for for e for warning incoming game over warning incoming game over hello welcome good evening everybody uh welcome to the game over Winnipeg uh postgame show from the Winnipeg Jets uh um versus Pittsburgh Penguins game that ended 4-1 uh in Winnipeg’s favor uh the Winnipeg Jets are now 17 and three um to start the season 17 wins in the first 20 games it’s been one incredible ride um and this was kind of the perfect start the perfect start I would say to you know this road trip um you know the longest road trip of the season for Winnipeg um they were just you know it was a game where they dominated from start start to finish um it was very impressive um they locked a lot of things down they got offense from a lot of different places um yeah so it was just fantastic um hit a quick ad read here as we start um hyperdrive hockey which is um check uh check out the flagship show of game over Network on the game over Network channel uh hyperdrive hockey all things all things hockey across various leagues in multiple countries um whatever it is and wherever it is uh Max Daffney and Kev have you covered for all of your hockey news with a steady dose of fun and fan engagement um you can find hyperdrive hockey on the game over Network YouTube channel or wherever you listen to your favorite podcast on the hyperdrive hockey page um over at or over at the the gameover network.com so what a game uh what a game for the for the Jets tonight um you know and it started right away Neo NE Rider kind of got the ball rolling um you know just over a minute into the game um you know a good playoff a turnover in front of the net and put in the net uh to make it one- nothing um in the second period vladislav namestnikov um you know walked in uh scored on a second chance uh in front make it two nothing um Gabriel valard scored his eighth goal the season um on the power play to make it 3 nothing um um Pittsburgh would get one back um Michael bunting scored on the power play Early in the third period um to make it 3-1 but that was um that was as close as Pittsburgh Pittsburgh was going to make it um Kyle coner scored an empty Netter um you know in the last minute uh to make it 4-1 and that’s how the game ended uh Conor huk was great uh he stopped uh 17 shots um it was a great game for Winnipeg um for Pittsburgh it was not a very pleasant experience um there were a lot of times throughout the game um where Pittsburgh’s coach Mike Sullivan you could tell was very um you know agitated on the bench um you know with how you know maybe with maybe with the how the calls were going but more so probably how his team was playing you know how they weren’t able to match win a pigs um you know just tenacious uh tenacity throughout the you know the 60 Minutes um you know a lot of teams are struggling to to Really match Winnipeg um you know pound-for-pound um you know through a full game and that’s part of the reason why um you know Winnipeg’s you know been so successful this year you know that you know maintaining um you know very sound solid defensive structure uh willingness to play that defense you know night in and night out all game long um and then you know and saying that also creating you know a lot of variety in their offensive chances which the Jets are doing and um you know they looked they defin know a team as historically good as Pittsburgh over the years um you know win a pig you know just outclass them you know by a few classes I would say um plain and simple um and I would even point I would even Point uh uh the game had a little bit of everything it had a little bit of the unexpected um you know I would be remiss if I didn’t mention um the fight that we saw between uh Sydney Crosby and uh Kyle Connor um I I tweeted on Blue Sky it was you know probably the unlikeliest fight you know of all time I would say and the two unlikely combatants um I think there was a little bit of frustration from Crosby’s end I think Conor got him earlier in the play and then you know they kind of you know got uh into some fisted cuffs around the benches um and you know they were both sent off for fighting it was just uh uh you know kind of comical in a sense um you know there’s two people um in Kyle Conor’s case especially you know someone that you know never fights never is you know getting in there when there’s rough stuff is not a physical player um but I will give Kyle Connor some credit uh I’ll give him a lot of credit he’s a one heck of a hockey player but ever I I felt like kind of ever since um you know late late last season in that you know into that playoff series with Colorado um you know his game’s really um you know his game’s almost evolved uh you know to a point where he’s playing um you know not just two-way hockey but he’s playing with a bit of a you know bit of an edge a bit of a Mean Streak more willing to engage um you know maybe in the physicality um you know maybe you know he’s not just a you know a one-dimensional goal scorer he’s playing more um you know of an allaround Team game and again I think you know shley is doing the same thing this year and you know into last year as well um and those are big reasons you know why the Jets are we have 17 wins of our 20 games like we’re getting if we like we’re getting getting a lot of buy like we’re getting Buy in from Connor we’re getting Buy in from shley you know buyin from eers um it’s and I think um because the fact that we’re so successful you’re going to see these players continue to buy in um because they’re you know they’re reaping the benefits you know of playing the you know this right style of hockey that’s been working um you know they stat they’re they’re really patting their stat lines you know all these players are you know well over a point per game players while still playing the right way um so it’s it’s been it’s been downright impressive um you know up and down the lineup and especially you know your top guys have to be great um I mean AR I you know our top guys have been great um so it’s just been a treat to watch and I’m I’m still kind of stunned you know 20 games into into the season I don’t think anyone would have said that the Jets um you know would have won 17 of them would be top team top team in the National Hockey League uh you know it’s been it’s been great it’s been fantastic um you you know this it’d be great if this could be the season where um you know the Jets can finally raise a banner you know we’ve been in the league since uh you know 2011 um so I guess this 14th season I don’t know if my Mouse’s right um but we’ve never won a division you know never won a conference yet um you know I will say the uh the 2018 season I think we were second in the NHL um the whole you know the entire season uh but the first place team was Nashville that was in our division so they took home the president Trophy and you know this the Central Division or we we would have been right there so um you know it’s exciting to see that you know we could um you know you know win one of these regular season banners you know albeit as we know it doesn’t really mean anything at the end of the day it’s what you do in the playoffs um you know but if the Jets are kind of hopefully putting together a blueprint of how to play in the playoffs hopefully all these all the success that they have is hopefully um you know going to make the team um you know stronger more tight and more you know ready to play playoff hockey um you know something we didn’t really see in in the Colorado Series last year um you know where the Jets got away from their game and weren’t able to match Colorado it would be nice if the you know the Jets this time around were that you know really hard team to play against in the playoffs um that they seem capable of um but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves I guess um you know tonight we’re just you know happy and celebrating the that’s 41 win over Pittsburgh um it was a great night you it was a great night let’s hit another um let’s hit another ad rate as we go to the second period of the show uh larouche um game over network is an independent production focused on community inclusion and quality people um so if you’re interested in supporting the game over Network we have crowdfunding options available um in the description of this episode here on YouTube you’ll find a link to our patreon page um and we’re also working on a page through larouche uh which is a crowdfunding platform um for companies originating originating in Quebec um which is probably why I never heard of Louch um but for larouche we’re aiming to raise $115,000 um and if we hit that goal uh we’ll gain access to government grants uh that will allow us to employ more people um so if you have any ideas uh for what you like to see as giveaways from these crowdfunding efforts um please let us know in the comments um on Twitter Instagram our Discord server and the ever growing um Blue Sky app um it’s been a blue sky it’s it’s like the new it’s the new Twitter it’s the it’s Twitter without all the kind of the you know all the BS stuff that we’ve kind of seen on that you know app the last couple years um I’m on there it’s great I you know tweet I whatever you call it there I do that quite often and um you know with Jets news uh stories and whatnot and a lot of our other game over hosts have kind of migrated over there um you know it’s a good Community um I think blue sky is growing and growing so hopefully we’ll see some of you there or check out our Discord server um Discord is another app uh it’s kind of like a chat app we got about 100 people or so in on our Discord um and yeah anyways um I know maybe some people are interested in this coin I I put out on my um Blue Sky page earlier today that someone um a listener or a viewer uh would have the opportunity to win one of these um you know I was at the Jets game on Tuesday at home um and it was uh Canada Life Center’s uh 20th anniversary um so the first uh 5,000 people uh that were um I guess came through the gate you know got one of these coins I don’t know if they’re going to be onale sale or if they’re going to or if that was it but um you know one lucky person tonight will win this um I will save that for the third period um just so you can watch a little bit more of the show um but there’ll be just one simple uh trivia question um about the Jet’s history and the first person to write it in the YouTube comments um we’ll win the we’ll win the coin I’ll you know reach out to me with your details and we’ll get it mailed out to you um yeah um second period I kind of wanted to talk um a little little bit uh about uh Neo neider um he’s someone that I had um I blue skyed I tweeted earlier um in the game just uh when when he scored his goal he’s up to now eight goals on the season um and he’s looking you know more and more like um not I wouldn’t say his old self um I felt like L you know he was um you know good when he first got over to the Jets I liked his game a lot um you know when he was acquired at the deadline uh in 2022 23 I felt last year he wasn’t really um you know the Neo neita Rider that I’ve you know grown to like over the years I was a I was you know full disclosure I was a big fan um of Nino you know in his Islanders days and his Minnesota Wild days in Carolina um you know always had a soft spot for Swiss players I remember um you know neita Riders you know exploits at the 2010 World Juniors um you know when Switzerland um knocked off Russia in the quarterfinals um he became like a you know a highly touted player at that uh you know 2010 draft and he was ultimately picked um you know fifth overall by the Islanders um so I i’ I’ve been following Nino’s career forever um for a very long time and um it took Nino I remember it took him a little bit to even break into the NHL he was kind of considered a very slow he was very slow out of the gate where a lot of people were calling him a bust um you know for a fifth overall pick I remember I’m looking at his um you know his stats here yeah and um his he played 55 games you know in the 2011 2012 season his rookie year um guess how many goals he got in 55 games one uh one goal no assists and 55 games um so he was he was um whatever he was you know a potential draft bust the break that he got um was after spending the next season he spent the whole next season uh down in the American League um with Bridgeport and he kind of found his game I believe he had um 50 points uh in 74 games um you know he got moved uh he got dealt um you know he joined the Minnesota Wild it was kind of a fresh start for Nino um you know it was a place for him to kind of you know get his bearings you know as a as a national hockey player um you know playing on a good team um you know the first two seasons Nino was in Nino was in Minnesota um you know they were not only a playoff team you know but they got to the second round um it was uh you know so he played on a very good uh team and he was putting up numbers um you know that first season he was there he had 36 points 37 points the following year and then you know a steady clim the next season he had his first um you know 20 goal year and then he had a career high 25 goal year um you know after that and he was on his way um you know you know Neer Rider you know is one of those you know you he’s been a top honestly until he got to Winnipeg he was always um you know a um a top six player um usually playing on the second line but he’s played first line minutes for sure as well and it was really when he got to Winnipeg he’s pretty much been stapled on that third line with Adam Lowry this entire um you know tenure he’s been here um he’s always someone that I feel like you know can play more up the lineup um you know due to injuries or whatnot uh but I also think that he really likes his role with the Jets um and the Jets really like him in that role Adam Lowry really likes him you know on his on his line Mason Appleton does um you know he feels quite he’s such a you know a Swiss army knife if you will you know no pun intended with him being swiss but he’s such a good utility player um you can plug him anywhere you know he’s a line driver you know he you know he drives the pace of play um you know whatever line he’s on uh he’s tough he’s physical he’s hard to play against um he’s he’s he’s like the perfect you know complimentary middle six you know forward on a Stanley Cup champion team um and he’s really been that been that way throughout his entire career you know after Minnesota even um he went to Carolina for Four Seasons and and had a lot of success um you know he played on a line with Sebastian AO at times um you know Andre fetch nikov at times and you know had um had success scoring feeding them the puck scoring goals um you know Neo Neo’s a guy that scored uh 20 goals I believe four or five times in his career um so far and I think last year he only had 18 goals in 77 games um this year he’s going to get that for sure uh he’s up to now uh eight goals in 20 games um 13 points in 20 games as well um you know Nino’s well on his way to having a potential career year on the third line um you know which is it says a lot about him it says a lot about the the team that he’s playing around the line mates that he’s playing around um it’s been really good um and as a longtime fan of Nino I’m I was very thrilled when he um uh came over to the Winnipeg Jets um and I’m even more thrilled you know watching him play night and night out uh you know he’s a guy who’s really um he plays the right way and he’s a guy that’s really adopted um you know Winnipeg as like you know as a second home it feels like um you know he’s very involved in the community you know I’ve seen it lot you know lots of videos with him at the Humane Society big he’s a big uh you know dog fan you know loves to volunteer his time you know to help out the dogs um I believe he helps coach um like a minor a minor uh a minor hockey team you know that true north uh runs you know so he’s very involved he’s really um you know kind of a kind of a winnipegger true and true you know you that uh he signed that extension uh last year for three more years you know the shows that he wants to be here um so yeah a lot of good things I could say about NE Nino neita Rider I hope I um you know shared a little bit um you know hope um I just hope he can have a hope that he has a career year I’m a big fan of him and if he does that this teams you know going to be continuing on their way um and yeah I know we got some viewers that want to get to this coin thing let’s do another um ad read as we go to the third period um game on Winnipeg um so we don’t have game on but this is game over uh game has you covered after the game um but in order to get ready to watch the Jets uh you’ve got to get your game on too uh so game on Winnipeg is a short form uh Daily News podcast uh covering everything uh you need to know about the Winnipeg Jets um debuting soon uh get all your wiip pig Jets news in under 10 minutes um Monday through Friday uh here on the game Over wiip YouTube channel uh and in podcast form which you can find on the gameover network.com Pages Winnipeg um we don’t have game on yet um I believe we we have um uh content creator I’m going to be starting that up soon um we’re the only I think Canadian market yet that has not had game on um yet I checked out a lot of the other um markets and they do good shows it’s kind of a good way throughout the week to come in check out um just like it’s it’s quick hits It’s News kind of what’s going on with your team what’s kind of going on in the league um they under 10 minutes you know very short to the point uh and yeah you know hopefully we get that soon you know I think we shouldn’t be too hard right you know this is the Canada’s best team after all um but yeah game on Winnipeg uh coming soon um all right third period of the show and um it’s kind of been a it’s been uh the I’m holding up the coin I’m holding up the coin point do we have people watching the show right now we got I think six people hopefully a couple of them are uh listening um uh Canada Life Center has been around um you know for 20 years now um it started it uh was built uh in the early 2000s and officially opened in 2004 um you know with the Manitoba moose um as its hosts uh played host of you know many concerts and other sporting events uh you know Tim Horton rer curling event and lots of other stuff um but it was built and it it only sat its seats you know at the time I believe was just under 15,000 but now the capacity is just over 15,000 um you know although we didn’t have an NHL team at the time um you know you know true north um you know built it in downtown Winnipeg with the intention of um you know the Winnipeg Jets returning like that was the the goal was that uh you know this uh Canada Life Center at the time it was MTS center could be you know a National Hockey League um rink um you know and it you know it proved a lot of naysayers wrong when it did become an NHL rank um you know in 2011 you know when the Jets were you know considered one of those teams close to returning with either Phoenix or Atlanta moving um you know a lot of people were quick to kind of you know say oh Winnipeg doesn’t even have a a building that the NHL would um you know allow so it’s never good it’s not going to work there well it worked there um you know the Jets came back um the Jets sold out you know M the MTS center for the first uh 10 years of existence until kind of the pandemic hit uh and then obviously you know about the the drops in attendence since uh we’re kind of coming back from that it looks like um you know we don’t uh it’s it’s interesting because the wiip pig Jets don’t have the the same corporate support as you know any other um C City in the National Hockey League and we rely almost solely from you know just individual people you know people in the community to you know to support the team um you know while most well every other NHL team has 85% of their season ticket holders are you know corporate and businesses um and 15% are you know individual people flip that around that’s Winnipeg Winnipeg is 85% individual people and uh 15% uh corporate so that’s something that I think um you know you know when the Jets have had these tickets I I’m not going to call it a crisis but like these ticket problems um when they’re not selling selling up the building um you know they lost a lot of their season ticket base they’ve had to kind of recoup it um yeah you can point to that uh so this past off season the Jets um they went out and they got uh they recouped a little bit of their season ticket base uh they went from 9,000 um I believe to to 9500 season ticket hold so a gain of 500 um you know over the course of one season um it’s it’s a it’s a step in the right direction I think the the goal is to get back to um you know 13,000 um you know season ticket holders or somewhere close to there 12 to 13,000 um and yeah I’m not going to I don’t want to keep I don’t want to keep rambling on about it too much but anyways so uh the other night on Tuesday when the Jets won their game uh they handed out 5,000 of these coins I have one of them if you’re watching you can have one of them too um and you just got to be the first one uh in the chat to answer this question uh when the Winnipeg Jets came back in 2011 they lost their first regular season home game their first game ever back they lost 5-1 to the Montreal Canadians who scored the Jets lone goal in that game who scored the lone Jets goal and this player was actually my first ever interview at at a Jets game um or at a I interviewed him after practice but um we had a very nice talk about you know 10 15 minutes about his career um this player comes from an unusual um country uh there’s that’s a hint um so yeah if you’re watching um who uh scored the first ever uh Jets goal in 2.0 history in 2011 um I see that there’s three people watching if you’re watching if you if you know the answer uh feel free to write it in the chat um oh we got somebody yeah that’s correct Okay so I guess we do have somebody watching uh that’s great um you’re right yeah we got P Lindberg in the chat that’s a great name uh that’s a great homage to a um you know a fine bz winning [Music] goenda chat wrote Nikolai antropov um and that’s the correct answer so um you know you win this coin um if you find me on Blue Sky uh give me a follow um or send send me a message uh you know with your address and we’ll get this um lovely coin um mailed out to you um Mr P Lindberg um as the you know the jet celebrat or the you know kind of Life Center 20 years in Winnipeg um you know 20 years of providing entertainment um you know to a lot of um to a lot of great people um and yeah as as I said antropov was my first um uh my first interiew interview uh at a Jets game so uh when the Jets came back uh you know this would have been either the first or the second season um that the Jets were back I was a I was doing articles um for theihf uh which is the International Ice Hockey Federation um out of Switzerland and you know I would do articles about you know international players and covering I helped cover events like the world juniors World Championships and Olympics um and Nikolai anopa was from Kazakhstan um more specifically kamor um which is a very big um hockey town in eastern Kazakhstan that um a lot of nhlers um you know hail from including uh aen Nabokov um who I was a big fan of growing up um Nick anov Anton hudin uh Vitali kalnik um the list kind of goes on and on they for you know for a a kind of a random uh you know City uh it was one of the you know the top Soviet uh Union hockey teams back in the 80s and 90s and they churned out a lot of good hockey players so um I interviewed Andre P about his kind of early life in Kazakhstan um he was great with me he was great with us very gracious with this time um he was you know probably my favorite jet um in those first couple of years uh when the team was back um and that kind of got my I guess my foot in the door with hockey journalism and I’m still although it kind of went over to you know the history side you know I’ve written books about hockey history um you know I’m still you know a big trying to be trying to be into Jets media you know as much as possible and uh you know it’s opened some doors you know being able to come to some Jets games you know in the Press Box and covering games there uh you know it’s been a it’s been a fun ride you know when it all it all started with that first um you know First Media pass going to a practice interviewing antropov uh in the Jets dressing in the Jets dressing room after that so that’s a little bit of a story time um and that’s it for story time that’s it for tonight’s show um huge 41 win for the Jets tonight Over Pittsburgh um feels great uh we’re 17 and three now um wait I can’t go yet I can’t go yet sorry guys you got to hold on we got merch to talk about um let me get that on the screen yeah there we go we got uh um what better way to support something you love than by rocking it is clothing um game overs apparel line has dropped with three Unique Designs uh whether you feel the nostalgic pull of our retro skater design want to make a statement with our established design which is currently on sale um want to wear your love for goalie proudly for goalie is probably with our live live and die by the goalie design uh which you can see on the screen um or if you just need another coffee to get you through the winter uh cuz we have mugs uh we got you covered um designed by Brady chalice um from game over Winnipeg uh use the Q the QR code on stream now and take a look through our apparel store and help us rebuild local sports media in Canada while repping your community check it out people the the apparel is great it’s worth um it’s worth looking into if you want to have an additional you know some Jets wear to wear around the you know the community and stuff uh yeah I’ll get that off the screen you can see my cute face again hi um so with that um we will be uh wrapping up this show it was great it was fun uh we gave away a coin uh you know that’s always cool um uh we’ll be back here uh tomorrow night um so the Jets continue this road trip uh with a back toback they play the Nashville Predators tomorrow night at 6 o00 local um Eric comry will I will you know no doubt be a net for that one you know as the Jets look to make it 18 and three on the year uh which would be fantastic Nashville’s had a very very bad start to the year and hopefully we can get a win on them uh you know before they ultimately turn it around which I assume a team that talented will um I will be back here tomorrow night um it won’t be right after the game I have a dinner uh to go to um kind of towards the end of the Jets game um so I anticipate the show starting at around maybe 11: uh 11:00 um Central um so hope to see you there and again take care everybody have a great night and and go Jets peace
