take a full day off uh let’s start with the breaking of breaking news over the last five minutes Garett crochet is not going to be a New York Met Garett crochet is not going to be a New York Yankee but we sure are going to see a lot of Garrick crochet he is in the process of being finalized in a deal to go to the Boston Red Sox Jeff passen amongst others has this Red Sox dealing out of the plethora of their farm system and look the young Ace of the Chicago White Socks changes color socks goes to the Red Sox this you probably thought was not going to happen for the Yankees for two reasons we’ll get to the Kyle Tucker trade rumors and you know what the the Yankees could do there but once they sign Max freed you probably thought they were gone but I don’t know about you Tiki but also felt unnecessary yeah gett crochet to the to the Yankees didn’t feel like it was a absolute need because when you think of it now with Max freed in the rotation Garett Cole obviously is your Ace maybe free to sech him at some point but whatever Carlos rodon now there’s intermittent ups and downs between him you still have Clark Schmidt here right Lu heel for now right Luis heel for now even though it looks like you know the Kyle Tucker thing getting more and more steam he may be on on on the way out um and you know neest cores is still here so strowman strowman is still here so it’s really deep now it’s not all great it’s not all Aces it’s not all guys you can throw out there and say that’s a win that’s a win that’s win but at least two of them are G crochet felt like excess to me it to me this is more about what the Mets were trying to do to upgrade their rotation and they are the ones that might be disappointed the Yankees I think the Yankees are ecstatic with Max freed Landing here last night yeah and you’ll deal look if Max freed is going Toe totoe with G crochet sign me up for whatever that materializes in playoff series or whatever but this is a Mets question now because when we played the David Sterns audio from two days ago when every Met fan which still they all still are by the way in a euphoric State and tomorrow it looks like Juan stto will meet the media and meet his Met fans and meet them met press and all of that uh but you know you have to look at the rotation with an honest eye and say simply put it’s not good enough and when David Sterns a couple days ago you know basically said you know whoever they’re having discussions with that’s basically going to be it and you know there’s not going to be much more added to the rotation this is a team right now with kodai senga who has not proven over two years a that he’s going to be healthy enough or so banged up last year and B that he could pitch outside of a six-man rotation because he needs that extra rest they sign Kay Holmes they hope could be a starter Montas is there obviously Peterson Miguel they’re going to need and whether that’s bringing back mani or not I just thought when you sign stto the next move was going to be they’re going to shove for another big rotation piece it’s not going to be freed it’s not going to be crochet it’s probably not going to be Corbin Burns and is it Sasaki maybe but who even knows if he’s going to be good I will walk way disappointed with the Met offseason Tiki if the rotation standing man interesting because I don’t know I mean you listen to Scott Boris now Scott Boris is obviously Shilling for his own guys but you hear Scott Boris talk about the Mets plans and how he talked to David Sterns and Steve Cohen and they’re not they’re not unwilling to sign another star player type of thing but I to me it feels like he’s talking about pet lzo yes and so that’s his guy right of course it’s his guy so he’s chilling for Pete Alonzo and trying to assure Met fans that Pete Alonzo was still in the mix despite them signing Juan sto but if their actual need is not an you know a first baseman in Pete Alonzo it’s actually for starting rotation piece then how much money is Steve Cohen and David Ser going to spend this offseason again I’m I’m the first one to say stop screaming and and and moaning or or counting someone else’s money but it’s still a lot of money when you think about it cuz it’s $51 million or actually it’s probably going to be less but given the structure of the contract with juano but it’s going to be close to $50 million with Juan sto now you’re going to throw Pete in there for 20 something and now you’re going to get a starting rotation piece which unless you trade for this person it’s going to be in free agency it just it feels like the there’s too many pieces that they have to get in place in order to make this work with what they actually need other than juano yeah and I think this is where the Mets may be overthinking themselves or outthinking themselves there is no question what the Mets pulled off last year with their pitching lab and all they were able to get out of Luis srino and Shawn manah and Jose canana and you go down the line of what they were able to do after losing Koda early in the year and losing him a second time I think you get in a position now where Pete Alonzo is the fan favorite every fan wants him back you could play vantos at first but okay if they want to keep Pete and spend it there I just hope that the Mets don’t look at last year and what happened with their rotation and go this is our plan we’re smarter than everybody else and we’re going to figure this out because when you invest in a w and if you reinvest in a Pete Alonzo eventually what did the meds in wasn’t necessarily their lineup in the postseason versus The Dodgers it was they had no quality arms left to get those outs versus a lineup like that in the postseason so I think Aden wo obviously is great it puts the on a Stratosphere no doubt about it right you can’t deny it’s just it’s changed the structure the the nature the feeling of this team period it was a great signing now maybe we should maybe we’re discounting though cuz you just mentioned this and it’s probably their thinking the Mets thinking David Sterns is thinking Jeremy Hefner did a hell of a job with this pitching staff last year yeah from you know the the starting guys and to the to the bullpen maybe they’re just having a fully on like belief and I’ve I’ve peppered Evan on this multiple times but he just he never leans into it I’m serious oh he won’t fully commit on it no he won’t lean into maybe they actually believe that Brandon Sprout’s going to be really good this year right or or or blade Tidwell or whoever the there’s like three or four of these guys down there in the minor league maybe they’re really in on those guys and so the reason that they can spend so much money on Juan stto and maybe even resign as Scott Boris is alluding to Pete Alonzo is because they’re going to have these internal options now that doesn’t make you feel comfortable oh that’s that’s I think but but Jerry he did a hell of a job last year did he did and but here’s what I would look at it I want my cake and eat it too I want to put my trust in Jeremy Hefner to continue to do that but I’d also like a sure thing in my rotation yeah and if they didn’t have the the same amount of level of prospects that the Red Sox did to pull off the steal with crochet like to me I would prioritize going after a Corbin burns more than bringing back Pete Alonzo I just I want to know I could go toe-to-toe with what the Dodgers are doing with Blake Snell and Company uh what the Phillies have going with their rotation and I just think as glorious and as different a feel as the Mets have now with Juan stto they are massively massively over or underestimating I’m sorry the need for a Topline starting pitcher to just make you feel comfortable because you know what the Mets we know now they have enough to get through a regular season and make the postseason they have yeah you could outscore everybody come the playoffs and I know that it’s not always you know perfect the last couple World Series champions look at the Dodgers they had Bullpen games going on but if you’re going to get there I just need to know that in a game one or a game two of the postseason you have a guy that could shove the Mets right now don’t have that and watching starting pictures fly off the board Pete Alonzo and Juan sto is not enough for me to believe Uncle Stevie has the Mets is you know Kings again here in baseball right yeah and this all starts because Garrett crochet apparently allegedly we haven’t seen a full is it is this confirmed I think it is right if pass’s reporting it then it’s likely let see if passon has updated the Tweet right so Garrett crochet is heading um according to preliminary Twitter X whatever you want to call it to the Red Sox uh in a trade with a white sock four highly regarded prospects right so this feels like it’s done yes and this was the reason we bring this up because this Le yesterday at least was a target for the Mets it’s a way to get a a Frontline starter without having to spend a ton of money yeah yep sorry nothing else knew I was looking at this yeah y I agree and but look this is where you are Met fans right now are you just goooo Gaga over the WAN sto stuff and want Pete Alonzo back or do you think there’s the need for a starting pitcher and the Mets have dropped the ball now before we get to your met calls at 888 88119 the others I mean cuz the baseball news is flying in here and we’re probably going to get a lot of breaking news today John John hayon within the hour before our show started brought up that the Yankees are in fact aggressively pursuing Kyle Tucker the 27-year-old left-handed power hitting great defender of the Houston Astros and that Louis heel has been the Frontline name mentioned obviously when you could a guy with 5 years of control rookie of the year starting pitcher I’m still confused as to why the hell the Astros wouldn’t just pay Kyle Tucker when you bring a guy up like that but that’s not my problem to worry about if they are looking and the the Cubs are interested the Yankees are interested and here’s where I sit right now Tiki you heard me on the the RICO when they played back the clips as a Yankee fan I was and I still am devastated that they don’t have Wan sto on the team anymore but when we went over last week all the plan B’s on this show and uh Bellinger here and Christian Walker here would they consider Pete Alonzo here not once did anybody consider that the 27-year-old star from the Houston Astros was going to be on the trade block that that was even brought up right it wasn’t a plan B you were contemplating because who’s thinking about that no so while I’m excited about Max freed more on his contract later if Brian Cashman can get a deal and this has been meant Ben rice Luis heel and who Spencer Jones whoever else they got to put this deal and you get Kyle Tucker and can lock him up to deal it’s not going to cost you $800 million I wonder if Yankee fans feel the same way that I’m feeling right now perception wise I give a complete card of forgiveness to Brian Cashman and all the criticism I’ve given him I really do believe this way I for how long like what are you excusing you can’t excuse last year cuz last year he did what he needed to do you need to go get jua you’ve excusing the previous five years you excusing the previous uh nine years like what are you excusing here we get winning baseball seemingly every year from the Yankees but not gotten World Series winning baseball here since 2009 even World Series attending baseball right and we finally had that last year and I thought acquiring juoda was such a big part of that the Yankees got into the $700 million range Brian Cashman tried all he could he’s talking basically like a a military leader today when he’s leaving quotes on MLB Network about you know we’re not going to take this ly down and fighting back if you cook up a deal and you don’t quote unquote Prospect hug with your arch nemesis the team that you refuse to give credit to who is going to charge you a quote unquote Yankee tax in this deal to get with all due respect the closest thing the Yankees will be able to come up with to replacing Juan stto in terms of age ability left-handed power all of that I have to give a a forgiveness card to Brian Cashman if if he gets a steal and now it’s got to the point Tiki with so many reports where again I am on this train of setting myself up for disappointment I thought for sure they were going to find a way to keep let’s let’s let’s listen to what the music that’s been playing so previous years there’s all kinds of things that are just floating around casman’s gonna do this casman’s gonna do that casman’s gonna do blah blah blah it just kind of Never Happened instead we get the the Joey Gallows of the world love the dude but we get the Anthony rizos of the world right we get the Josh Donaldson’s of the of the baseball world and it’s like okay right right but last year it started to change a little bit and that was because he got Juan sto after the year before making sure you kept Aaron judge that’s exactly right exactly making sure you keep Aaron judge after by the way insulting him at the beginning of the season and just making him feel like a jackass but whatever you you keep Aaron judge you get Juan stto this year as soon as the woto sweep Stakes is lost to Steve Cohen what’s the first thing the next day yeah go get Max Ma and out bid the Red Sox by the way who were willing to give seven years and so I said this right after the WAN stto uh deal to the Mets happened it’s funny because I was less thinking about the Mets and it’s maybe because I’m a yany fan uh even though I appreciate the Mets I was more thinking about the Yankees like what does this mean for the Yankees Brian cman had started to change this feeling about him and then you lose this guy you are stuck in an identity crisis who are you like what are you going because you’re no longer the big bad uh the evil empire that people keep wanting to out you’re long gone from that I mean it’s probably half a decade that you haven’t been the evil empire that’s going to spend whatever it takes to go get the best players and put yourself in position to win championships the Dodgers are doing that hell the Texas Rangers did that the San Diego Padre’s are doing stuff like this and currently the our city mate the Mets are doing this more than the Yankees are so if that’s not you Brian casman Yankees what is your identity and so they needed to redefine his identity and so and so much of list the Cashman it’s like dude you’re just paying lip service man you’re just you’re just saying the things cuz it makes you feel good it makes you feel like you’re like you’re charging forward with like urg but until you do something your words are Hollow exactly right and so this year it it’s starting to make me feel like those aren’t hollow words anymore and he went and got Max freed right after he needed to re-identify or re you know create their identity now this talk of of going to get uh Tucker it feels real it does feel real just like which is why just like the max freed Stuff felt real in previous Seasons I would have been like yeah just that’s just somebody leaking what they wish it would happen but go do it now now it feels like hey we wanted to get Wan stto it happened hey we wanted we lost juano we wanted to get Max freed it happened now we want to get Tucker it could happen I actually believe it more now I do then then I would have three or four years from ago I do and if it’s going to take heal plus you do it I just don’t want to get teased again I bought in on stto I don’t want to be dashed and I also want to caution Yankee fans here at 888 808 1019 I’m going to make this declaration I’m going to be fair about something Kyle Tucker at 27 years old with his left-handed power which I think those numbers will only go up at Yankee Stadium with his ability to play great defense with his ability to run the bases steal bases all of that this combined with Max freed could potentially set the Yankees up for a more promising next five years than if they just used all of that money on Wan stto that at the same time though does not make Kyle Tucker a better player than Juan sto I want to make that very clear no he’s not he does other things that Wan sto can’t but Juan sto’s Presence at the plate we know what we just saw for 162 games cannot be duplicated cannot be replicated sto’s loss is still ginormous and he is the better player however this combined with freed this is the type of thing that gets me out of my state of depression and pumps us up so it’s on you cash dude you’re with the hottest girl in the world hottest girl that you or your boys have ever seen and you she’s your and then she breaks up with you and goes and HS with the dude next door what you going to do what you do I’m going to have Aaj with two H thank you and that’s what this is right now don’t stare at the I’m in the hot tub with two H you can have the 10 don’t stare at the ceiling and cry in your pillow all night go do something else that’s right I got one on each arm go get two eights eights and a half maybe nines if they maybe nines maybe n if they’re a little freaky I like it a little more seasoned too what do you got two eights equal a 16 and I always rounded up when I was single if she was a seven and a half she was an eight in my book when I talked to my boys so you guys have been going through Yankee fans a very emotional week you’re going through the seven stages of of SoDo grief so my question to you because John Heyman just put something out there that Kyle Tucker plans to become a free agent at the end of the year you just went through this with SoDo now you’re going to go potentially through it again who’s his agent with Tucker I don’t know who agent it’s not Scott so it’s not Scott Boris that’s all I need to know that’s all I need to know agents are kind of greedy te to a degree well I think agencies are different so I think he CAA I’m not I’m not positive feel like I looked at it the other day and I can’t remember what it is but agencies are different and they’re probably collectively more reasonable then I’m getting this is Scott Boris now I’m getting you the biggest contract that’s that’s possible there is going to be no compromise we’re going to be ruthless about this we’re going to burn Bridges as we have to we’re going to create you know USD ion and and everybody’s going to you know stomp towards you because I’m going to create it this is the ego of Scott Bor is talking agenes are different than that they actually look at it from a more practical standpoint and they’ll say well let’s look holistically at the whole picture right what does this mean for you what does this mean for your family what does this mean for your career what does this mean for your legacy woto all due respect to give a crap about his legacy wodo wanted to make as much money as possible because his legacy is going to be he’s now on his fourth Theme by the way four te he’s Kevin Durant right when you get to four teams you start saying well who owned you right well he’ll be a met now he’ll be remember as a met of course he will as long as he’s great right true I think he will be did win a World Series somewhere else went to a World Series you know right but it’s just like you get to these many teams it be you don’t care about your legacy you’re just trying to go be great and whereever wherever you’re your most desired but I think with a with a Kyle Tucker it’s a little bit different right it’s a it’s this is now his chance to create something that is going to be lasting and you think about the John Carlos Stanton contract which will be coming off in a couple of years you think about some of these old these other guys that are just a DJ these guys that are going to age out of this Yankee lore and it’s Aaron judge and by the way that’s going to age out of course three or four or five years but you mentioned Leu this is important lameu another year coming to the contract end Stanton same they didn’t go that extra year for garri Cole in the off season that’s why I’m less worried about Tucker next year look if the Dodgers or Mets give Tucker $800 million then I guess you bend the knee again he’s not getting that money that Juan sto got it might be $500 million he’s going to be 28 years old not 26 the Yankees just swam in 700 plus million dollar pool if they’re trading I’m going to maybe I’m a Fool they’ll sign Kyle Tucker okay so I’m I’m less worried about that with Juan stto what else you got okay this is coming from Brian Hulk and I think this is embarrassing not from Brian Hulk but from Brian Cashman go ahe hearing more Buzz connecting the Yankees to Alex bregman interest is real you can’t go on a media tour if you’re Brian Cashman knocking the cheating Astros and then when Alex bregman is available you sign you can’t do that just a month ago was ripping the Astros for cheating but was he ripping bregman but bregman’s a part of it it’s all connected Cashman Cashman got punched in the mouth with losen SoDo so he’s he’s abandoning all rules now here’s what I’ll say I’m less interested in bregman than these other guys and bregman better not prohibit a deal from Tucker unless bregman and Kyle Tucker are close and this is part of making sure you keep Kyle Tucker here long term make him more attractive to stay here so an NBA Style thing like the power of friendship the Knicks you know what eff it get the Altuve to let’s go now oh now so wait a second cuz you’ve also
