12 minutes of ice time 17 shfs um yeah he looked great Lambo was great so it was two two or two uh and in the third period um as I kind of thought like the way the momentum was kind of had shifted in the Jets you know favor the way they were building momentum shift after shift um it was pretty clear that they were able going to be able to uh pull this one out in the third period and that’s and that’s what they did um Mark shley scored um we’ll talk about the first line in the next segment um but Mark shley was able to score to put the team up 3-2 um just kind of a a free goal in front of the net um and then Mason Appleton scored uh the empty Netter Mason Appleton’s fifth of the year um to put the put the Jets up 4 two and that’s how the game ended um huk was um I wouldn’t say a little I don’t know if shaky is the word but hellu wasn’t his best and didn’t have to be his best tonight um he stopped 12 shots 12 he stopped 12 of 14 for the win um then he’ll he’ll get a break tomorrow for tomorrow’s game Eric comry will get get in net and then you’ll see hellu again um I assume on Tuesday and Thursday back in Winnipeg against uh Boston and Vegas um going to the chat is if anyone’s here feel free to talk if you have any questions I can try to answer um surprise surprise we don’t have many viewers once again we’ve tried to get this show out there on Blue Sky on Twitter uh Instagram um yeah uh let’s do another ad read here um for larouche uh as we go to the say the second period um so game over Network um is an independent production which is focused on community inclusion and quality people uh so if you’re interested in supporting the game over network uh we have uh some crowdfunding options available to you um in the description of this episode you’ll find a link to our patreon page and we’re also working on a page through larouche uh which is a crowdfunding platform for companies originating in Quebec um for larouche we’re aiming to raise $155,000 uh and if we hit that goal we’ll gain access to government grants uh that will allow us to employ more people um so if you have any ideas uh you know for what you like to see as giveaways from these crowdfunding efforts please let us know in the comments on Twitter Instagram um our Discord server or the Blue Sky kind of the new Twitter um um I think myself and a lot of the game over hosts have kind of migrated over there and um I was post I post Lots kind of during the Jets games and whatever Jets news or NHL news that comes up check it out check us out um yeah we appreciate the any kind of feedback um couple other notes from the from the game uh tonight uh Peter morik uh who started the game for Chicago inet he went down with an injury um you know pretty early on in the game about 10 minutes in uh Arvid Soder Blom came in the rest of the way he kind of he performed uh admirably I guess he stopped 21 and 24 um just did good enough just did good enough to not get embarrassed but just bad enough to kind of hand the Jets the win at the end there um thought this was Billy hola’s best game so far this season and probably one of his best games as wi to Pig jet um I guess you could stay the same about Logan Stanley had a I wouldn’t say he had a good game but um I’m also he had a a decent enough game that we’re not going to you know totally crap on him and you know want him out of town like we have been for every other game that he’s played this season um you know vly looked good he had a shot uh two blocks on 13 1330 of ice time um would have been nice uh you know for for Lambert or hola you know you know get a point today they definitely had you know their chances the two uh you know young rookies on on this team um you know for Brad Lambert it was only his fourth NHL game uh today uh and he was like I said before this was his best game by far he looked a lot more confident um with the puck and that was going to happen um you know the nerves are you know look less there and if we’re being honest it helped playing a Chicago Blackhawks team that is barely um you know very NHL caliber at this point um you know there’s a lot of a lot of open Ice Space um a lot of um yeah it’s a lot of iceh handed kind of the players uh you didn’t have to kind of work or fight for you know your space as you would if you were playing uh you know one of the top teams so um liked what I saw from Lambert I did notice in the final four minutes that uh you know Scott arneal once again shorten the bench and put alexiah follow with um nessov and Peretti on that second line and know Lambert essentially didn’t play the last couple minutes um you know which he did that um earlier last game against um their Buffalo game a couple nights ago they did uh he short in the bench with about 12 minutes left and then um Lambert played on the fourth line um I do get it to some extent uh I just don’t love like the the desperation almost from the you know from our Neal there because you know Brad Lambert was one of your best players uh tonight I would say five on five um and I don’t I feel like not that you can necessarily trust them but like it’s Chicago and you got a one-goal lead um I I think that we can just let run your lines and let the let let Lambert play uh and just trust that he doesn’t you know screw things up for the for the team I don’t know if it was necessary to you know you’re trying to build confidence you’re trying to get Lambert playing in these late game situations cuz that’s how he’s going to grow and gain confidence and you know the second game in a row second game in a row they you know they pulled him at the end of the game so you know tomorrow tomorrow they play Columbus you know another you know kind of not bottom theater as they have Columbus has had a good um you know starts of the season but um you know it’s definitely a game that the Jets should be winning even on a back toback even with Eric comry and net um and I just I want to see yeah some more steps for Brad Lambert tomorrow um just you know hopefully the Jets get a lead he can play the whole game uh and it’d be great to see him get his first goal um he was so close uh today um and yeah I was going to talk a little bit about um the first line um who I haven’t um just not loving not loving Connor shle valard um you know five on five still and it’s kind of been a growing theme uh this season for the Jets um Mark shley is clearly still playing he he’s taking faceoffs right now but he’s still clearly playing through something um you know it seems like something with the maybe the wrist um he did score a goal tonight um that line did score five on five uh even twice I guess with Val’s goal uh schley’s goal was a a tap in um just kind of a Connor shot on that redirected right to shle stick and put in the open net um this is a line that constantly gets um you know hemmed In Their Own Zone uh when they’re playing five on five um I feel like when I watch Connor shle vality that I’m watching um three very skilled hockey players um playing together um that can’t uh play away from the puck that constantly have to be on their they have their in Their Own Zone A lot of the time and they’re trying to defend and just they don’t know how to get the puck back um when they have the puck when they’re you know marching up ice that’s great they do get their obviously they get their looks um but it’s just you know they give up more than they produce as a line which you know doesn’t really help your team in in the long in the grand scheme of things you know they were on the ice for um Chicago second goal at least maybe the first I don’t remember who’s on the ice but you know so they they were on the ice for another five on five five goal um tonight I guess they out produced that they did score two but um and maybe some of that has to do with Mark schley’s injury too um but if you’re injur if he’s injured um it’s you know hurting his game or if they can it’s something that they can he can possibly you know injure more um I just think that you know he he could sit out for a couple games um if that meant you know healing this injury um CU obviously we want to see Mark shley 100% um you know for the playoffs as really um all that we care about I think um you know it’s kind of a foregone conclusion that the Jets will make a will make the playoffs you know they’re the only team with the 20 wins they’re you know they’re second in the league right now um so they will be in the playoffs and you just want to be healthy and you want to be playing good hockey um you know when the playoffs start uh so if Mark shley has a lingering injury I just I don’t is it I don’t know why he’s playing if you’re not you know close to 100% because he does not look like his normal self um I thought that maybe he was you know playing um until Team Canada announced their um for Nations Cup team uh but you know since he didn’t make the team um I don’t know you know I thought that maybe like him not making the team would kind of light a fire under under him and like that he would start playing a lot better um but I don’t know I’m just uh I just want to see shle you know back to being a like playing like a number one Center on a cup Contender should and we know we haven’t had that for the last two weeks um we haven’t had a lot of good play as well though from the Jets um for these last two weeks it’s not just shley it’s not just uh the first line um you know K Connor hasn’t been all that active um you know the second line of to late you know has been non-existent and C per Fetti has been non-existent you know that Stanley hola has not been good um so I I think that like I said at the at the outside of the show I think that there were a lot of positives to take from this game I think this was the best the Jets had looked in a little while um especially in the second and the third period this afternoon so let’s see what they can do let’s see if they can build it um you know going going forward for you know Columbus tomorrow and then more importantly you know going back back and playing some good teams in Boston and Vegas um at at home too which is nice um so yeah we’ll do another ad read as we go to the third period here um to talk about game on Winnipeg which we don’t have yet um you know game over Winnipeg what you’re watching right now has you covered uh after the game uh but in order to get ready to watch watch the Jets um you’ve got to get your game on too uh so game on Winnipeg is a short form Daily News podcast covering everything you need to know about the Winnipeg Jets uh debuting soon I hope we don’t have it yet soon hopefully you’ll be able to get all your jets news in under 10 minutes Monday through Friday on the game over Winnipeg’s YouTube channel and in podcast form which you can find at the gameover network.com Pages Winnipeg as I said we don’t have game on Winnipeg yet um I believe Harrison Lee is going to start that up at some point when I don’t know we do have game on for a lot of um if not all the other Canadian markets with game over uh so you can check that out and see what it’s about um just kind of gives you a quick hit Daily News what’s going on for your team what’s going on in the league um yeah check it out is there anybody in the chat hello we got a couple people watching if you’re there ask a question um I can only talk uh I can only talk uh you know to myself in front of this uh front of a mirror for so long here uh yeah as we wait for comments um you know now that we’re in the the third period here uh um I guess I want to talk a little bit more about um you know Nino neita Rider uh his role with the team um you know tonight he scored his 10th goal of the year um on a you know a gorgeous Nifty goal in front um you know I think that Neo NE Rider has been one of the Jet’s top five players this season as a whole um you know he’s been fantastic um and just really like show you know the Jets depth um you know that a player of his caliber is playing on the third line um as we as I talked about I think on the last show I think that nino you know deserves a bump up in the lineup at times you know he could be playing top six minutes um I also know that he’s got a good thing there with um you know n Nino Lowry and Appleton um you haven’t loved Appleton’s game for the last month month and a half two months um but know Neo NE r is just such a good um you know Swiss army knife I know it’s kind of a pun because he’s swiss but he really does um you know so many things like he’s um and he’s a driver like he’s um you know power forward he drives play um you know whenever’s whenever he’s on the ice um I like he’s he’s paired so well with Adam Lowry night in night out they have good chemistry um you know they shut down the other team’s top lines every single night uh and you know can also he can also get in on the offense you know which he did today he’s you know he’s a top former top five you know NHL draft pick he’s a perennial 20 goal scor in the NHL and you know he’s got now 10 goals in 28 games so you know at this rate you know he’s definitely going to you know surpass the 20 goal plateau again for about the sixth time in his career and um you know I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up with at least 25 somewhere between 25 and 30 if he keep scoring at this out uh keeps putting out this output I guess um it’s just impressive to see you know Neo’s 32 um you know he signed he resigned with the Jets um you know during last season he I think he’s a guy that wants to be here he likes Winnipeg um you know he’s got a good thing going he’s got a good role here I think he’s happy off the ice um he does a lot of um as kind of charity work you know he helps out with the Humane Society uh loves the do dogs and then I think he also helps coach um you know a true north minor hockey team so he’s you know trying to get you know pretty involved in the community which is great to see um and it’s also great to see how he’s been looking on the ice uh so I wanted to give um just a lot of credit for Nino uh he’s um I’m not going to call him a journeyman but he’s a player that’s um you know long been serviceable in the NHL as um as a top six player um you know he was top six in Carolina for a long time top six in Minnesota and you know kind of when he first came to Winnipeg I I know that he played you know on the first line and on the second line briefly for a bit um you know when he first got here but uh you know the majority of his time uh with the Jets for at least you know all of last season all this season he’s been a a third line player um and for some you know that might have been seen as a you know taking a step back um you know but in Nino’s case it’s almost like taking a step forward you know the Jets third line is um you know really the second line for the minutes they play um you know obviously Neo’s not playing with um you know some similarly skilled offensive Talent on his line um but he makes the he still produces offense he produces more offense than you’d think you know when you play with um Lowry and Appleton um so I’ve always thought you know that if someone was going to get a bump up you know to play you know on the first line with um you know if they ever do break up Connor and shley um I think that you could put throw Nino on a line with shley um and you could see I think You’ see Nino NE Rider you know produce more um so yeah that’s something that I just like to see uh if if it if duty calls like if there’s an injury or something like that uh and you know could get get a bump up and he could he could more than hold his own um at the same time he’s doing a hell of a job where he is right now and maybe you don’t want to split that up I don’t know it’s clear the Jets have no intentions of splitting that up if they L injuries to kind of take over so we’ll go to overtime we’ll do uh another ad read we’ll put the merch up on the screen for all you guys to everybody to check it out um what better way to support something you love than by rocking it as clothing uh game over’s apparel line has dropped with three Unique Designs uh whether you feel the nostalgic pull of our retro skater design uh want to make a statement with our established design which is currently on sale uh want to wear your love for goalies proudly with our Liv and die by the goalie design or if you just need another uh cup of coffee uh to get you through the winter as we do have mugs you know we have you covered here designed by Brady chalice from game over Winnipeg who I got a bit of a bone to pick with I I’m not gonna say it on not gonna talk on the stream but um got a bit of a bone to pick with Brady chalice uh you can use the QR code on the stream now and take a look through our apparel store and help us rebuild local sports media in Canada while repping your community leave that up there there’s a lot you know it is kind of Christmas season um I wonder if the Canada Post you know no delays might delay the shipments of game over apparel um I don’t know I don’t know but still order away anyway I think the strike is hopefully ending soon and yeah please check it out I’ll get that off um is there anything going in the chat oh we do have one we do have one message from uh P Lindberg um the late P Lindberg was a great Philadelphia Flyers goalie who died in a car accident at the kind of the peak of his career um obviously that’s not P Lindberg but someone who’s um remembering him I guess so hello p uh he says is this the end of Stanley heinola um I assume you mean as a pairing as a defensive pairing um one would hope you know I did feel like this was their best game together um I feel like you need to get Colin Miller back in the lineup uh at some point and hopefully that doesn’t mean taking out hola hopefully it means taking out Stanley um you know I would like to see hola and Miller get a bit of a you know a five game five to 10 game Runway at least and see what they can do together um you know Billy heol has had to play on this off his off hand side you know playing with Logan Stanley he’s over on the right um although he’s a a left hand shot to defenseman um so yeah we hope this is the end of Stanley hola but knowing the Jets I’m sure that we’ll see them back together tomorrow against Columbus um I’ll have to listen to see um comments from Scott arneal what kind of what he thought of the game um what he thought of them of the team but I think that they want to like give Stanley and heinola um you know more Runway to see what they can do they’re both you know still considered young players um and they just want to see you know what they can um how they can produce at the NHL level um I don’t think that it’s going to be a pairing you know for the playoffs or anything like that um i’ highly anticipate the Jets to make um you know some deadline moves for one or two defensemen um if they want to be a cup Contender at this point uh so yeah I think a lot of jets fans are hoping it’s the end of Stanley heinola um let’s see what happens let’s just go from those we’ll start we’ll go from tomorrow’s game and uh go from there so with that um we’ll start the wrap up here um so we will be back I will be I will be back uh for tomorrow tomorrow after tomorrow’s game it’s a another kind of early one Sunday Sunday night it’s a 5:00 start at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets um where the Jets will hope to make it um be the first team to get the 21 wins go to 21 and8 um on a back toback back Eric c will be in the Jets net um you can join myself and likely Braden we haven’t seen Braden for a while but I believe I’ll be doing the postgame show from um family’s house having a you know I think a family dinner on Sunday so you know you might see myself and bra and do the show to uh together tomorrow uh if I can kind of coax him into it um yeah so about five minutes after the game ends um you can find us here again on the game over when Pig uh YouTube channel uh the game’s at 5: so probably around 7:45 Central um the link will be posted on Blue Sky on Twitter and all that stuff um yeah and we hope to see you there so uh take care everybody good win for the Jets 20 wins and we’ll see you tomorrow peace for
