grosser than it did last week but I still think it’s going to be a fun one obviously Xavier coming off of getting blown out by Michigan and big L scraping by against South Carolina state and then you’ve got TCU who just took L’s to Santa Clara in Colorado state in the uh I believe that was the acrisure Acer classic I don’t know how to pronounce that I think that’s what tournament I think it’s Acer Acer yeah uh I don’t know what that means or what it is but it’s a tournament that they do in the noncon so uh my my my flowers to utcu I guess fourth place isn’t great in a four team tournament but you got invited which is what matters um that was sort of mean I apologize horn frog fans I I mean look we’re gonna talk about this game We’re not gonna be here to dwell on the past losses uh both of these teams actually no Xavier isn’t coming off of an NCA tournament birth but uh TCU is obviously coming off of a couple straight and uh Xavier was ranked as ly as two days ago at the time of this recording obviously that was pre Michigan blowout so similarly matched teams I would say what are what do you think you’re looking for from this one subie yeah I think you kicked this off perfectly guy I think it’s okay to be a little negative because let me start with TCU first and foremost if you want to watch terrible boring slow bad offense the TCU horn frog are for you I love Jamie Dixon he’s a great coach this ain’t one of his better rosters and this ain’t one of his better teams man we’ve seen him with pit we’ve seen him do wonders with TCU as a matter of fact but this is just a bad bad offense man uh it’s really all Frankie Collins and Ernest UD and you actually referenced tcu’s a couple tournaments I I think what two years ago they lost to ASU um and Frankie Collins is a former ASU guys so he’s in Fort Worth right now I’m kind of wondering if Frankie Collins is saying to himself dang look at the boys in Tempe they only have one good loss which is to Gonzaga but it really is all Frankie Collins and Ernest UD TCU from the free throw line I think they’re arguably one of the worst teams in the entire country they shoot less than 60% they don’t shoot the three ball all that well they’re slow it’s just an abor offense to watch really and and I say that from a place of love and neutrality they’re just not a very good uh offense and you’re right man they haven’t played a major opponent outside of Michigan and they already have three losses so I kind of shudder to think what the big 12 Gauntlet is gonna look can I just say I I think it’s fair to call the any mountain West schools apart from like Fresno State a major opponent with the way that they’ve been playing these past few years last year they might have been the third best conference in the country I mean I don’t you know fair enough and I was a big Mountain West guy right like there was that duel between the ACC and the Mountain West and I said look just because you’re in this country club High futin uh nose up in the air like doesn’t mean that the Mountain West shouldn’t get as many bids as they did so fair enough but they did end up losing to Colorado State in overtime actually Santa Clair is pretty solid as well but TCU their their offense I I keep fixating on it I don’t think they have enough in the tank for this game game guy that’s just from the TCU side I’ll get to some some Xavier analysis in a bit but really I I’m looking at my past previews dude and I don’t remember an offense as terrible going into the game as tcu’s really is take a look at the numbers yeah it’s it’s not a good offense and I think part of that is because I and many others I think as well uh who who focused on on or not I I say who focused who have F who are you know fans of watching smaller leagues saw what traran white was doing at UNCC Wilmington putting up 20 a game last year 15 a game the year before and we thought that it would be uh a bit of a a better better time and uh for him you know uh jumping up a level and I I think that he’s struggled he’s averaging about 10 points a game last game he went two for nine from the field which is just again that’s another thing that’s abhorent and about this offense just it’s not very efficient and I think you you need better from him because it just I didn’t expect TCU to be pushing the top 25 this year and I’m getting a little bit ranty right now but it just doesn’t feel like a team that’s really going to have a shot in this big 12 no I hate to say that this early on in the season but Santa Clara hasn’t looked good it lost to South Dakota State earlier this year I think if I my memory serves me in like the first game of the year and uh you get blown out by them you lose by 17 and and my my memory serves me wrong it was North Dakota State rats uh but this Santa Clara team one of their wins is against the St Louis team that doesn’t look as strong as we thought you lose to Stanford you lose to Washington this isn’t a team that anyone in the Big 12 should be losing to and you lose to them and then you look on the Xavier side and admittedly it looks a lot better you have the win against Wake Forest who isn’t as good as we thought you have you have a few blowouts under your belt you know you got Sienna you have the win against South Carolina which isn’t a nice one against a major opponent but 71 to 68 I’m against South Carolina state I’m scratching my head I thought Zack freemantle coming back was gonna make this team unstop I mean I say unsto it was going to make this team great I thought the pickup of Ryan Conwell from uh Indiana State was huge uh Jerome Hunter is back as well and he’s put in some good minutes off the bench but I I couldn’t believe he didn’t come out he hasn’t really been coming out to start yet uh it just he’s a starting caliber player and he was a starting caliber player when he had to take the the leave obviously last year uh that whole three seed team two years ago Jerome Hunter started in the second half of that season he took the took the Reigns over about halfway through and he’s a guy who I think you need to get more involved I don’t know what you think about that but tell me what you think about Xavier I think that’s a fair point I was goingon to say for this game in particular Xavier’s a little bit more balanced I think than TCU I I mentioned UD and Frankie Collins and they do everything Xavier does have Conwell who I think is playing well he’s leading the team in points freem manle still leading the team in rebounds you got mcnight you got Swain who are contributing elsewhere sure get Jerome Hunter involved but we’ve already heard it from Shawn Miller who is very transparent especially like in his podcast and in postgame interviews where he’s saying I need guys who are willing to play defense and it seems as if that’s just his Mantra everywhere that he goes Xavier part one Arizona Xavier part two but he’s pleading essentially if you remember a couple weeks ago go pleading any guys that will buy into their roles and first and foremost play defense because if you don’t do that you’re not getting on the floor so maybe that’s where he’s continuously trying to call out and say hey whoever wants to step up to the challenge you’re going to get these minutes and hopefully we can we can win these games uh so I I think Personnel wise they’re more balanced than TCU and Conwell freem manle mcnight and Swain these two teams are somewhat similar defensively um and I think TCU can actually hang on the glass but I just don’t think TCU is going to score enough and I’m a little spooked by Xavier in a dog fight with South Carolina state because if they play like that TCU will beat them with them I might add potentially maybe I again tcu’s offense is terrible like let’s not give them that much credit either okay but I think this is a game guy that’s super interesting we always talk about games and the leadup of teams that are playing really well and I love that right Auburn Duke Duke has some really tough losses but they’re a good team Auburn Duke is going to be a lot of fun Baylor Yukon those are two teams that are actually kind of struggling a little bit but they’re top 25 right there’s a lot of great hoop this uh Marquette Iowa State I love this these types of games as well because these are two teams that are really struggling and these aren’t teams that are guaranteed a spot in the NCAA tournament I don’t think anyone’s worried about Yukon missing the NCAA tournament I don’t think anyone’s worried about Baylor missing the NCAA tournament Xavier and TCU these are big-time matchups and right now they’re struggling and you’re almost thrown into the Gladiator pit and you’re gonna say look whoever sucks more is gonna die because right now these two teams aren’t playing very well at all um but I think I’m leaning Xavier in in this matchup I am too the only thing that throws a little bit of a a wrench in that is uh the fact that this game is going to be played in Fort Worth um and can I just say sorry one last little Xavier thing and then we can go into talking about what we predict our final score to be the Dante Maddox bidding getting as high as it did is absurd for a guy who played one minute in the South Carolina State game that was a that was a dog fight I mean I I can’t believe this man was able to get into the the six figures and I don’t mean that disrespectfully at all I mean good for him he’s getting paid but yeah don’t pocket watch guy you oh no no I’m I would never pocket watch I I I love some money uh but it seemed or not it seemed it really did feel like in the offseason that he was going to get to start at wherever he went and he was super uh you know sought after in the portal he goes to Xavier and people were very impressed like oh wow maybe Xavier’s Got Deep Pockets oh that’s going to be exciting is to watch the the man played one minute in a dog fight against South Carolina state that’s confusing to me so I think that this game will be one or lost on the defensive end because I mean let’s be real TCU is not winning anything on the offensive end and if you can’t win something on the offensive end you can’t lose it really on the offensive end unless you score 30 points I I think we’re not in for the highest scoring game uh of the Season certainly if I’m looking for One X Factor it’s Ryan Conwell on Xavier by far he was great at Indiana State last year he was a bit in the the shadows of Robbie Aila and Isaiah Swope I think he’s gonna you know he’s going to assert himself I mean he’s been asserting himself for Xavier he’s a leading score but I think if there’s a game that they need him it’s this one because you’re you can’t lose as Xavier you can’t lose by that many to Michigan that just turns the ball over turns the ball over turns the ball over and then have that dog fight again with SC State I know I keep talking about it but it’s it’s appalling I mean it’s absurd and you’re a big East team you should be beating that team by 40 you know we’ve been one of the things I’ve been talking about in the sleepers media Discord which by the like UCL did so I I want to see I want to see them maybe not blow out TCU because TCU is obviously not quite a cupcake but you need to see big things from them going into that what do you think the final score of this game is going to be presented by diers Pro yeah I think the Bal of Xavier is going to ultimately win out this is going to be tough look Fort Worth is a little bit of a difficult play place to play sneaky like weird stuff happens there in that I I haven’t seen a home game for TCU yet this year I’m assuming they still have that God aul Court design all that nonsense but I think Xavier is gonna win this game 75-70 what about you um 75 to 70 they they do by the way still have the court I figured I would just let you know or at least they they I tuned into the alorn state game for a little bit just because I was confused why TCU wasn’t doing well and uh they ended they ended up winning that game actually by a bunch it was like 50 to 75 or whatever but uh that’s not the point the point is that they still have the bad Court I also like Xavier in this game I don’t think either team cracked 70 though give me Xavier 67 TC u66 I think we’re in for a nailbiter here tight one and part of that is because when there are fewer points scored there are there’s a smaller possible Gap that you can have because if one if you’re scoring a lot then you’re G to have a larger Gap just by Merit of points are worth less where hey I I’ll tell you what guy if if that is the final score I will guarantee TCU will left a bunch of points at the line again if it’s going to be tight
